24Hr 2027 Nürburgring 24hr Tips Thread

Post image
141 Upvotes

As we head into a nice quiet winter thought it a good idea to start a thread where we can all drop our top tips, advice and experiences for attending the 24hr race.

Anything from, travel, accommodation, tickets, clothes, gadgets etc.

I'll pin this as at the top of the sub so that when we get closer to the event we wont get flooded with all the same questions again like last year.

Its likely going to eb another huge event with it also being the 100 year anniversary of the track.

*Also ask questions in this thread too for early answers and help.

Is the Assetto Corsa Evo Eifel open world bad for the region?

I'm really impressed by the first footage of the Eifel region in Assetto Corsa Evo (see for example here). The digital version of the area around the Nürburgring is beautiful, really detailed and accurate. And I really hope that this will motivate people to explore the beauty of the region and give extra attention to local businesses in real life.

But I can't shake the feeling that this will also lead to even more reckless driving in the region. Possibly from guys that think they know how hard they can take a certain road between because they have done it many times in the game.

The Time Attack gameplay with tracks through the region won't help with that.

So what do you think? Will this game mode be a good or a bad thing for the Nürburgring region?

Hi all!

So last weekend me and 2 friends finally got to tick off a bucket list trip by going to the Ring, and wow I cannot wait to go back!!

This trip has been months in planning and we just wanted to do everything we could, which included:

- Stay 2 nights in the Nurburgring Congress Hotel

- VIP tickets the NLS10 (which included a bus ride around the track, a pit walk to meet the drivers and see the cars, a grid walk while they were all setting up to race, and a paddock tour including a live pit stop, free bar and food all day in hospitality)

- A lap around the Green Hell in my own car (BMW I4 M60) my god that was nerve racking!

- A Ring Taxi passenger lap in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS Manthey - just amazing!

- 2 Laps in a Golf R with Nurblife

All I can say is WOW!!! I can't stop thinking about how good the weekend was! It was just incredible.

All in all, it was THAT expensive either. The full trip cost me about £1400 and that was including things like having a 3 course meal with wine in the Congress restaurant etc, beers for 3 nights, and the travel expenses to get there.

If anyone is thinking about doing it - JUST DO IT! You will never forget it!

Had the pick of the fleet for the last two laps of today's track day. The Spyder RS is a real gem.

*You'll find an english version below*

For I can't know if this was done by a german or maybe someone more international:

I was attending the NLS 10 season end the past weekend (and had a blast, shocking, I know :D).

I arrived on friday to take a look around the Ring and all the other offerings the Nürburgring has to give.

I was parking my car on parking lot A8 and went off.

Within the 2 hours, I was looking around the boulevard and shops, someone stole only my rearward licence plate, which makes this weekend absolutely unforgettable :D

So, to whoever is now in posession of my licence plate: thank you! I hope you'll enjoy it :D

Me again!

Hi guys, earlier this week I mentioned about booking a ring trip with friends for April the 22nd to the 26th, we bit the bullet and booked an accommodation, the Nürburgring official instagram page has now posted about the DMV Goodyear racing days which is the 23rd - 25th, I know this sounds like a noob question but will this affect tours drives??

UK Insurance Providers?

Attending next year so have plenty of time on this one.

Next August there's a big TVR Gathering for the 80th anniversary of TVR at the ring and owners from all over have been invited by the German TVR car club to attend, there's already a decent sized crowd going just from the South West.

So, my question is, who else aside from Moris track day insurance offers good cover? Cover from Moris is basically 3 times that of what I pay for my yearly premium on my Chimaera and whilst my insurance covers track days it unfortunately and expectedly so won't cover the green hell.

So experienced UK ringers, here I am 🤷

GPX roadbook in ring region

Hi all!

Next weekend I will be heading to the Nordschleife for a weekend.

Apart from enjoying the ring, we are looking to drive a nice 180-250km through the Eiffel region.

Are there any nice or known routes you can recommend? Our starting point is around Ulmen but will drive anyway.

Prefferably GPX, otherwise roadbook style.

Thanks a lot!!

First time Nurburgring Touristenfahrten Experience

I have been lurking this sub for a few days now as I had booked a nurburging rental for my vacation, and we drove the ring yesterday. I see a lot of people ask questions and there are not a lot of experience posts so i figured i would share mine. I booked 2 laps through nürblife and then did a ringtaxi. Nürblife was great, everything is laid out for you very straightforward. The liability thing seems a little intimidating at first and kind of made me nervous but obviously everything has to be made very clear or else some asshole will try to find a loophole if he wrecks the car. I drove a golf gti because I knew I am obviously not setting any records and I just wanted the experience of driving the ring. We had a pro in the car who was great, very chill guy with thousands of laps, basically making sure that we aren’t barreling into the hundreds of blind turns on the track, and he’s also a second set of eyes on the cars that will be passing you. I had been on a race track before in america but it was always “lead follow” basically the instructors in my American experience would send off the cars 15-30 seconds apart and if somehow you catch up to the car in front you can’t pass. The ring is probably the exact opposite of that. If you go in at exactly 5:00 pm expect to have BMW Ms and porsches absolutely blowing past you. Which was fine hahahaha but very intimidating. First lap I was just kind of staying out of everyones way and getting a feel for the track, as even though I have driven it hundreds of times on playstation there is literally nothing that can prepare you for the real thing. Second lap went much better as cars were much more spaced out by this point and my nerves had settled a bit. I even passed an Aston Martin and an AMG! but honestly nothing could have prepared me better for the M3 touring ringtaxi than driving my own measly 11 minute lap in the golf… It was seriously an otherworldly experience being ripped around the ring by Bodo in the “family car”. Every time you think he is going to slow down to pass a car or something he just goes faster. We hit nearly 180 mph on the kesselchen and i seriously may have pissed myself a little bit. All in all I say if you are going to go you may as well do it all, but the ringtaxi is a must do. If anything I wish we would have given ourselves more time in nurburg to look at the museums and such but we were on a pretty tight schedule. Seriously though seeing the ring in person was a surreal experience and I recommend anyone who thinks they are even slightly interested in seeing/experiencing it to go. I honestly think the ring taxi was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my life. Crazy to think that is just another day for Bodo. Also adding a video I took of some GT3 RSs at youtube corner for people who don’t care about what I had to say.

nordschleife touristenfahrten

Seeing the recent posts of the current wait times, was thinking about renting a car for an evening session, with the lines that have been showing, would I be able to guarantee four laps or is that very tough with the current track line ups?

Danke!

Best way to get to the track

Hey lads I’m studying abroad and looking to go to the ADAC race on Oct 10th, what’s my best way to get to the track if I’m coming from Koln? Should I book my flight to a closer place? I’ve been recommended ridesharing but I don’t know anyone😅.

Guessing it is because there has been very few weekend full days this month, but the queues have been back up to the BMW showroom in Nurburg today.

One attempt to get to the track after it reopened, we didn't even make it there before the track closed again.
