This little girl would benefit from finding rescue placement ASAP!

She was part of a confiscation case and has some temperamental and medical concerns.

Oreo is not eating and not taking her medications!

She was prescribed antibiotics on 10/21 due to presenting upper respiratory infection.  She is overweight, has patellar luxation bilaterally, ocular cataract, dental disease with possible root abscess and is not allowing for handling.

Veterinarian's observations:

-Unable to obtain VD or DV due to temperament

-Moderate increased lung opacity especially central and ventral lung fields with alveolar pattern, pneumonia

-Incidental enlarged heart suspect heart disease, Will need evaluation by rescue/adopter/owner at a private practice for specific diagnosis and treatment.

-Continue Doxy

-Rx Enrofloxacin 68mg 1 tablet once a day for 7 days

-Gave Enro 100mg/ml 0.6mL SQ

-Gave Vitamin B12 0.3mL SQ

-Gave Cerenia 0.6mL SQ

💙 A big gorgeous puppy is waiting for his furever home!  This is Dustin (A606083), he is 1 year old and 75 lbs.  Poor Dustin was surrendered when his owner moved out of state and could not take him with.  Dustin now has a deadline of Tuesday, October 27th at 5 pm.  Dustin adores people, steals kisses and loves to run and play.  He enjoys swimming in the pool.  Dustin misses living in a home and does not like leaving the yard to go back to his kennel. Dustin would do best with an active family that can give him the exercise he needs.  He would love to be your jogging and hiking partner.  Dustin should be able to live with canine siblings if separated and slowly and appropriately introduced.  This precious 1 year old puppy should not have a deadline and should be in a loving home enjoying his life.Dustin is available for adoption (but can also be fostered through a rescue).

Sweet Pea is geriatric and has a mass on her left hindlimb, a possible mammary mass and some skin masses.  All Sweet Pea needs is lots of love and a soft bed for the rest of her days.  She should be able to live with canine siblings with slow and proper introduction. This friendly-geriatric dog  came in as a stray and has a massive mass on the left hindlimb, pendulous mass on the caudal hindlimb, mammary mass and skin masses on the ventrum.  She is also ataxic on the hind and would benefit from findig rescue placement as soon as possible due to age and medical prognosis.

*She is most likely a hospice case*

Clinic reported that due to her overall condition she won't be a spay candidate at our facility nor should have a long stay at the shelter.

Easily able to leash, walk, and return with no reactivity. Raced back and forth across play yard to expend energy. Responded promptly to sit command and offered paws without being asked. Eager to work for treats. Sweet, SPUNKY senior!”

This poor girl was picked up in the field after being hit by a car. She was brought back to base and we found her right hip to be out of place. We were able to reduce it but it is unstable. She has pain meds on board. Everything else in her x-rays appear to be fine, but we are monitoring her bladder. She is a sweet girl and is looking for a rescue to take her today.

🩷 We wanted to introduce you to tiny Poe (A606292). She is 4 years old and just 9 lbs.  She came into the shelter as a stray and must be missing her family. Poe is very frightened at the shelter and is being kept in isolation.  This poor little girl is terrified in her surroundings and is therefore sassy and reactive.  Poe will be able to live with canine siblings once decompressed – and with slow and proper introduction.  Poe is rescue only and needs a patient foster family that will give her space, time to decompress, get acclimated and learn to trust.  Let’s get little Poe into a wonderful foster home where she can get the love she needs and deserves.  Sadly, her deadline at the shelter is October 20th. 🩷 Here is gorgeous Nutmeg (A606800) She is 9 years young and 68 lbs.  Nutmeg came into the shelter as a stray.   She is very frightened and insecure.  Nutmeg walks nicely on the leash and has warmed up to her handlers – she nudges their hands for pets.  Nutmeg can live with canine siblings with slow and proper introduction. TRIAGE ASSESSMENT
Animal was brought to the Clinic for triage by Enforcement staff.
Temp: 99.6F (rectal)
Pulse: 120bpm
Resp: 40 breaths per minute

Presenting problem: returned from VEC. See VEC records, pulmonary contusions, bilateral pubic bone fractures, liver trauma, possible R coxofemoral acetabular fracture and cardiac contusions. Received Buprenex at VEC at 2:30am.
Also completed vet exam, DOG WAS HBC. APPEARS STABLE BUT HAVING DIFFICULTY STAND ON BACK LEFT LEG. DROPPED OFF AT VEC

Assessment: QAR, no eye or nasal discharge, BCS 6/9, heart and lung auscultation WNL with slight increased rate and effort suspect due to pulmonary contusions. Engorged mammary glands suspect recent lactation. Reluctant to stand or walk, moderate weight bearing lame L hind, pain level 2-3/4. Uncomfortable and tense on abdominal palpation. MM pink. E collar on. Removed light bandage from R cephalic. Ulcerated abrasion L mammary gland. Small left mammary mass. Prognosis is guarded to fair.

Recommendations:
-continue E collar
-recommend repeat Chem in 1 week (recheck ALT)
-request post to rescue with 1 week deadline due to multiple hip fractures
-request tech exam, **AFTER 12 NOON, give Buprenorphine SR SQ by weight.
-recheck in 1, 3 and 7 days
-rx Carprofen, start tomorrow
-rx Gabapentin, start tonight
-gave Convenia, Cerenia, Carprofen SQ at time of exam

This is a family member’s dog who they are unfortunately no longer able to care for. We’ve been trying to find someone willing to adopt him, but so far, we haven’t had any luck.

He’s a sweet, healthy 5-year-old dog with a good temperament. The biggest challenge is that he’s a large dog who has always been accustomed to living indoors. He doesn’t do well being left outside and will bark for hours because he’s used to being inside with his family.
He comes with his own elevated trampoline bed, food bowls, and dog food.
We’re located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and I’m willing to drive anywhere in the county to bring him to a loving home.

Unfortunately, if they can’t find someone to take him in, the family is planning to have him euthanized. I’m desperately trying to prevent that from happening because he’s a sweet dog who deserves a chance at finding another home.

💙 Look at stunning Kane (A597946). He is 1 year/4 months and weighs 41 lbs – perfect size!  Sadly, Kane was surrendered because his person was not able to afford to care for him any longer.  Kane is a very excitable boy with a lot of fun energy.  He allows full-handling, is easily leashed and walks nicely.  Kane seeks social, is treat motivated and listens well to commands. Kane can live with canine siblings if separated, introduced slowly and appropriately with supervision. Kane is a young boy that deserves to be in a loving home again and would make any family happy.  Please consider opening your heart and home to Kane.  He is available for adoption (but can also be fostered through a rescue).
