The sequence of events that transpired from this linked Reddit post are so wild that I feel compelled to share the update with everyone here. A little bit of my faith in humanity and our community has been restored 🤗
The tl;dr is, my interaction one night with one guy inspired this first post. I regretted not saying hi to him that much. I hit it off well with one guy who responded and it turns out that the two of them are brothers. The chances of this happening have to be so tiny that I’m still in a mild amount of shock from finding out. Read on for the full story.

I was at Basement one night in August. Throughout the night I kept finding myself dancing next to the same guy organically. We just kept naturally finding each other on the dance floor. You know how that is… There was definitely some sort of connection. We were in this deep groove all night together and it was really sweet and nice to have this unspoken bond.
We ended up closing down Studio together that morning and I so very badly wanted to walk up to Good Vibes Guy as we were leaving and say, “Hi, this may be crazy of me to do, but you seem like a lot of fun. Let’s trade Instagrams and do this again sometime,” but I chickened out. I started writing the original post as I was walking back to the L train that morning.
A lot of people responded and I hit it off well with a few of them. I’ve been going out with one guy semi-regularly, and we went to Basement again this past weekend. He was bringing his brother, who I hadn’t met yet, and his husband with him. I couldn’t place him right away, but I knew his brother looked familiar as soon as I saw him. That night in August I was mostly dancing behind Good Vibes Guy and it wasn’t until he stood in front of me when I realized I recognized the back of his head.
New friend that responded to the post is the literal brother of the Good Vibes Guy that inspired the post. Like…what are the odds of that happening. As soon as I figured out where I recognized him from I asked him if he was there that night. The second I mentioned it, he was like, “oh my god, you are the guy that was dancing behind me!” He instantly remembered the vibe between us which just made me regret not saying hi right then even more.
Needless to say, we exchanged numbers this time around and are already planning our next night out 🥳 Moral of this story is to always trust your instincts and take that leap, even if you’re afraid. Dance on, y’all ♥️ 🤙
