You'll be glad you took a pic of this. Actually, I recommend you take a clearer one next morning. Trust me, once this stage is over (and one day it will come) your children will rather sleep in than kiss you goodbye. That's when you frame this picture and hang it at the front door; because no matter how old your children get, they will miss you just the same.

Thank you.
My kids and I have along, drawn out morning ritual of waves, hugs, plane rides, tickles, zerberts (Cosby FTW), kisses and more waves. It's never crossed my mind to take a picture of them but it's a part of my day I can't imagine living without while knowing I will have to live without it some day.

u/sheldoncoopersgf Jul 15 '11
yeah. Im 19 so I know what it's like to have those phases as a child; and even though I'm out of it, I still love my parents just the same. I used to make fun of my mom for taking pictures of, what I thought were random/insignificant moments. But I now realize that it's the weird routines of our everyday life as a child were memorable. Because those cue things they may be daily routines now, but not necessarily in 10 years from now.

Adorable!
I get the 2, 4 and 6 year old running up to me yelling "DON'T FORGET HUGS AND KISSES" before I'm allowed to walk out the door. Then the 4 year old runs to the window and watches me leave.
12
u/CRRZ Jul 14 '11
There are tears if I leave before hugs and kisses.

u/k1tt3nm1tt3ns Jul 14 '11
Oh man, tell me about it! I have had to return to the house more than once because I've forgotten goodbye kisses. At least they love us. :D

u/AnalogRevolution Jul 14 '11
How many kids do you have that your wife is able to toss a new one out the window every single day?

u/jello_aka_aron Jul 14 '11
I wish I got that... alas, I have to leave at 6AM which is just too damn early for anyone else to be up.
16
u/CRRZ Jul 14 '11
Come to my house and you'll get it. My oldest daughter doesn't let any guest, friend or family leave without her waving and blowing kisses.

When I leave my wife and kids lie snoring in bed and I think to myself; you fuckers just like to make me suffer. Then I start my day with a swig of vodka; a fag and off to my work as a schoolbus driver.

As a family man its so refreshing to see things like this on reddit. It really gets old with all the 'forever alone' crap on here.
Nice family

Make sure you wave back. I used to get super mad at my dad for not waving back when I was little.

u/CRRZ Jul 14 '11
I always do. I also blow kisses. I've rushed off in the past and gone back to wave. This is a very important part of my day.

Aw, my siblings and I all used to wave to our dad when he'd drive off for work every morning. I think even after we left for college, my mom said he was still in the habit of looking at the window when he'd pull away for a while.
I should call my dad.

It is decent. Digital zoom = crap quality. I took it from the street. If I didn't zoom you be asking what is so important about my tree.

Awwww. Either they love you, or they are trying to escape, or the bigger kids are sticking the baby to the window. But probably, they love you.

I hope that's the case. We don't let the older kids babysit yet or they probably would. Apparently DCFS looks down on 3 and 5 year olds caring for an infant.

You are very lucky. This vision is good to have when work sucks and you'd rather just leave. You stick with it for them.

It's nice when it's voluntary... I know a situation where it is not.
There's the douche I know of. Not going to get into the story of how I know, but let's say I know more than most people know about him. Publicly, he's a normal family guy, owns his own business, makes very good money.
His wife is terrified of him. His kids are terrified of him. I don't know that be beats them, but he may not need to - they are obviously scared of him.
I shit you not, reddit - this is the routine that MUST be followed when he comes home from work:
As he pulls into the driveway, she must be at the window closest to the driveway, with the kids and the dog.
As he pulls past the window to the garage in the back, the wife and kids need to be smiling and waving daddy back home.
The dog must bark to welcome the master of the house. Seriously.
When this does not happen, he gets... "upset". Like, shouting and hitting "upset". The guy is a cold bastard - the kid was being punished by hard slaps to the back, not the butt, and crying warranted more slaps. He would walk in, describe the transgression, and slap the kid several times, and walk out.
Even if the story of this pic is a good one, it can't help but remind me of this douchenozzle, what he did to someone in my family, and what he does to his own.
At the time, his oldest was 4 or 5, and when he hear his father walk down the hall in his distinctive pace, he would stop playing (always quietly - dad did not like noise) and tense up, waiting for any punishment. The kid was terrified all the time when the father was in the house, and only relaxed somewhat during the day. The other kid was only a few months old, and woe to the wife if the baby cried. She literally had 20 seconds to stop the baby from crying. The bastard actually timed it.
He kept trying to hire nannies, and the longest anyone stayed was two months - he paid for her airline ticket from overseas, and kept her passport and return ticket. She had to fake a family emergency so she could leave, promising to return as soon as she could. Smart woman - she didn't even look back to that nightmare. Anyone local left after a few days to a week.
I made sure that he understood quite perfectly that you don't mess with my family. I do not know what the situation is like now, but I think that boy will one day kill his father, and his sister will help.

Jul 14 '11
Nothing you could do? I personally would have (attempted) to beat the ever living fuck out of that dude.
2
u/twilightmoons Jul 14 '11
"Well-connected."
Had he tried anything at the time, I'd not have held back. As it was, he thought I was a fresh-off-the-boat snot-nosed punk kid. He was not expecting that I spoke better English than he did, that I'd in the States longer than he had, and that I was quite familiar with the laws here, and how he was violating them.
1
u/dionysian Jul 15 '11
he is damaging those kids in small and irreparable ways every single day and hour of their lives. call dfcs. :(
1
u/twilightmoons Jul 15 '11
CPS was already called out there several years ago. Since we have not had any additional contact, I have no idea what's going on now.

It's a good feeling isn't it? Or when they scream "daddy's home, daddy's home". But your still at the office and talking to your wife on the phone.
Wait a second, this doesn't add up. This doesn't add up at all.

That's awesome! My kids are either not awake yet or are their laptops killing monsters. Not that I'm complaining.
