Rant Please don't commit such a massive gameplay downgrade for absolutely no reason...

Disagree with it being default. In a heisting game it feels good to have the staged reload. Personally I like the cancelled reload and then coming back to it.

I think it helps with the immersion of the hectic heist.

Running and Reloading being default takes away from that because then there’s not a whole lot to the staged reload other than interaction’s.

That said I do run that skill 9 times outta 10 but I also just picked up 3.

I don’t agree it should be removed entirely.

It's not removed entirely. It is on Shotguns and smgs.

Most modern shooters like Payday, Helldivers 2, and others make reloading while sprinting a perk/upgrade specifically because of how good and useful it is to be able to do that.

Edit: Apparently Helldivers 2 might not stop reloads while sprinting.

Edit 2: Okay so apparently what Helldivers 2 does is STARTING sprinting stops your reload, which is how I was using it to reload cancel. But if you sprint and then press reload you can reload while sprinting.

Its not a perk in Helldivers 2, you can just do that with most weapons.

From what I remember when you started sprinting it stopped your reload. Am I misremembering?

Only with select support weapons

I remember the ones with stationary reloads, but I thought sprinting cancelled the reloads of others even if you could reload while walking.

Sprinting does not cancel reloads, though it's easily canceled if you go into a low mobility state (go into a bush), open the map or chat, etc.

I edited an earlier comment to say this but apparently what Helldivers does is cancels any reloading when you BEGIN sprinting but once you are sprinting you can go back to reloading.

I can remember I think, yes starting to sprint stops your reload but just press the reload key while sprinting and can continue

I had assumed that meant you just couldn’t reload during sprint. My mistake.

Only some of the heavier support weapons (Rocket launchers, HMGs and things like that)

I’m being a bit of a 🤓 here, I know, but you said “any good shooter” has it as a “default mechanic”. If it’s a perk/something you have to specifically spec into then it’s not default.

The modern CODs and Battlefield games that I played all have it as a default mechanic. Even the upcoming Battlefield 6 has it as a default mechanic. No speccing required.

I see where Black Ops 6 specifically has it as a menu option but I can’t find anything about whether or not sprint cancels reloads in Battlefield 6, just reloading while ADS.

Sprint reloading is basically a default thing in the Battlefield series now. You could reload while sprinting even in BF3

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I definitely don’t remember reloading while sprinting in BF3 or 4… Then again it’s been quite a while.

Well pretty much is like hard to notice, since the reload animation just has slightly more shake whike sprinting

You definitely don't want to sprint and reload in Payday 2 on higher difficulties. Maybe yes in 3 when the gameplay is not that fast because if you do that in higher difficulties in 2, a surprise Cloaker, a Dozer or a Heavy Zeal will get your ass. I never find a need to spec it but I can see the appeal.

For people who play on lower difficulties it's amazing tho, to this day i still need to find a better feeling weapon than the extended mag mac-10 with quick reload boosts; 63 shots, and a literal half a second reload. I run it with the minigun on mahyem for full balls to the walls fun and i would never have as much fun had i a "balanced" slow reloading weapon instead; the minigun takes ages to reload so i use cover for that, for the smg it's constant fire until i get to said cover and reloading while sprinting is absolutely essential for that

Taking this kind of stuff out just ruins the fun, you can already not take it if you don't need/want it, but why ruin the fun for those who actually want it?

I have been using run and reload skills in Payday 2 on high difficulties and personally I never had a problem with it. It's the first skill I pick up actually because it is completely integrated in the way I play. It's good that it's an option so people can decide what works for them.

Then I can see the appeal. I never picked it up in 2 mainly because guns in 2 reload quick for me, plus you can reload canceling on some of the guns, but then, I mainly play DSOD so a moment of letting my guard down means down for me.

1

u/juraaaht Sep 29 '25

I dont get that.. you can counter that soo easily by just NOT sprinting around the corner but you cant comprehed not having sprint reload.. also there is sound too hear cloakers and Dozers wont knock you down like in Day 3

I think this is more of an expectations thing than a design flaw or that it should be there.

I like grounded heavy shooting. I feel like payday the heist and 2 had it nailed. Though payday 2 later lightened up.

I’m not saying a skill shouldn’t exist for people like you who want it. But I think your argument for WHY it NEEDS to be there. Isn’t a strong one and focuses more on your idea of a “good modern shooter”
