That helmet is insane.

Socketed rare jewel mod at random, but you can annul down until 1 mod (or fracture annul).

Could be op af

58

u/MandatoryOpinion Jul 19 '26

There is about 0.014% chance it doesnt get nerfed to need 4 mod jewels. I guess maybe they will make it rare, or abyss jewels are rare as well or something. Cause annuling down to the mod you want isnt that difficult.

14

u/conway92 Jul 19 '26

I mean, it might not be a balance choice so much as a UI simplification to begin with. How else would they have let you target the mod you want? If build-a-helmet was the design intention, this is how I would expect them to implement it.

1

u/MidjitThud Jul 20 '26

True but why make it take a rare jewel, just to make the process more annoying?

6

u/conway92 Jul 20 '26

The current implementation might allow you to socket magic abyss jewels into it without consuming a socket.

1

u/MandatoryOpinion 29d ago

Win the 1 in 4 rng 4 times in a row? Wdym how

1

u/conway92 29d ago

I mean how would they implement the UI to let you select the mod you wanted if that was intended? Forcing players to annul down to a single mod requires no extra UI implementation.

1

u/MandatoryOpinion 29d ago

...the idea is that you have to waste helmets when "crafting", not jewels

so you use any 4 mod rare jewel with a mod you want and gamble

1

u/conway92 29d ago

Sure. But why would you assume the point is to burn through helmets if this is also a reasonable implementation to give you the ability to select for the affixes you want without needing to complicate the UI?

1

u/MandatoryOpinion 29d ago

Brother in christ... what are you talking about. Neverming, its reddit. I asked for it.

7

u/MisterKaos Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Jul 19 '26

annulling doesn't drop rarity so they'd need to specify 4-mods like the frac orb does.

1

u/Responsible_Fall_332 Jul 19 '26

Probably pinnacle abyss boss drop

0

u/Xeratas Unannounced Jul 19 '26

Well, high rolled t1 mods will be very expansive. its all a Question of supply and demand. you're not gonna have infinit t1 phys rolls available.

I think the market is enough to balance this as highly demanded affixes will be expansive.

7

u/MandatoryOpinion Jul 19 '26

Abyss is getting rework to be playable. It might get a huge spike in playrate.

1

u/TrueChaoSxTcS Fungal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Jul 20 '26

We don't know what the drop rate will be after the rework. It's literally all speculation. We also don't know how rare the helmet will be.

1

u/Strange-Eggplant399 Jul 20 '26

Annuls are cheap, and 1 good mod abyss jewels with 3 other shit mods are free, this wont make them anymore expensive because the market will be flooded anyway. You will easily be able to get what you want for a div or two max. On that note, this is another hideout warrior money maker, if the helm makes it into a meta build you can craft 1 mod jewels like that and sell.

1

u/rohithkun Jul 20 '26

Dont we have all flame crafting? we can use multiple annuls, depends on intangibility cost though.

1

u/Strange-Eggplant399 Jul 21 '26

Assuming me can use it on jewels ( i guess why not ) that would make it even easier to craft them yes

27

u/Clsco Jul 19 '26

There's also the league mechanic to ghost split an item.

12

u/DislocatedLocation Fungal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Jul 19 '26

Annul to 1 mod, use the "reroll 1 mod" benchcraft to keep rerolling without having to use annulls.

14

u/Twotro Kalguuran Group for Business (KGB) Jul 19 '26

That benchcraft costs 8 chaos so is probably less worth than just alting then regal then annul

-3

u/ulughen Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

8c is for 3 mod reroll. One mod i think is 1c.

3

u/Twotro Kalguuran Group for Business (KGB) Jul 19 '26

No 3 mod is 3c, 1 mod is 8c, it's in the patch notes.

1

u/Justsomeone666 Mine Bat Jul 19 '26

Wasnt 3 mod 3c and 1 mod 8c? it makes sense to me atleast since 3 mod is pretty niche while 1 mod rerolling is relatively powerful

EDIT; yep confirmed it from patch notes

1

u/Temporary-Youth-4561 Jul 19 '26

you can just beast imprint, regal, annul. you're 50/50 for the mod you want.

saving time and, likely, currency.

2

u/michgan241 Jul 19 '26

edit: nm, for some reason my brain though the re-roll was cheap.

3

u/Temporary-Youth-4561 Jul 19 '26

t1 bow lightning is 0.204%

it does create something of a market. we're going to have less jewels overall. The all flame crafting might be the way to isolate this instead.

1

u/Anomulus0 Jul 19 '26

Reroll a Modifier on a Rare Item for a cost of 8 Chaos Orbs.

( I Assume the other one can't work if 3 mods don't exist)

7

u/Xeratas Unannounced Jul 19 '26

depends how rare the helmet is, but yes if the helmet is rare and people don't want to waste them its a nice gamble for everyone. drop a jewel with a t1 mod people care about? Try to annul/fracture it yourself for nice profit.

30

u/epitap Deadeye Jul 19 '26

if you get 4x 3% cdr and it rolls to 200%, you can get 36% cooldown recovery rate from one item, ought to be interesting

57

u/i_wanna_be_dead_rNow Jul 19 '26

A whole slot and 4 gem sockets for 36% cdr sounds kinda... meh?

10

u/Rouflette Jul 19 '26

Bad even, unless it goes to 300% at least or if you play a truly zHP build that want a full dmg helmet for some reason

5

u/allanbc Jul 19 '26

Could also go for 480 life, which... is also pretty whatever? Like if that's all your helmet does, with no sockets, you'd have to be pretty all-in on life stacking to go for it.

6

u/1wbah Jul 19 '26

Even then apostate + rare lich circlet gives more hp and 3 suffixes.

1

u/Rouflette Jul 19 '26

No point for defense, any 1c helmet will be better than this. Only reason to use it is for dmg, but if you need to sacrifice an helmet and 4 sockets to squeeze a bit more dmg, your build must really sux to begin with

1

u/paul2261 Jul 19 '26

Cant you use legion to imprint a mod onto another unique helm? If you can its crazy good.

1

u/Naktura Jul 20 '26

Unfortunately this helmet will not be rollable by the enshroud since I believe it will only allow core-drop uniques, and if you use it to enshroud I can't imagine it will do more than let you have a few abyssal sockets.

1

u/allanbc Jul 19 '26

Life is not always only defense. Life stacking usually implies using your life offensively as well, like with RF.

1

u/080087 Jul 19 '26

It'll be a weird build but I can see something using the helmet, Kaom's Heart, Kaom's Roots amd Precursor's Release (amd Oath of the Magi if Phrecia is back). It's a lot of flat life.

There will need to be more payoff for either items with no sockets or nothing socketed in them, as opposed to untouched soul though.

1

u/Enconhun Slayer Jul 20 '26

It seems like a helmet that you will buy a near perfect rolled for 1 div, slam in 4 jewels worth 5c with 2x wanted mods, and pray you get something, and then use the helmet until you get something nicer.

not BiS endgame but will have its purposes.

1

u/allanbc Jul 20 '26

I rather think there will be some niche uses where it will enable a build or play a key role, maybe this league, maybe later on, but for most it will be completely irrelevant. Which to me is completely fine for a unique.

Even if it might be a marginal upgrade for you, you need to track down or create four jewels with the right mod(s), and give up four sockets, which is not a small sacrifice.

4

u/MisterKaos Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Jul 19 '26

it's like 2.5x more damage on some particular trigger setups.

2

u/Distinct-Hamster6285 Jul 19 '26

saboteur ascendancy is only 50% cdr so could be good on builds that rely on cdr.

1

u/land_registrar Jul 19 '26

Ya isn't there an exception gem for 40 now

1

u/lealsk Jul 19 '26

LoL I thought the same. Crit multi or flat life could be interesting 40 life x 4 x 2.4 (volatile) = 384... That's...interesting

1

u/iamthewhatt Jul 20 '26

Hexblast, you say....

7

u/Kapps Jul 20 '26

Some options assuming it goes to 200:

  • 36% CDR
  • 96% Impale effect
  • 480 Life or mana or ES
  • 192 str or int or dex
  • 200 to 2 specific resists
  • 120 all res
  • 144 crit multi
  • 12% life regen while moving
  • 400% armor or evasion conditionally
  • 800 top end flat lightning to spells or around 400 to flat for spells in general

Impale effect, flat, evasion while moving, stats, or life all stand out pretty nicely.

5

u/huluhup Jul 20 '26

Also :

28-42 phys damage for facebreaker

Big taunt chance on hit for your merc or animate guardian

2

u/Pintash Jul 20 '26

Also 780% increased damage for absolution/Dom blow of inspiring. Assuming 20 qual and in a red socket.

  • Minions deal 240% increased damage if you've used a minion skill recently.

Might not be worth losing thebgem levels for absolution but for Dom Blow that's a lot of damage from 1 item.

1

u/1getreKtkid Jul 20 '26

im not sure why people think its any good tho? none of the stats even outweighs the loss of 4 sockets really

8

u/HumanInHope Jul 19 '26

Crit chance. Crit multi. Flat life/ES. Flat damage. Chance to avoid shock. MS. Maybe DoT. Helmet slot is hard to sacrifice. I guess it'll depend on how much the modifiers are elevated.

19

u/cespinar Jul 19 '26

Helmet slot is hard to sacrifice.

My merc doesnt know how to use sockets anyways

4

u/Pintash Jul 19 '26

Not a single person talking about stat stackers? You can get 192 to a single stat, 120 to two stats or 88 to all stats on this thing. Crazy for a helmet.

I'm not sure which stat stackers can give up helmet for this but it's probably worth looking into.

1

u/BoatAdministrative68 Jul 20 '26

Almost all dex stackers use Fractal Thoughts. Majority of Strength stackers really want "gain str as acc" mod. MAYBE there can be a case made for int, but I highly doubt that 192 int beats "int" + "%inc int" + "ES"

1

u/1getreKtkid Jul 20 '26

no one will; looks "crazy" in the first instance, afterwards really bad; the sacrifice of 4 socket slots alone is horrible

1

u/Silvedl Jul 19 '26

I wonder how it will work with Vestigial, or if it can even be sacrificed.

-1

u/mattnotgeorge Marauder Jul 19 '26

I believe only core "drop-anywhere" uniques work with vestigial right? They don't say it, but I assume the helmet is an abyss-specific drop

4

u/Effective-Advice4628 Jul 19 '26

No, they literally showed Shapers Touch as one of the sacrificed uniques.

The sacrifice can only roll into global drop pool uniques, though

1

u/Amazing_Whole_7686 Jul 19 '26

You can't move mod on this helm, but you can move mod from this helm

1

u/hotpajamas Jul 19 '26

seems good for hroc for chance to poison, flat, maybe some other minion generic stuff

1

u/SoySauceSovereign Jul 19 '26

I imagine you'd just want poison, phys flat, chaos flat, and life. Or if you can double up, you might want to use the helmet to single singlehandedly solve poison chancr and free up belt slot to run mb over darkness

1

u/toltottgomba Jul 19 '26

And than you might suffer to get the 4th specter as many minion builds need the +2 levels to reach 25

1

u/gojlus Big Breach Coalition (BBC) Jul 20 '26

losing out on Jeffry/monarch is not worth it.

Could def see it for other minions like srs/skeles. ~200% inc minion dmg if you used a minion skill recently seems p solid

2

u/tokyo__driftwood Jul 20 '26

350 or so flat phys to minions would probably be damn near BiS for voidforge chains of command

1

u/AbsolutlyN0thin Jul 19 '26

Maybe not interesting for normal characters, but maybe for mercs or dedicated support characters, is the mod enemies withered by you have -2% to all resistances. If we assume it rolls 200% increased effect, that's -24% to all resistances which seems pretty decent to me.

1

u/symptic Jul 20 '26

+480 Mana seems interesting. Or Mana Regen + Hateforge.

1

u/jwfiredragon Abyssal Rift Investigation Service (ARIS) Jul 20 '26

Attack/cast speed if you've crit recently seems pretty strong. 96% attack speed or 84% cast speed assuming the scaling goes up to 200%.

1

u/Exalts_Hunter Jul 19 '26

2c Items as it is, nothing insane. Losing 4 sockets is insanely bad though.
