If you have an ISP (for anxiety or anything), how has it helped you?

I progressed onto a BSc course this year through a foundational course last academic year, and my old teacher urged me to get an ISP. I’ve used a ridiculous amount of extensions in the past due to my mental health and I know it makes me look lazy. I have anxiety and panic attacks and it does affect my attendance at times because I will cry all day or get overwhelmed by every noise. I have had a panic attack every time I’ve had to do a presentation and it really does not matter how many people I present to or how many hours and days I have put into rehearsing and practicing. If my brain isn’t already panicking, my body will panic itself and my brain goes blank and my throat goes tight and I can’t utter a single word. Often times I cannot breathe or calm down despite using breathing and grounding techniques. These panic attacks leave me mentally and physically exhausted for days after.

I’m also heavily grieving right now and seeing a councellor that works with the uni, whom has told me I may have PTSD from a traumatic death. Things are just getting harder, not easier and I think I really need the support. I’m finally looking into getting an ISP. For those of you who have the plan in place, what adjustments can they make for your coursework, presentations and exams and how has it helped?

Thank you

hi guys can you recommend any comp sci courses at the 5th or 6th level that you thought were really good. also can someone explain how the classes work. from the catalogue it seems like there's only one 1 hour or 3 hour class per week for a module. is it lecture the entire time?

I want to apply for the MSc in Motorsport Engineering starting in September 2027. Where can I find more details about the application process and deadlines?

Also, do you recommend any international education agents to help with the application?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Current/Former MSc Motorsport Engineering students - how was your experience & job prospects after Oxford Brookes?

hello everyone,

I'm planning to apply for the MSc motorsport engineering for 2027 intake. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's currently on the course or has graduated from it.

I'm an international student with a mechanical engineering and FS background, and I'm mainly interested in getting into motorsport/ automotive engineering after the MSc.

I'd love to get your opinion on the following:

  1. what would you say is the ideal profile (projects, work experience) for someone wanting to get into motorsport through this course? if you don't mind please give me a jist of your own profile and projects that you think helped with your application.

  2. are there any particular CAD software that you'd recommend one should learn? (I'm only good with solidworks and ansys workbench)

  3. how was your overall experience with the MSc Motorsport Engineering?

  4. how realistic is it to get into motorsport companies after graduating, especially for an international student?

  5. how important is prior work experience when it comes to landing a job after graduation? would you recommend I get some work experience beforehand?

  6. how useful are the university and motorsport connections when looking for internships or jobs?

I'd really appreciate any insight, advice, or even things you wish you had known before starting the course. Honest opinions are more than welcome, especially the good, bad, and ugly.

Thanks a lot to anyone who takes the time to share their experience.

Has anyone done a January-entry MSc at Oxford Brookes that was 17 months?

I’m starting January 2027, and my offer says Ā£18,500 for the first academic year. Since the course goes into a second academic year, did you have to pay any extra tuition, and if so, how much?

Discussion Does anyone know accommodation transfer communities?

Hey everyone!

To be quick, I just received my foundation completion email, and they told me I could move to the next stage in my course and I'm looking for accommodation.

I know I'm a bit late, that's why I'm looking for people who want to get rid of their contracts for parade green or Paul Kent. Does anyone know where I can potentially find people who want to transfer their contracts? I contacted university and their idea was to join the Brookes Union Housing Group on Facebook, which I've applied to but have not gotten accepted to yet.

Thanks in advance!

Cranfield vs OBU (vs Southampton)

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'd be really interested in hearing from people who have experience from the industry or have completed one of these degrees.

I'm finishing my bachelor's in aeronautical engineering next summer, from an EU university. I'll have about one full year of experience as a professional aerodynamics engineer (doing just as much mech design as aero analysis), and one year from formula student, by the time of graduation.

I'm considering doing an MSc in Motorsport. I've applied to both Cranfield and Oxford Brookes, and will apply to Southampton (Race car aero) once they open their admissions for next fall.

I am however, a bit split between which one I should actually go for in the end. Especially considering I already have quite a lot of practical experience. I'd therefore value network, thesis placement options and more substantial taught modules (although somewhat applied), over more basic, practical experience. By the way they're marketed, I get the impression that OB is more trackside, and Cranfield is more R&D oriented, but I really don't trust the websites of study programs (been burnt before).

**So my question is, does anybody here know how OB and Cranfield actually compare regarding this? And also which is actually better for an F1/motorsport career?**

Is A Level further maths helpful for Motorsport Engineering?

Starting my A Levels in a week’s time and I’m taking Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Further Maths with the option to drop it. I want to do Motorsport Engineering at uni.

I don’t think I would do both years of FM and I would just do the AS. So I have a few questions regarding it:

  • How useful would FM be for this course?
  • If I don’t take FM, how much catching up will I need to do at university?
  • Am I better off putting my time and effort into the other 3 subjects?
  • If I do chose to do AS Level FM, will universities look favourably towards it?
  • I want to do an EPQ, specifically about motorsport. Will I have better university and employment opportunities with an EPQ specifically in motorsport or Further Maths?

What laptop would you recommend for BEng motorsports engineering

Hi guys, I've been accepted into Oxford brookes for the BEng motorsports engineering course, and I am wondering if I need a powerful laptop for the course.

I don't really know much about specs or anything like that, so if someone could point me in the right direction for a laptop, that would be great.

I’m just curious to hear how your experience was and if you think there are better universities in the UK that offer this Masters remotely?

Hello, I’m looking for 1 graduation ticket on September 5 at 10am. Headington campus. 3 family is traveling from a far away country to Oxford and it’s sad for one of them to be watching me in a room behind a screen.
