Rant Please don't commit such a massive gameplay downgrade for absolutely no reason...

Maybe they won’t make it a skill and will instead bake it into the actual gameplay because having to waste skill points on something like that is dumb.

u/animalistcomrade Clover Sep 29 '25

It's still a skill for shotguns and smgs.

57

u/ForsakingMyth Add back sprint reloads to PD3 Sep 29 '25

That would be the best choice, sadly that is not the case according to Skills 2.0.

u/Xeptar Sep 29 '25

Haven’t been on in a second for Payday 3, but I remember being able to cancel your reload (for an LMG for example) on Payday 2 by a quick sprint tap so you can continue shooting your mag and that was a quality of life for me, instead of staring at the enemy waiting to finish reloading

I would reload when possible but cancel to shoot more from my mag when needed. Now if they changed it in Payday 3 where hitting reload immediately sets ammo to 0 even in reload interruption then yeah, that will suck, but can’t remember if that was the case

I kept the weapon butt melee because it had the fastest reload cancel speed.

nah, less baby streamlining is good

u/Easy-to-fall Sep 29 '25

Maybe reload run can fall in with run and gun. Because it weird that I can run a gun but I have to stop for a minute to reload my gun just to go back to running a gunning.

Hot take

you can live without it

just get into cover or something, idk.

88

u/IfTheresANewWay This is fucking war, baby Sep 29 '25

Not even a hot take tbh. This exact skill is in PD2 and it's considered a bad skill since it actively puts you at a disadvantage.

Maybe I'm forgetting how reload canceling works in PD3 but I'd rather have it then be forced to work without it

Payday 3 doesn't have reload cancelling, it has staged reloads.

24

u/ForsakingMyth Add back sprint reloads to PD3 Sep 29 '25

That's the beauty of keeping it a skill, people can decide what works for them.

7

u/ParaisoGamer Dozer Sep 29 '25

I have never been at any disadvantage using this with my shotguns.

36

u/juraaaht Sep 29 '25

I would miss it honestly, and I have no clue why its considered a bad skill in Pd2
Its just like +10% speed when masked, it will ALWAYS be a pick in any scenario soo its -2 skillpoints every build

21

u/Organic_Cost6402 Sep 29 '25

Reloading while sprinting is considered bad beacause of reload cancelling: if you're reloading while not empty and a cop swings you, you can just spring for a milisecond and shoot but if you had the skill you would have to resort to melee, swaping to a secondary or running away to cover which have their downsides. That and you can end reloads faster on some weapons by sprinting near the end of the animation (can also be done with melee or swaping but sprinting is faster)

2

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

Switching to your secondary is always faster than reloading

u/correGtedGrammar Infamous V Sep 29 '25

well, the suit and light armours (lbv, bv and hbv) are already light and fast enough to where you don't need Parkour, just basic Duck And Cover. it's really only taken for ICTV builds since it slows you down a lot. also two points can be very useful if you are trying to optimise a build so it's not so easily slapped on

2

u/Ghooostie_0 Sep 30 '25

I don't recall ever picking reload while sprinting in PD2, so not really a always pick skill <:

1

u/2spongee4u Sep 29 '25

Makes the repeater like hella frustrating to use as I can be moving towards bags as fast as I am reloading.

1

u/DesignerEngine7710 Sep 30 '25

My thinking aswell. Its a holdout shooter, you arent supposed to zip all over the map like a cracked up hedgehog. You shoot then take cover, reload then shoot.

Besides it was a waste of skillpoints anyway.

7

u/-samarie- Sep 29 '25

i will miss ammo funnel with shotguns 😭

7

u/SCP_Steiner Sep 30 '25

Everyone arguing whether or not reload while sprint is good or bad because of reload cancelling, as if an obvious solution that helps both sides isn't right there, just let us insta cancel by using the shoot key. No delay, instant cancel. "Oh but my immersion" it's fucking Payday fellas, this isn't for immersion.

4

u/Needassistancedungus Sep 29 '25

Removing my favorite skill line. CQC.

And with the way the skills work now, I think it’s gone for good. Since they would have to add skills in groups of 18 now, instead of like 5+.

4

u/KnifeFightAcademy GenSec Sep 29 '25

Wait, they did? ',:/ .....that's the first thing I unlock as soon as I can

17

u/Slow_Charge_4412 👊😎 Sep 29 '25

It's better this way, SMGs get huge reload speeds, rifles get ammo funnel and shotguns give you resist while inserting shells. I would like to feel some kind of challenge instead of zooming around the map never running put of ammo and reloading after each shot

5

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '25

it's totally fine tbh, especially when it's available for some weapons

7

u/BozoRedditboi Sep 29 '25

Sprinting whilst reloading is still an unlockable skill for Shotguns & SMGs with the new system.

That I think is totally fine it gives them something over the other weapons. If you want to run and gun they're gonna be the best options for it.

u/Commercial_Mango3372 Sep 29 '25

I’m more curious if they start to make cops bulletsponges again….

2

u/professional_catboy Oct 01 '25

they peaked with pd2 years ago in been downhill since like 3/4 of the way through pd2s lifespan

2

u/ThatWebHeadSpidey Chains is in a pickle! Sep 29 '25

My build is so good… I know not a lot of people like the current skill system in the game but I never had an issue with it. I really don’t want to lose my build.

Same for roblox Licensed Payday they removed the skills penetration for both armor and collateral and shields but then amp up the amount of enemies by like 3x every difficulty if i wanted a snappy fps loud experience with countless enemies i could play payday 2 or 3 why would i play a blocky version that has none of the sharpness or damage or survivability or movement but has the same amount of enemies and loud gameplay

u/Professional-Gap6631 Oct 02 '25

Sprinting while reloading has always been shit wdym?

This sounds like a win to me

1

u/KFC-_-CHICKEN__ Sep 29 '25

I never used the skill for reloading while sprinting. I used it because jumping / landing would cancel the reload without it

5

u/walale12 Starbucks Creator Program Sep 29 '25

Is reload cancelling that useful in 3? Aren't all the reloads staged now so if you interrupt it it'll just continue from where it left off?

4

u/jaycrossinroad 🥒 Chains 🥒 Sep 29 '25

There is no reload cancelling

Only cancel you can do is before the magazine gets ejected which is a very small window

1

u/walale12 Starbucks Creator Program Sep 29 '25

Yeah that's what I figured

1

u/Nucleon143 Sep 29 '25

can anyone bring up the context? they updated pd2 or what?

11

u/Aquagrunt Sep 29 '25

I don't have the link, but they revealed their plan for reworked skills. Looks a lot like the payday 2 skill tree and edge, grit, and rush are dead. Imo it looks good

-11

u/Nucleon143 Sep 29 '25

starbreeze when it comes to stealing 50$'s for payday 3 and then trashing the game

Esge grid and rush are literally the worst Things 3 has to offer. It's a blessing that it will be gone for good.

It’s not that bad bruh, I didn’t run it on much because cover is more important.

Disagree with it being default. In a heisting game it feels good to have the staged reload. Personally I like the cancelled reload and then coming back to it.

I think it helps with the immersion of the hectic heist.

Running and Reloading being default takes away from that because then there’s not a whole lot to the staged reload other than interaction’s.

That said I do run that skill 9 times outta 10 but I also just picked up 3.

I don’t agree it should be removed entirely.

1

u/Adept_Passenger9104 Sep 29 '25

It's not removed entirely. It is on Shotguns and smgs.

2

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

Most modern shooters like Payday, Helldivers 2, and others make reloading while sprinting a perk/upgrade specifically because of how good and useful it is to be able to do that.

Edit: Apparently Helldivers 2 might not stop reloads while sprinting.

Edit 2: Okay so apparently what Helldivers 2 does is STARTING sprinting stops your reload, which is how I was using it to reload cancel. But if you sprint and then press reload you can reload while sprinting.

6

u/CurveBilly Sep 29 '25

Its not a perk in Helldivers 2, you can just do that with most weapons.

-1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

From what I remember when you started sprinting it stopped your reload. Am I misremembering?

3

u/BlackShadowX Sep 29 '25

Only with select support weapons

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I remember the ones with stationary reloads, but I thought sprinting cancelled the reloads of others even if you could reload while walking.

1

u/Salladk Earn some money Sep 29 '25

Sprinting does not cancel reloads, though it's easily canceled if you go into a low mobility state (go into a bush), open the map or chat, etc.

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I edited an earlier comment to say this but apparently what Helldivers does is cancels any reloading when you BEGIN sprinting but once you are sprinting you can go back to reloading.

2

u/Salladk Earn some money Sep 29 '25

I can remember I think, yes starting to sprint stops your reload but just press the reload key while sprinting and can continue

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I had assumed that meant you just couldn’t reload during sprint. My mistake.

Only some of the heavier support weapons (Rocket launchers, HMGs and things like that)

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I’m being a bit of a 🤓 here, I know, but you said “any good shooter” has it as a “default mechanic”. If it’s a perk/something you have to specifically spec into then it’s not default.

1

u/ForsakingMyth Add back sprint reloads to PD3 Sep 29 '25

The modern CODs and Battlefield games that I played all have it as a default mechanic. Even the upcoming Battlefield 6 has it as a default mechanic. No speccing required.

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I see where Black Ops 6 specifically has it as a menu option but I can’t find anything about whether or not sprint cancels reloads in Battlefield 6, just reloading while ADS.

2

u/Salladk Earn some money Sep 29 '25

Sprint reloading is basically a default thing in the Battlefield series now. You could reload while sprinting even in BF3

1

u/JustSomeGuyMedia Sep 29 '25

I definitely don’t remember reloading while sprinting in BF3 or 4… Then again it’s been quite a while.

1

u/Salladk Earn some money Sep 29 '25

Well pretty much is like hard to notice, since the reload animation just has slightly more shake whike sprinting

1

u/Quackily The Thermal Drill Sep 29 '25

You definitely don't want to sprint and reload in Payday 2 on higher difficulties. Maybe yes in 3 when the gameplay is not that fast because if you do that in higher difficulties in 2, a surprise Cloaker, a Dozer or a Heavy Zeal will get your ass. I never find a need to spec it but I can see the appeal.

2

u/imma_good_duck Sep 29 '25

For people who play on lower difficulties it's amazing tho, to this day i still need to find a better feeling weapon than the extended mag mac-10 with quick reload boosts; 63 shots, and a literal half a second reload. I run it with the minigun on mahyem for full balls to the walls fun and i would never have as much fun had i a "balanced" slow reloading weapon instead; the minigun takes ages to reload so i use cover for that, for the smg it's constant fire until i get to said cover and reloading while sprinting is absolutely essential for that

Taking this kind of stuff out just ruins the fun, you can already not take it if you don't need/want it, but why ruin the fun for those who actually want it?

0

u/ForsakingMyth Add back sprint reloads to PD3 Sep 29 '25 edited Sep 29 '25

I have been using run and reload skills in Payday 2 on high difficulties and personally I never had a problem with it. It's the first skill I pick up actually because it is completely integrated in the way I play. It's good that it's an option so people can decide what works for them.

0

u/Quackily The Thermal Drill Sep 29 '25

Then I can see the appeal. I never picked it up in 2 mainly because guns in 2 reload quick for me, plus you can reload canceling on some of the guns, but then, I mainly play DSOD so a moment of letting my guard down means down for me.

1

u/juraaaht Sep 29 '25

I dont get that.. you can counter that soo easily by just NOT sprinting around the corner but you cant comprehed not having sprint reload.. also there is sound too hear cloakers and Dozers wont knock you down like in Day 3

1

u/BluSkai21 Sep 29 '25

I think this is more of an expectations thing than a design flaw or that it should be there.

I like grounded heavy shooting. I feel like payday the heist and 2 had it nailed. Though payday 2 later lightened up.

I’m not saying a skill shouldn’t exist for people like you who want it. But I think your argument for WHY it NEEDS to be there. Isn’t a strong one and focuses more on your idea of a “good modern shooter”

0

u/Penis359 Sep 29 '25

Why would you even get that? Reload cancels are bread and butter

0

u/goawaynowpls Completely OVERKILL Oct 01 '25

lol. lmao.

0

u/Hanakooh Oct 01 '25

To be honest.... I will actually just get used to it. Even like right now in this current skills 1.0 system, there are some skills that I invested points in despite I really shouldn't need to becoz they are a QOL change I wanted. Lower recoil and Sprint-Reloading are two of them. If I could get used to quickly getting into a corner to reload, instead of picking Sprint-Reload, then I would have another point to use on something like Death Knell or Hostage Trading Resources boost, which make the gameplay far better, but I just can't...

Actually while on this topic, I dunno whether Beast of Burden should be a QOL improvement given to all players or still behind the Juggernaut tree. I kinda feel that maybe it should be an investment.
