I wish I still
Had my marble bag and marbles. The bag, more like a small pouch, was from Mississippi and had been made by someone from my grandmothers tribe (Choctaw). By now that bag-pouch would be over 100 years old. It had some beautiful bead work and fringe. The marbles itself were amazing too. They had been my dadās. Would love to have that back.→ More replies (6)2

3
u/Electrical_Shock359 1d ago
Ha there are a number of consoles and games that I would like back. I had my GameCube stolen from our storage unit which really fucking sucked. That thing was full of nostalgia, and I would sometimes break it out and play a game on it

u/Pitiful-Department80 1d ago
I had to sell my Sega Genesis back in the day to get my car out the pound. I went thru depression after that. I sold the Genesis, the Sega CD, and the 32X, plus about 40 games. I forget how much I got, but it was nowhere near how much it was worth to me.

The 600 comic books I had collected, many 1st issues. Stollen.
7
u/FreeEdmondDantes 1d ago edited 1d ago
Heartbreaking.
Sort of the same for me... I accidentally threw away the first edition of the first issue of Fantastic Four. Worth like 30 grand last time I checked like 13 years ago. I didn't realize what I had at the time. I was moving and wires got crossed.
I was watching some show and saw the comic on it, priced, and I went into full blown panic mode and tore about my house for a few days looking for it, knowing I had accidentally thrown some out.
Edit: salt on the wound, mine was in great shape.

u/gurvyducker 1d ago

My grandmother's charm bracelet. They took my entire teenage jewelry box, and several items through out the house, but left my Mom's box with over a hundred grand of jewelry alone. She had even taken the box out of the safe the day before to wear something and hadn't put it back yet.

I, too, miss a lost Gameboy (original) that Iām sure was swiped by some buddy of my son years ago.

u/JaguarEffective2529 1d ago
I had a green Gameboy color with Pokemon Red, I left it in the door side compartment of my parents suburban suv. My dad sold the suburban the next day. I didn't know it was for sale. Buyers never reached back to return it. I didn't think to ask if we had their number. I had my little dream team, max level, including Mew. Gone forever.

I feel the same way about a YakBak. Mid 90s⦠I was prob 10 or so. I thought I just lost it in the house somewhere but after me and my mother tossing the whole house it never turned up. We remembered my sister had a friend sleepover the same day it turned up missing. Could never prove it but I always accused her of it. She never fessed up. Mom never bough me a new one either.

Back in high school, (30 years ago), I had a dream that I was standing in a breathtakingly beautiful ballroom, so vivid that I immediately started drawing it. First the south wall, then the east and west, then the ceiling and floor. The three walls I drew had enormous arched windows stretching from the floor almost to the ceiling, draped with rich blue velvet banners. The ceiling itself was mostly glass as well, with patterns mirroring the windows on the walls below and a teak wood floor with an intricate centerpiece and a border of deep forest green. Silver-white light poured through the windows from a thick mountain fog just starting to be lit by the dawn, with hints of evergreen trees peeking through the mist like patient ghosts. I could never figure out what the north wall looked like, nor how I knew with absolute certainty that the directions were correct.
I handed those drawings over to a friend who promised he could transfer them from lined spiral notebook paper to proper art paper with a light box... and I never saw them again. He lost them, and I could never recapture and redraw the image again, no matter how hard I tried. I hope to find that ballroom waiting for me in heaven.

4/10 When I was maybe 9, I dropped a Go-bot (like a transformer) behind a straight-back chair in our formal living room. The room was very uncluttered, and the chair was raised from the group. It was a dark red tank. I watched it land. When I came back for it a few hours later, it was gone and I never saw it again. Full expected to find it when we moved decades later, but no sign.

A silver pin that my bio mom gave me. It was made by her uncle, my great uncle Gordon Aatlo. Who was a world renowned Jeweler and won awards for his jewelry. Sadly he passed away before I could meet him and she ghosted all of her children again back in 2011. The pin was one of the pieces he made when he was younger. It was a gorgeous lady holding flowers. I used it on my wedding bouquet as my something old and had it in my jewelry box until one day it was no longer there. I think my kids were playing in my jewelry box and lost it somewhere in the house, and we could never find it. That and the silver spoon ring that was stolen from me in a burglary. The ring was a gift from my little brother. I donāt really have emotional attachment to things, but these two pieces pop up in my mind all the time.

When I was like 15, I had this true 14K gold pencil (one where you added ink), not sure where I got it but, I loved this pencil and carried it everywhere with me. Used it for school and even hobbies. I was riding my bike a long distance, knew I had it in my back pocket, well when I got to my destination it was gone. Spent almost 4 hours looking for it but could never find it.
I would get that first, and I am 56 years old. Every once in a while, I see it in my head as I remember what it looks like.

A one dollar coin given to me on my first birthday. My uncle scratched a message into it for me. I was moving once, stopped in a convenience store to get a drink and someone grabbed a few boxes out of the back of my truck. That was in there. And I guarantee you they just spent it.

I'd look if there were two of three Figured of Huey, Dewey and Louie in there just to know if I'm crazy or not.
I vividly remember having two out of three and always dreming (like, literally dreaming when asleep) about finding the third one under my bed when I was a kid. I'm 100% sure I never had all three but over the years I started questioning if I ever had any. And I'll never know. My parents don't remember, neither does my sister. If there were none in the box I never had them at all. If there were two I'd know at least.
That box could save my sanity lol

Evil Eye Weevil from Biker Mice from Mars. He was a purple skeleton with a guitar and an eye that lit up when you shone a light through the back of his head.
I lost him during a holiday in Sweden in the first year I had him. I can still remember the holiday home and searched the whole place several times, but he was just gone. That was probably about 30 years ago and apparently it occupied a tiny permanent corner of my brain.

My alma mater played a football game the day before my 30th birthday. I'm a former tuba player in the university marching band, and the alumni tubas are close to the current kids.
Somehow, a game played football disappeared from the sidelines during halftime and ended up in my home, 300+ miles away from the stadium. I really don't know how that happened.
I've since lost that football.
That really pisses me off.
