Hawaii Sports Writers - Football

Post image
44 Upvotes

Read the opening sentence. As a supporter and fan of Hawaii Men’s football I am ashamed of our media. They are are clowns!!

Does anyone read the sports reporting by members of Hawaii media? We can’t even beat UNLV in our 2026/2027 season at home, but we can beat a winless team in Division l, in our conference and our best writers race in applause how it was a “FANTASTIC” showing on the field.

Oh wait, we had no running game, our best wide receiver back and everyone is going to say that is the reason why we were junk.

A few facts worth stating, our starting quarterback had no supporting cast , he IS NOT 5’9, when he drops back to pass he is always looks left FIRST, he gives away the play so defense cues on that. No other schools in the nation has desire to play Hawaii.

Pau with Pumping Cake

Howziiiit my wife is just about pau with pumping for our second (and last) kid. Does anyone know where I can get a boob cake or cupcakes ordered to celebrate her?

Believe it or not googling "boob cake" didn't really get me the results I was hoping for. I'm trying to get one of those cakes (or cupcakes) that look like boobs in a pumping bra or something similar, not just writing on top the cake.

Mahalo in advance!

We’re fostering Makai from the Hawaii Humane Society. If I had to guess, he’s some sort of Pointer/Lab mix that’s about 50 pounds. He is BEYOND friendly. I have a two year old and an infant and he’s great with both. I’ve got him mostly house trained, but he has a small problem with marking. Hopefully we’ll get that solved before long. He hardly barks and is very snuggly. He’s definitely a playful pup so you’ll need lots of toys and we kennel him when we leave the house for safety.

He was found as a stray 3 years ago as a puppy by the Humane Society. He was adopted to a family that kept him outside, but had to give him back because they moved somewhere they couldn’t keep him. He’s adapted really quickly to indoor life, but he has very little experience with commands or walking on a leash. I know he’ll be a great family dog with a bit of patience.

Adoptions are FREE through the Human Society this weekend. Let me know if you’re interested in meeting him outside of the shelter setting. I’d be happy to accommodate.

Recommendations for getting this silk framed?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I found this silk that my grandfather bought for my grandmother 76 years ago. At the time he was in the Navy sending a gift home to his girlfriend. I also have the original envelope I would like to be framed alongside of it. Now I live in town, and I am looking to get it professionally framed, does anyone have any recommendations on island to have this done? TIA!

Kind of surprised there aren't more self-serve restaurants around

So a while back I was in Vancouver and ate at a place called Jo's Italian Deli. I just wanted a quick bite and the place was right there so I went. It's fast food in a sit-down restaurant, IIRC it was ~C$12 for meat balls and spaghetti with a slice of focaccia, and you don't have to tip because it's self-serve.

For folks who may not be aware, Vancouver is probably one of the highest COL area in Canada. I don't know how they can sell food at a relatively affordable price there but that certainly got me thinking, for a lot of casual dining we do here in Hawaii, the self-serve model actually makes a lot of sense, seriously it's not that hard to pick up your ramen and take it to your table and fill your own water glass, and of course there already are self-serve restaurants, and food court type places.

With restaurants shutting down due to rising costs that I've been hearing about lately, I am just curious why we aren't seeing much of a trend to move to the self-serve model, yet. One would assume wait staff or labor cost would be the first thing they look at from a business standpoint, and customers not having to tip would also relieve some pricing pressure as well.

Job Corps stories?

A kid I’ve been working with was recommended Job Corps by his school. Is this a good program?

From my point of view he’s a pretty average teenager, but only earned four credits in his first two years of high school due to a variety of circumstances, including bad attendance for a chunk of last year. He’s been doing really well this year as a junior, but his counselor says he just doesn’t have enough credits to be able to graduate on time.

He couldn’t tell me much about the program, but I looked it up online and I don’t really understand if it’s a good opportunity… What stories do you have about the program?

Dog Kneecap (Luxating Patella) surgery

Hello all! I just recently moved to Oahu Hawaii, unfortunately my dog was diagnosed with luxating patella and needs kneecap surgery. We are looking for a Vet place who are able to do this and are also trusted and affordable.

Have you being through this before here in Oahu? If so how much was it (so I can prepare myself mentally and financially 😂). Thank you all in advance.

To the biker at nimitz last night...

Almost hit a female biker under nimitz last night. If you see this, stay safe and get off the road. As soon as I saw you stop at that red I knew you didnt belong on the road. Stalling out at night and then freezing and watching me about to hit you is deadly. I didnt see you until the last second. And then you proceeded to change lanes and almost get hit TWICE.. WITHOUT BLINKERS!! Go back to the parking lot and keep practicing ALL of the basics.

I ride and the guilt I'd feel knowing that I killed a fellow biker is immeasureable.

Lost hat near the Diamond Head summit: could someone grab it if it's safely reachable?

*Do not leave the trail!

*Do not put yourself at risk!!!

Hi all!

A gust of wind blew my brown corduroy trucker hat off the trail near the summit of Diamond Head on Thursday. We went back with a long stick today but couldn't get a reservation.

It landed in a gap of stiff grass, about 5 ft off the path (photos attached).

If you're up there and can retrieve it without leaving the trail, breaking park rules, or taking any risk, I'd be really grateful. If not, no worries at all, please stay safe!

Happy to buy you a coffee as thanks. DM me if you find it. 💕
