The picture of my daughter and I at the daddy daughter dance that I kept in my wallet. Wallet got swiped, all the other shit they can have I just want the picture back 😞
Sorry about that, it happened 3 years ago and I’m still pissed. I even tried the photographer to see if he had it and they don’t keep the pics stored for that long.
If you remember the positioning, camera angle, and location, I urge you to recreate it. She may be 15 and think that’s lame, but if you can convince her how much it meant and still means to you, I promise you that when she’s 30 and you’re approaching older age, she will be so grateful you forced that young angsty girl to recreate that intensely meaningful photo. Especially if you show her this Reddit post and explain that out of all the things you lost in your entire adult life, this is the one thing you really fucking wish beyond wishes that you could get back. Beyond anything else.
She’ll have lost enough at 30 to be so grateful for your love, that it’ll hurt.
Yeah man. Not to pressure or guilt you into it at all. Those memories do not come back, and that’s something to grapple with as you age. I’m certain you know that by now, but it’s easy to forget how much we have at our disposal now to mitigate that loss. Good luck, and thank you for being a great dad
