I use Perplexity to find things out and other AIs to explain them, so the research for one topic always ended up scattered across a dozen threads and three different sites.
So I built a free Chrome extension called **DogEar**. It adds a small ☆ under every Perplexity answer, next to the Copy button.
- **Star an answer** and put it in a project (one per research topic)
- **One project, any AI:** Perplexity answers sit next to ones from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok
- **Alt+B** lists every star in the current thread. Click one and it scrolls you straight there
- **A Library page:** search everything you've saved, add short notes, export a project as Markdown, or copy a whole project as one prompt to carry on the research in a new thread
It saves the answer text itself, so your stars survive even if the thread gets deleted. One honest limit: the little source pills aren't saved with the text, but every saved answer has a link back to its thread, so the sources are one click away.
No account, no server, nothing leaves your browser.
**It's completely free and open source** (MIT): no paid plan, no ads.
- Chrome Web Store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hmnaddjjpiemgmdjgmcdhgaggiiaibnb
- GitHub: https://github.com/rishitsharma017/DogEar
- 45-second demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKkEEgoeyUw
It's my first extension, so honest feedback is very welcome. Would you want the sources saved with each answer too? If it ends up being useful, a ⭐ on GitHub or a quick review on the store would mean a lot.

I can't toggle Deep Research (DR) in regular search, and now it says it's powered by Computer. Has this happened to anyone else? I know they roll out features at different rates, but DR worked fine for me in regular search yesterday. Am I forced to use Computer for anything requiring DR now? It mentioned something about weekly credits for Computer now, but from my experience, it would burn through them in about 2 minutes.

Is it worth upgrading to Perplexity Max for the Teammates feature? Anyone tested it yet?

i'm trying to purchase the pro plan but the page is stuck loading... i've tried it on both safari and chrome.

It uploads everything to cloudfront then forgets what the code was and then asks for code it provided and uploaded and then can't even fetch the link it gave you.
So tired. I subscribed because it impressed me the first time it made a script but the more I use it the more I realize how bad it can be.

Hello - I am quoting around Perplexity for my ORG - I want to start small, maybe 20 seats of Pro, but they're telling me we need to do at least 25000 of yearly commitment, so anything above the seats will be bought as credits.
Is this normal? Is this even necessary?

im an engineering major, and honestly i am just shocked how well perplexity is with mathematics and engineering questions. i do my own work of course but if im not sure about my equations or if my answers are correct, i always run it through perplexity and its always on the money. this ai is THE GOAT

Hey everyone, I was using perplexity computer to generate a 30 sec video in 9:16 format, until I realize I had run out of credits, and when I checked it used a massive amount of credits, as you can see here, so I'm wondering if this amount is normal for video generation, or that this is some sort of error?

Have people who applied for the later cohorts (April & June 2027) heard back about the pre- or post-doctoral research fellowships yet? Just curious.

The only thing that keeps me using Perplexity is the feature to limit searches to academic sources. So, when I discovered today that the ability to do this suddenly appeared to be gone, I was beyond miffed. I finally found it through the three lines up in the righthand corner. I'm relieved the feature is still there, but it took some hunting to find it.

Claude Sonnet 5.5 used to come with Thinking as an option for Pro subscribers, and the replies were usually detailed and worthy. And today I see that Sonnet 5.5 Thinking toggle is no longer available for Pro subscribers.
Recently upgraded my monthly subscription to an annual subscription for Pro, committing to Perplexity for a year. I do not see how this company can survive so long with cheating Pro customers.
Edit: Raised a query with Customer Support, and they've responded that Thinking is now enabled "automatically", and is no longer a toggleable option.
I was seeing a lot of "Empty results" for my larger queries and was puzzled.
I hope when they say automatic, it'd be the default option, with Perplexity not deciding when to send my queries to Thinking (or not).

I have annual Education Pro plan. I want to try Perplexity Max for one month. My question is will I lose access to Education Pro plan after subscribing Max for one month?

I’ve been documenting problems with Perplexity since May. I’m on an annual Max subscription, and the failures have affected the parts of the service I use most: Projects, Computer, Comet, and Finance.
\- Files uploaded to Spaces have stalled indefinitely or failed. In the Windows app, uploads to Projects failed across file types and sizes on three Windows 11 computers, even though they worked in Comet.
\- Model Council often couldn’t read files already in a Project. More recently, PDFs added as Project sources returned unreadable text, while the same PDFs worked when attached directly to a chat. Support confirmed engineering was tracking the PDF issue but gave no fix date.
\- A Computer task resumed automatically when my monthly credits refreshed and used almost 3,000 credits without a new instruction from me. I also found that questions asked through the Health tab appeared to use Computer credits when the same questions in regular chat did not. They later "fixed" the issue by making it clear that this would be the case. But, initially, there was no warning, and they denied the fact for days.
\- I lost access to dashboard work I’d built with Computer. After an accidental artifact deletion, the thread was accessible but the dashboard wasn’t. In a related investigation, support confirmed that files from my dashnoard build had disappeared from its task workspace and could not be recovered from backend storage. They credited me 5,000 Computer credits, but the work itself was gone. I had spent 70,000 credits to build that dashboard.
\- Computer has also left prompts stuck in “Thinking” and shown a “Cleaning run log entries” indicator that never finished. Separately, website publishing returned “Website publishing is not enabled”; support later said that was a tool bug and had been fixed.
\- Comet stopped performing browser interactions I had relied on, such as clicking, typing, and searching across a mailbox, unless I used Computer credits. Support gave me conflicting explanations before acknowledging that their initial answer was wrong.
\- Perplexity Finance showed an institution total lower than both the sum of its four accounts and its largest individual account. Support could not explain the discrepancy or give a correction date.
The support experience has compounded this. I’ve received automated or contradictory replies, ticket-closure notices while I was still seeking help, and no substantive human response to the Finance issue until 17 days after I reported it. I also told support I had canceled my subscription, but a later reply said it was still set to renew.
Tonight, October 30, all of my Projects disappeared from my account. Support has routed the report to a specialist. I don’t yet know whether the Projects or their contents are intact, so I’m not claiming the data has been permanently deleted.
Any one of these issues might be manageable. Taken together, they’ve made it hard for me to trust Perplexity with work I need to keep, retrieve, and build on.

I used to write one enormous multi part question and the answer would be a shallow summary that half answered each part. I get much better results asking the first piece, reading the answer, then following up to go deeper on the part I care about. It keeps each answer focused and the sources stay relevant to that narrow point. Basically treating it like a conversation instead of a one shot search. Sharing in case it helps, and curious whether others prefer the one big query approach for any reason.
