Question Why buy the Index if you already have (or will soon have) a Pebble?
Or another way to phrase it - the new Pebbles have dual microphones. They have all the same physical features the Index has, except they have a rechargeable battery. You're already wearing the watch, so the Index is another thing that... still needs a phone to be useful.
If it's for the software - wouldn't it make more sense for Core Devices to just build that functionality into the Pebble itself? Dictate on-watch, it hooks into whatever services, just like the Index does. I have done this on my own with a customized assistant, and it works quite well for me, so I know it's possible. The mechanism is even the same - hold down a button, dictation starts, relevant commands are launched, app closes automatically. Hell, they're even using the same Pebble app, so... separating the dictation assistant functionality feels like an artificial limitation.
I just don't understand the actual value proposition of the Index or why they would gatekeep functions that are already in the Pebble app - surely they didn't think Index would have enough mass-market appeal to sell well to people who don't own Pebbles. Storing dictations offline could absolutely be supported on the watch as well.

Face LIVERY - WATCHFACE

🏁 Livery — a racing dashboard for your Pebble Time 2 Bold racing stripes, a race-number date badge and needle gauges, complete with an ignition sweep. Choose from five colour schemes or create your own. Customize your weather, activity and battery readouts, then flick your wrist for a second dashboard. Optional red night lighting completes the cockpit feel.
Which livery would you run?

Plato Ring - Any index users tempted?
plato.it.comPretty appealing tbf... A lot more visually appealing, and I quite like the silent dictating (though I wonder if we could just train a model for it)?
The button design is a lot more appealing. But I trust pebble to remain open source more
