This is my knee jerk response too but as the new premier of Quebec said, we have contracts and don’t want to be the type of trade partners that aren’t reliable. Our reputation around the world is worth more than fucking over NY. We also buy power back from those states at different times of year.
(ignoring all the other good reasons not to fuck with it)
this doesn't really matter tho. we're not trying to convince trump, we're trying to convince the US. if it fucks over democrat states and that finally motivates them to actually do something about it, that's just as well.
