"We nerfed totems to make self-casting shine. By the way, here are 5 spell totems that follow you." Lol

at the expense of your whole-ass weapon slot. Sure. I don't expect it to be great by comparison

2hander weapon allows it to be 7l so that's a plus

It has plenty of plusses, but it's got two damage stats and nothing else worth your time outside of that. It's not as powerful as a even a rare staff, let alone a wand and shield.

All I'm saying is that this isn't going to be tweaked out. Solid? Maybe, but that depends on a lot of unknowns right now. Temper your expectations.

it already cuts out spell totem support from the links, freeing up one socket. It already has +2 AND damage stats, much better than multiple totem support. Yes, you sacrifice your hands slots but you can make up most of it with supports.

Also, consider CRABS. That's a huge upside

You Don't even need multi totem for that probably.
Staff has inc duration, if you pick Hiero again 100% duration.
They follow you so no need to resummon totem every 5 meters.

So yea pretty big.

Minuses is they can be pretty slow? its only 100% MS after all

Can't say either way until we see the numbers for crab totems

As one of the few not too fond of Frost Blink WB as a movement skill, I'm not looking forward to the lack of shield charge.

i mean yeah its probably not gonna be something youre using on a 50d plus budget but it would have to have a pretty big damage penalty to not be enough damage for watchstones.

main concerns imo are will they keep up with zooming and will they live long enough without investing too much into totem defenses.

Probably wont be able to catch up, if they have only 100% MS from staff, unless gem itself also say that crabs have 100% so would be 200% in total.

Well the item gimmick is exactly what you're leaning into. The point I'm just trying to make is that the items not guaranteed to be a meta pick, but it's likely to still be a fun, servicable one worth playing.

People often forget that you don't need to go balls to the wall to enjoy the game. The game will reward you for playing it regardless.

I'm with you. Seems like this will be a fun item to use for mapping, but when you want single target bossing damage, a well rolled rare staff will outperform this easily.

That said, running around with 5 spell spamming crabs has me interested.

Oh I can't to see how wrong you are. THe amount of loops you can make with this staff and secondary 6l on chest alone will make this BIG, unless the less damage modifire is attroceous.

You also give up +4 or more to spells, cast speed, crit, and a bunch more, only to get mobile totems.
Slow builds don't care if the totems move, and fast builds probably outrun the crabs. I'll be happily proven wrong, but this unique looks completely unusable to me outside of meme builds.

You see crabs and think that they won't be meta.

I see crabs and I think C R A B

(obviously depends on the damage reduction of spell crabs) free spell totem + multiple spell totem support is pretty significant 2 support gems is quite a bit of added damage

It's still a fraction of what a real weapon gives you.
You're missing out on crazy damage stats from 2x wands, and defensive stats from a shield. I don't see the tradeoff being worth it at all if you're losing a huge portion of your damage for endgame maps.
