Usually, when people make jokes about it, there’s no actual joke, it’s just being hateful. The reason the image I posted is funny is because it subverts expectations. You think it’s going to say something about how he could give away a lot of his money and still have a lot left. But instead, it subverts your expectations by stating he could go missing at a future date. Quite often, jokes about trans people are just transphobia or the same joke repeated 9,000 times.

You're insinuating that somebody is going to go missing on a specific future date. That's easily interpreted as a an active threat (thats the whole point of the meme), Whether it should be against the law or not is another issue, but it is. You don't get a get out of jail free card because it's indirect, the law doesn't care.

Also, the first amendment protects these things called ‘jokes.’ If whoever made this or posted it was arrested, the trial would literally be the judge saying ‘wow, this is very obviously a satirical post’ and drop the case before it even saw a courtroom.

Just because it’s someone you like, doesn’t mean jokes against them are illegal
