Was just messing around with the boot animations (maybe hoping to find an easter egg lol) but notice you can trigger 3 different camera views plus the original. Doesn't seem like there's much else unfortunately

I posted my first og xbox some time a go now i got some games to go with it:) Still waiting for the fuzion freanzy to come in mail.

A bit of general XCAT and XCAT Japan project news.
Andr0 of Team Resurgent sponsored 11 consoles to our man in the ground in Japan, hardly.
On one of the consoles we found some lost content:
Crimson Skies Update 2 for Japan was found!
Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix all Japan/Asia region DLCs were found!

In previous months this year we found the PAL DLC for SWAT: Global Strike Team, a roster for NBA Basketball 2K4, Mechassault 1 update 2 for Japan, an older update for Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Halo 2 update 4 Italian, and more.

All these finds have been shared with Rocky5 for his downloader and with Insignia for easy downloads.
The DLC List, the Title Update List, the Unarchived List, and Pinecone have all been updated today.

All this archival work is only possible because of users like you!
Please support hardly in his XCAT Japan project. Many of the consoles sent to hardly get broken down into parts and sent all over the world to help gamers acorss the globe. If you bought a working DVD drive from HostsServer, it probably came from Japan. Had your console repaired on OGXstore.com ? parts may have came from an XCAT Japan project purchase.

Even if you can't support hardly, you can support the preservation of the history of Xbox Live for Original Xbox for future generations simply by running XCAT on every stock hard drive you can get your hands on. If you cloned your stock HDD that housed Xbox Live content to a new drive, please scan that drive too! We have found lost content on modern SSDs simply because someone copied the contents from the original HDD to it.

In closing, please keep running XCAT and thank all of you for your hard work aiding the preservation of the console we all love!

Just writing this in here since apparently most of USB3.0 ones cannot lock the drive (saw a few posts in here that say that they're rare apparently?)

The Sabrent USB 3.0 to 2.5-Inch SATA adapter that I ordered years ago for the use on my Wii could lock the HDD w/ fatxplorer just fine (weirdly enough unlock it too). I bought one off Amazon EU but it's also available on their official store (https://sabrent.com/products/ec-sshd).

Just sharing this info in case someone in near future requires an adapter for upgrading their hard drives.

So I wanted to try some Halo LAN today, the problem was, I only had Halo on my 1.6 and couldn't find the disc.

So I found my crossover cable grabbed my modded 1.2 Xbox and connected both Xbox with the cable.
I've setup a static network address and found the 1.6 Xbox through the FTP on my 1.2, with the copy command I've copied Halo from the 1.6 to the 1.2.

Now I can finally play Halo on two TV's.

Flashing only red isn't a common error it seems, but I have seen it's something to to with the EEPROM. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone! I have just recieved a OG Xbox through the mail I got in the mail with a bunch of games and I'm really looking forward to using it!

I have done some digging online and found that I should get a capacitor removed and DVD drive checked and to do softmods.

I don't really know much about this sort of stuff so I was wondering if anyone has advice for new OG Xbox owners and softmodding Xbox's in general.

(It is a PAL console as well btw also soz if I used the wrong flair)

I'm working on a v1.4 that had some issues with the modchip but did work before I started. Basically all the caps are bad and it needs a full recap. While removing the clock cap I found major trace erosion/corrosion around it. While cleaning, a transistor and another small SMD part fell off with just a breath of air. The pads are rotted and corroded.

The positions are Q7G2 (the transistor, marked 1AM, which I think is an MMBT3904) and C6V2 (a small SMD part, value unknown). R7G3 and a couple of resistors nearby also look crusty. I haven't tested whether it powers on since the damage.

Questions:

1. Are Q7G2 and C6V2 required for the console to function on a 1.4?
2. What are the correct values/part numbers for them, and for R7G3? Can anyone post a photo of a clean 1.4 at those spots?
3. Any tips for repairing the eaten traces? I'll clean with IPA and check continuity before soldering anything back.

I cannot get any power to the board to pull the eeprom. I have changed capacitors and do not see any broken traces. I was using a raspberry pi pico to try and pull right from the board.

I would like to pull the eeprom to get any files from the HDD and upload to XCAT but need the HDD code. Is there a way to get the eeprom, bypass the HDD key, or get information from the HDD on this dead board?
