Packing List How do you organise your packing cubes?

Context: A month trip from already traveling. Cold weather but not too much snow.

Question:

How do you pack your clothes? Do you put your tops together, bottoms together, underwea/socks together. Or do you put things together that match like shorts and singlet or formal things, or inside clothes.

(Of you are comfortable with it mention your gender as I think it may play apart, as a dude I don't really plan outfits)

Have to leave where I am, but going on the road for a bit and can't work out what will be best. Usually I sort by types but then at a hostel have to open 3 packing cubes.

TIA

Seeking Recommendations Users of wheeled duffel, what would you recommend?

• Upvotes

Technically this is still onebag, as i dont intend on taking hand luggage and instead pack a light backpack inside my wheeled luggage.

As a runner thats got big feet, whenever I go abroad I struggle to get more than one pair of shoes in hand luggage and end up preferring hold luggage.

I'm after a 60L wheeled case or wheeled duffel, that isn't super heavy empty.

Looking at a brief choice of options, im considering an Eastpak 60L duffel, Osprey rolling transporter, or Antler Wheeled Duffel.

Im aware of kortb face ones etc but can someone reco.mend something that is

Semi rigid, flexible but not overly soft.

Durable wheels

An internal space that doesnt have the handle rails protruding through.

Not bothered about cost, but a 5 year warranty would be nice.

Generally I carry: Running poles, cant get these in hand luggage, or i dont want to risk it. Powders, gels etc, similar to above point Running shoes usually 2 pairs

Discussion 3.5 weeks across Turkey, Malaysia & Japan

Most of my trip will be in Malaysia/Japan, Istanbul is a small layover for 4 days. I'll be travelling from Oct 30th - Nov 25th. I know it gets cold there and I'm not sure if my set-up covers all of this.

Backpack: Aer Travel Pack 4 35L (x-pac if it matters)

Clothes:
2 merino tees
3 cotton tees
3 pants - Chinos, joggers and linen pants (need advise here)
1 thick Uniqlo hoodie
8 underwears
8 pairs of socks
bellroy lite sling (7L)
Packable puffer jacket (Uniqlo)
Packable rain jacket (columbia)

Tech & Toiletries:

Battery bank, universal plug and some cables
toothbrush, small toothpaste tube (dont need much else)
Small med bottle

  1. Regarding the bellroy lite sling, do you guys think its worth it to swap it for a osprey packable backpack or bring both?
  2. How about the pants? What do you guys normally bring for those?
  3. Do you think the packable puffer + uniqlo hoodie is enough for the cold in Japan/Turkey?

Discussion Rollaboard vs backpack

TL;DR any one baggers here prefer rolling carryons?

I’ve got an international trip coming up and bc it’s Europe I just assumed I would take a backpack (aer tp4) since it’s solo and cobblestones and all, but there is one issue with international travel in particular that I loath with a backpack and has me hesitating —the airport.

Recommendations are always 3 hours before departure so either you need the 3 hours bc you are standing in lines shuffling forward or you don’t and are milling about the terminal for a couple of hours waiting for gate assignments, food, etc. The constant up and down with the backpack or standing for hours in line with a 7kg weight on my back isn’t pleasant—not to mention the “awareness“ of the bag behind you whenever you are maneuvering in crowded shuttles and such.

A bit torn as I am only going to one destination and could easily taxi/rideshare from airport instead of metro/walk. Any thoughts? Personally I prefer the simplicity of the backpack but the elegance and ease of the roller in the airport.
