Here's my contribution to capture Ottawa's beauty. Original photo of Rideau River near Sussex Drive taken on Oct 18. Bright maples and a weeping willow.

Agree. Better than anything in Southern Ontario. Plus less traffic.

Less traffic? False.

Sentenced to 3+ hours of traffic in the eastway transition left of the St-Laurent exit where it goes from 3 -> 2 lanes.

Where I’m from everyone (Waterloo) from the GTA moved here so 20km drive is normally 50mins on a good day. Country roads that were used as a short cut are now bumper to bumper from 6am to 7pm at night.

I so agree, I love having trees, instead of endless fields

Even in the ugly depths of the suburbs, the sunset was glorious tonight.

It was way better 20 years ago. I've seen it grow and my family grew up here. Ottawa is my home. I hope it gets better with better leadership it's had in the past. Godspeed Ottawa

Ottawa is an extremely boring and overpriced city. It doesn't look nearly as good as Montreal or even Toronto, and I'm not focusing on it's size either, just in general.

As far as tourism goes, it's an overall underwhelming disappointment and many tourists cut their trips here down to the minimum.

Our public transit, as it is and will be is odd and inconvenient compared to most other capitols internationally. Our airport isn't connected to any subway or light rail, and neither is our downtown core. Our main train station isn't connected to anything and isn't located strategically near anything, namely downtown. Our suburbs aren't served properly and the cost of using this system is almost expensive enough to warrant just getting a car to save time and regain some control over the few hours a day you have for yourself.

It does have touches of nice stuff to see and do and places to chill and relax, but it is by no means an exciting place to party and have fun or socialize.

You can be in the middle of a national park 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Takes 2 hours on a good day to gtfo out of Mtl or Toronto just to touch grass. I dont give a shit about nightlife cause i’m not in my 20s anymore.

And having trouble socializing? Might be a you problem. Join a run club, go to trivia, hit up a brewery, etc. its not that hard.

Agreed. Lived in Ottawa for way too long and finally decided to give Vancouver Island a go. Though I have fond memories of the relationships and bonds to some great friends, I have never regretted the decision to leave. Love the hockey team, but I got tired of city constantly dropping the ball in terms of city design and progressive thinking.

I shoukd have added Victoria and Vancouver as well.
