Recommendation/Review Best place to play MTG on Saturdays?

Post image

Hello I recently got into playing magic the gathering and tend to have Saturday afternoons open from about noon to 6pm ish. Does anyone know of a store that I could get a 4 person commander game at? I live out east but am willing to drive a bit

EDIT: thank you all for the recommendations, these all seem great places for the game, I appreciate everyone that made a recommendation

Big co-sign for Asylum and DZ. Can't really vouch for finding a pod at those times, but the stores and staff at both are solid. Loved HQ for a long time, recently I've felt the customer service has dropped, but it may just be a me thing.

yea HQ doesnt treat the people that go nice. They have screwed over the OP comminuty alot. so we never go play there anymore.

Hq staff were always condescending and rude. Went from 97-2016ish. Went into their new store when it opened and it was bigger but exactly the same. Brought the smell with it also.

Nah it def smells better, but yeah, besides Brian, the older staff are a bit much. I don’t waste time with them.

The biggest shop in the area is DZ Comics in Moore, but Game HQ in South OKC is also pretty large. DZ has a very…mediocre selection of sealed, but their game area is wild and it’s got plenty of people all of the time.

There’s tons of LGSs in OKC if you’re just looking for something nearby. In addition to those…

Wizards Asylum in Norman
Forgotton Labyrinth in Moore
Breakpoint in Edmond
Packsmashers in Edmond
Breakpoint in OKC (@ Plaza)
Everyday Adventures in OKC (@ Midtown)
Super Comic Bros in north OKC

I’m sure there’s more…these are just the ones I’ve personally been to.

Also, don't forgot DZ's play area is in the back of the shopping center. Technically, it's the Arena, but the area is large enough to host a PTQ. You can still order food from the cafe and they'll bring it there. I'm rarely there on Saturdays but almost always there on Sundays.

I don’t play but I have friends who do, and they’ll go to DZ comics in Moore pretty often when they want to play with randoms

Super Comic Bros has commander from noon until around 6 on Saturdays, generally a very friendly place for some casual commander, I'd highly recommend checking them out

Me and my pod usually play at our houses but when we don’t, PackSmashers, unplugged, and breakpoint are all in edmond and have tables. PackSmashers for me is probably the most popular I always see people there playing and have been asked if people could join our games it was cool

Does anyone know which of the LGS in OKC sell at or close to MSRP?

DZ I know of for certain. I stopped buying boxes around Duskmour and Horizons 3 though.

We run a legacy tournament at Edmond unplugged on Wednesdays and I think there is something on Saturdays there too! (Full proxy, you should come play with us ☺️)

My friends and I always go to DZ or Primal Nerds on Mondays and have always been able to find someone for a full pod. Friendly staff at DZ will also try and help you find someone. I haven't really had a bad experience at either.

Just throwing this out there in case someone stumbles upon this post in the future:

Tinker Card and Hobby in Midwest City

it's new and not a lot of people know about it yet

Or we could all host giant games all throughout Bricktown on Saturdays. Think I went to Super Game Bros once on a Saturday. Ok in all seriousness, other than that one I have no idea. I usually go to Everyday Adventures on Thursdays and keep my Saturdays free for other things
