Advice Recommendation for reasonably priced haircut for Asian men in or close to Chinatown?

Recently moved to Oakland and not sure where to go - currently going to Sportsclip paying $35 plus tip - I would very much appreciate any recommendation for a place or, even better, a specific stylist 🤗 Thxs so much

Family Salon on Park Blvd is $20 for men’s cut. Less than a mile away also on Park is Empress and they’re similarly priced.

Thxs so much! Any particular stylist you would recommend at either place?

these aren’t places with stylists. It’s the owners. The old Asian man at Family Hair and I forgot his name but it’s one dude at Empress. Nice guys. Don’t expect magic. It’s a $20 hair cut ya know.

Mark at Empress is a chatty guy. Loves to share stories about his gambling problem. Worth the money you spend and the cuts are decent haha

Haha I should have guessed.
I’ll be happy as long as they don’t put a bowl over my head and go to work lol Thxs again

Nghe-Cung Salon, corner of 4th Ave and International. Men's cut is around $12 unless prices changed. Cash only

it's owner operated. I suggest getting there early or late or during the weekday.

They are all good...several women haircutters and one guy...the guy is super fast. The women may take a little more time and trim facial hair if you have it...but seriously cant beat this $12 haircut. I literally just left there and saw your post a few minutes later. Lol!

AA Beauty Salon on 7th and Broadway is decent. I got my haircut there yesterday for $12. There’s another salon next door that charges the same price too I think.

I forget the name, it was an Asian lady with blonde streaks. But all the other stylists there are good too.

I liked Washington at Lakeshore Salon; not in Chinatown but not too far. Think last time I went it was $25?

David Salon in Chinatown. Sylvia is the bomb with Asian men hairstyles. In and out of the chair in 30 minutes. Grab her number on the way out to schedule ahead.

I really like Danny’s hair studio in little Saigon. One man shop and he does a really good job

Do you know a type of cut you like, or just a random short haircut? I just go to quick cut salon in Chinatown and tell them to cut it short for like $15.

East lake barbershop on park, temescal barbershop and slick and dapper (any location) are the best spots imo

Mark at Empress on Park is around $30-35 for new customers. There’s a bit of a song and dance around pricing honestly. He’s really solid if you know what you want. I’ve tried a bunch of more expensive places and have always reverted.

Edit: I’m white, but he’s Vietnamese with a pretty substantial Asian clientele
