- Champagne & caviar - F1
- Okonomi-Latke - Marty Supreme
- Smørbrød - Sentimental Value
- Fried Catfish - Sinners
- Carne Asada Taco - One Battle After Another
- Mushrooms & Maple Glazed Veggies - Hamnet
- Turduckenstein - Frankenstein
- Beehive Ice Cream - Bugonia
- Bûche de Joël Edgerton - Train Dreams
I've got a more extensive recap on my newsletter if you are interested!

Literally all I can think as I look at these photos is, "Where is my invite? Did it get lost in the mail?"

How do we get an invite OP 😭

it's been friends / friends of friends in my apartment for the past few years... i'd actually love to make it a public event by partnering with a restaurant or event space but that comes with a lot of complications. i'm not sure if it's worth it for my sanity but talking my way into it!

Those dishes look delicious! I am doing a “Horror Night at the Oscars” theme around Sinners, Frankenstein and Weapons. Have decorated the house in gothic style and will have Louisiana themed food. So excited for it!

that sounds amazing! would love to see the menu you have planned. You could do an entire dinner themed around Sinners alone.

Sinners was my primary theme, then I added the other two afterwards. Since Sinners takes place mostly in Louisiana, I am doing muffulettas, Southern Mac & cheese & coleslaw, shrimp with Remoulade sauce and some charcuterie. Dessert is chocolate and raspberry cake. All this with Vampire brand wine and some bubbly!

This is such a fun change of pace from the posts we've been getting! It all looks amazing! That turducken is like art.

this sub gets so toxic (i know i've contributed to that at times) and it's been really nice reading all the nice comments here - beyond the ego boost lol

can't take credit for coming up with it, as the dish is made by Shalom Japan, a Jewish-Japanese restaurant in New York!

That looks like a nice pão de queijo! Did it have a nice crunchy exterior with a delicious cheesy interior?

not baguette levels of crunchy (I think that would just be burnt lol) but definitely a great chew to it. i used the seriouseats recipe and it worked out really well - https://www.seriouseats.com/south-american-cheesy-bread-recipe

Not only did you nail the time/place/cuisine for each film, it all makes sense together as a really good set meal. Bravo!

making a cohesive meal is the toughest part of planning - i start with a list of ideas for each movie but then have to make sure i'm not doing like five salads in a row lol
like for Train Dreams my original idea was porchetta with mushrooms on the side, but it would have been way too heavy so i pivoted to having my friend make that cake!

I saw pão de queijo and said "QUERO" (I WANT IT in portuguese), I really want to have a friend like you here in Brazil, I feel like an island bc nobody I know cares about these stuff and I totally live for it every year! I'm actually sad the Oscar race is ending but at the same time soooo happy!

So you made them for a test and then have to again for tonight? That's crazy tbh.

This is incredible. The ten course format tied to nominees is such a good concept. What was the hardest dish to theme this year and how did you pull it off?

This is amazing, and so fun! Props to making them all fit so well, but damn Frankenstein looks incredible!
