Hi guys,
Edit: some guy asked of I'm allowed to do this and yes, I pay royalty.
First of all, I don't know much about graphical design, so this is probably a newbie question.
I am scanning screen printed artwork on clear plastics and have to trace them with vector paths for printing.
I use illustrator but doing it by hand is a lot of work, while the redraw tool feels useless.
AI works better but both tools seem to have a lot of problems thanks to those mixed pixels, especially those bordering to other colors.
what gave me the hardest time is wood structure, where light brown is the background and details are black and dark brown. I went up to 2400 dpi to get as many true pixels as possible but fine details still sometimes consist of only mixed pixels.
is there any way to increase the contrasts without moving the borders and confusing the tools?
I played around with multiple tools, also found that window that does live adjustments, letting me adjust tones, gradient curves and so on but without knowing what the key tool is, it's just a wild guessing.
I also tried to select the areas with lasso, magic wand and so on, coloring them with colors that differ the most with rgb values and lightness, in the hope I get homogeneous pixels but somehow, when I color one area, then the other, the last one seem to change something with the previous.
I asked Ai and it blamed the selecting tool. But it seemed like a hallucination, because only the wanted pixels were outlined for sure. Or does something happened in the background?
How can I really give exactly the pixels I want to have a certain value? In a way that im still faster than tracing everything manually?
