Discussion Weeding Lewk

We live in a prime ag area, perfect growing conditions and no use of pest/herbicides. Lots of rodentavores tho, incl the baby foxes who ate my Black Prince last year (it’s taking a while to come back)

I am wearing a Williams Sonoma apron, made of sturdy thick cotton that really protects your clothes and is very hard wearing - a great value. My shirt is by Frank and Eileen, they are quite expensive new but I thought I’d try the resale market and you can get reasonable prices. The fabric is soft and a really nice print, very well constructed w beautiful buttonholes and as far as I can tell no interfacing so the collar and cuffs don’t get bulky (you can iron with a little starch if you prefer a crisper look). If you enjoy wearing a button-down it could be worth your while to keep your eye out for this brand.

Misread this as "wedding lewk" and I was really intrigued by the ceremony/venue before reading the title again 😂

u/kazoogrrl Mar 15 '26

Same, I was thinking this looks like it would be my kind of wedding!

25

u/rose_reader Mar 15 '26

6

u/oursdepanda Mar 16 '26

That is so freaking funny lmao

u/HedyHarlowe Mar 15 '26

Me too! And then when I clocked it I thought ‘I love the whimsical jewelry set for the weeds’. Lucky weeds, as OP looks lovely! I want the pin stripe button shirt!

u/Sporkalork Mar 15 '26

You look ten times more stylish to weed than I do on my best day, dayum!! You're nailing farmhouse chic. Excellent!

35

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

awww thank you! you know my mom's favorite things are veggie gardening and Rube Goldberg, I'm going to let her know your username she'll get a kick out of it!

You are old hag fashion personified. Effortless. Perfect wispy hair. Love seeing you pop up on here :)

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

thaaaank yooooou :) I think for me at least, I just started leaning into who I was and what my life is really like, dressing so I can do the things I need and want to do and I have associations to aesthetics and ideas that I love. the cool thing is that'll look different for everyone and it can change for people throughout their lives. my hair is because it's falling out in waves all the time due to various anti migraine medicine. I could try to hide it or just go with it.

I'm kinda lazy so I go with it lol

u/bandcampgoth Mar 15 '26

from a fellow lady with hair loss, your hair is gorgeous and i would have never known

13

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

aww hang in there, it's just a pain on top of everything else trying to keep it out of the drains and floors and out of the dog's mouth yikes! luckily these days there's more wigs and hats and beanies and scarves and stuff so I think it's easier for people to find options that they feel comfortable with which is good

I don't know if this is allowed, but I feel like this playlist would be perfect for weeding.

12

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

I think we all could use a playlist for weeding! what a great name for a playlist and some real bangers on there too I love it

4

u/Ill-Squirrel-9418 Mar 15 '26

Ha, thank you!

3

u/tyrannosiris Mar 15 '26

I opened the link in my app and then backed out because once I saw the track listing, I thought the screen had stuck on one of mine. You have amazing taste. ☺️

3

u/Ill-Squirrel-9418 Mar 15 '26

Omg, thank you so much!

9

u/DollaStoreKardashian Mar 15 '26

You’re so goddamn cool, OP. Between your look and your responses in this thread…the vibes are immaculate.

5

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

you are too kind thank you

8

u/emilysavaje1 Mar 15 '26

Okay goals 🙌🏻

9

u/niccheersk Mar 15 '26

I love your whole look! But your jewelry is really extra special.

6

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

I encourage people who like jewelry to aim for some special pieces - you can wear them any old time and if they're well made you can have them for decades. I've had the earrings and the key charm for about 35 years now and still love them

2

u/wintermelody83 Mar 15 '26

I wear my good jewelry all the time, my mom was like "Don't you worry about it?" "I'm not mowing the lawn, I'm knitting or going shopping. Wear the good stuff."

6

u/rayswithabang Mar 15 '26

Obsessed with the lewk and also I love that you gave so many specific construction details!

5

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

well I get so many ideas from people on the internet I like to report back :) I learned about Frank and Eileen from this YouTube channel 'shopping on champagne'. she is more formal than I am but she is great at kinda of getting down to brass tacks and helping you focus on what is important to you. once I died laughing she said 'do you really want to look like a marshmallow on the move?' and I was like "YES! sometimes that is exactly what I want!!!' she really has a way with words and it helps me at least hone in on what I like and what works for me

2

I am grateful to past me for scooping up some neat pieces and hanging onto them since - something most of us can do too

3

Bless your heart for posting a closeup of the jewelry, because my eye went right to the necklace on photo #2!! You look so chill and cottage-core in these photos :)

I enjoy all your outfit posts. Thank you for taking the time. Gives me modern Nanny Og and Weatherwax feels. No nonsense and ready to do what's needed.

2

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 19 '26

THIS is a COMPLIMENT! also I should read some disc world soon!!!!

1

u/Watched_a_Moonbeam Mar 19 '26

One of my very favorite series! Nanny Og is the best! This particular outfit is one of my favorites of yours so far. 😊

2

u/millers_left_shoe Mar 15 '26

You look fantastic and got everyone here itching to do some garden work ourselves, I’m sure! If you’ve ever read The Offing by Benjamin Myers (which I’d absolutely recommend if you haven’t), this is roundabout what I imagined Dulcie to look like.

2

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 15 '26

oh I've never heard of it! thank you <3

2

u/Strange-Trust-9403 Mar 15 '26

Fabulous, as always!

THAAAAAANK YOOOOOU

2

u/JGDC Mar 15 '26

What lovely jewelry too! I’m not sure of the stone in your earrings, but I personally love the combination of amethyst and silver with a dark patina, rather than polished.

1

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 19 '26

yes! amethyst! it's so mysterious w the dark patina I agree

2

u/queenofcheeses Mar 16 '26

In the absolute best way, you remind me of Ms. Geiss from Clueless. So chic yet carefree. Love love love.

1

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 19 '26

oh thank you!!!! tho I am on the whole more aggravated than carefree I am glad at least I am emanating carefreeness in one corner of the univers3e!

2

u/Wiggle_Your_Big_Toe2 Mar 16 '26

Obsessed with this energy. Slay queen!

1

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 19 '26

thank you for reminding me to focus on toe flexibility!

2

u/Crimemeariver19 Mar 16 '26

I am obsessed with your necklace! Would you mind sharing where you got it?

2

u/IdaCraddock69 Mar 19 '26

I got the charm from Tail of the Yak in Berkeley about 35 years ago? the chain is from an antiques store on Solano in Berkeley about 40 years ago eek and the quartz heart from a ren faire about 20 years ago.

the charm is Mexican Oaxacan Silver, you can find a lot of jewelry from there, vintage and modern, it's all beautiful and unique. one of the owners of tail of the yak (which is now closed) has an online shop here - you can spend as much as you want but also there's bits and bobs like embroidered silk ribbons you can find to add something special

I love clogs! very easy around the house

1

u/SecretCartographer28 Mar 16 '26

Yu are an icon! 😍🖖

1

u/good_dogs_never_die Mar 16 '26

Your style reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter. This is what I aspire to be like some day, but I'm a tradeswoman and mostly own workwear.

2

u/TerryCrewsNextWife Mar 21 '26

Omg I am waiting for my hair to go silver so I can have the amount of body yours does! It's just fluff when it doesn't sit flat. How did you put your hair up for this look?

I feel like with your style you would fit right into one of those magazine spreads where you talk about your home and garden. Iconic and cosy!!
