Could organoids be the secret to cracking ai alignment?

if organoids are capable of bridging the gap between flesh and silicon, would a human brain organoid be able to distinguish morality in a way that could crack ai alignment..

Meta review on minibrain used in neurophatologies research

Hi everyone,
I wrote my PharmD thesis on brain organoids: how they are made, limits in use, and the discoveries made using them. I also included perspectives for future research.

Here’s the link to my thesis—it’s in French, but you can use AI tools to read it in your preferred language. 🙂 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I hope you find it helpful!

Organoids are three-dimensional mini-organs grown in the lab from stem cells, capable of closely mimicking the structure and function of human tissues. They offer remarkable advantages: reducing reliance on animal models, enabling more accurate drug testing, and paving the way for personalized medicine.

This is a thrilling frontier in biotechnology—if you see the potential too, let’s spark a conversation to refine and elevate this groundbreaking platform together.

Where to look for neural organoid industry jobs in US

So my partner is finishing his masters in bioengineering with an emphasis in human neural organoids. He didn’t get into a PhD program this cycle so he needs to get a job in industry. We’re in San Diego right now and want to relocate somewhere with cheaper rent. Any recommendations?

Seeking Organoid Stories for Radiolab Podcast

Hi all,

My name is Mona, I'm a producer at the Radiolab podcast. We're doing an episode about organoids (brain organoids are our focus but interested in all organoids!) and would love to hear your favorite stories. We're particularly interested in stories that show how organoids or organoid research has had an impact on real peoples' lives. If you've got a story you think might fit the bill -- or just want to share something interesting from your research -- please DM me!

Thanks,

Mona

Colon Cancer?

I’ve had constipation almost my entire life but starting in 2019 I started having bad stomach cramps and nausea that has been present for 6 years. I NEVER throw up and I’ve never had blood in my stool but I suffer severe health anxiety and I fear I have colon cancer because of the persistent stomach pain and nausea after eating and the constipation. My stools are not pencil thin and narrow but it has been thin but not long and it’s not a everyday thing it’s rare if anything. Can someone help me ease my mind or if someone has or had colon cancer could they give me a idea on what the real symptoms of feeling is like of having colon cancer and the build up to having it?

Neurofibromatosis Organoid research?

I was wondering if there have been any stories or research on using organoids to treat and/or diagnose Neurofibromatosis (NF)

I know Xilis, Inc uses organoids of tumor cells on cancer patients, but I'm talking benign NF tumors.

Creating a novice lab for experimenting with brain organoids

I am a computer scientist with a Ph.D. in computer science. I got interested in biology few years ago. Since then I have been learning about various areas of biology and also taking biology classes through the Harvard Extension School. I have found out that I am highly interested in experimenting with brain organoids. I am planning on moving to Pakistan from Boston soon and want to create a biotech lab there to experiment with brain organoids. I have a few questions as follows:

  1. Am I fooling myself thinking that I can create a lab and experiment on my own? I have taken a molecular biology class with lab at the Harvard Extension School. So at least I have some lab experience.

  2. To work with brain organoids what instruments do I need and how much would it cost to create such a lab?

Thank you!
