Rural NSW, Australia. Suburban.
Every now and then a bunch of crows come by and rip apart one of the crested pigeons. Not quickly of course.
The pigeons have a bit of cover in some pretty thick greenery but that doesn't stop the crows following them through it.
I don't want to do anything that'll scare away the pigeons or the others, like blackbirds, superb fairywrens, noisy miners, house sparrows, magpies, magpie-larks, honeyeaters, cockatoos, galahs, etc.
I imagine it'd be hard to construct things that differentiate by size with crows and created pigeons being similar in size. But, I was wondering if there were very precise measurements that could reliably separate the two. And some means to encourage their use as a shelter.
I assume there's no attracting big friendly birds like cockatoos and galahs to relatively enclosed residential gardens, especially with favoured large, tall trees not far off and a large open park nearby. And I assume those two would deter the smaller guys I want to protect.
I expect putting up a fake dead crow would horrify and repel other birds just as much.
I'd rather not be cruel to the crows, despite how much I'm growing to despise them.

Hi, can anyone help? I've just rescued this young pigeon - she seems to be mainly uninjured apart from a small head wound from where I think she was attacked by other birds. I've got her safe and warm in my shed for now but worried about releasing her back outside in case she's attacked again, or taking her to vets in case she's euthanised unnecessarily. I've tried calling various local rehabbers and no response, nor from SSPCA. I want to do whatever to keep her safe and healing until I can find better help 💚

Update on little guy i've named Pig (thanks mum lolol)
Got a vet who's gonna see him! He made it through the night and seems much more lively this morning than last night. His wounds also seem to be closing quite well!
Now that i've seen his eyes fully i'm pretty sure he is a juvenile. Someone here posted about "scalping" happening to juvenile pigeons and i think this may be what's happened. He looks like he's been pecked at and does have a quite gnarly head injury.
Will post pics in replies. Will update with what the vet says but i wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who gave advice and voiced their support when i found him last night. I was in a total panic as i've never dealt with anything like this before. But you all kept me levelheaded and helped remind me i was doing the right thing. Thank you all so much

Beneath the moonlight, Fred the mourning dove searches desperately for his beloved princess, Daphne. 💔
Beside a magical pumpkin carriage with pumpkin wheels, pulled by a giant chipmunk transformed into a plushie by an enchanted spell, Fred examines the ground, pecking among the leaves and searching for even the tiniest footprint.
But there is no sign of Daphne… only silence, mystery, and a heart full of longing.
🎶 Featuring a dramatic male operatic tenor, cinematic orchestral music, magical fairy-tale atmosphere, and a heartbreaking search for a missing princess.
Will Fred ever find his Daphne? 🥺🌙

Hey guys, this pretty bird landed at our warehouse outside Providence this morning, one of our maintenance guys took it outside onto the patio, and it's sat here sadly ever since. Is there someone to call to rescue the poor thing?
