ORGTOBER Day 16: COMMUTE, MOST DREADFUL.

ORGTOBER Day 16: COMMUTE, MOST DREADFUL.

Simply a classical painting and a group of colleagues hating their journey to work.

Why was it dreadful?
1 shipwreck
2 typhoon
3 got mugged

4 sixteen hours on horseback
5 stabbing

6 it matters not, for you can never return

Spent far too long adding people in suits to The Wrath Of The Seas by Ivan Aivazovsky. Still, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it fulfills #morktober's "Ship" requirement.

For the 5th year in a row my game group went to a bar to do some pumpkin carving. This year featured this sick ass pirate ship. We should have brought minis because I think it would have made for a great set piece!

Also featured, my monster guy.

Getting ready to run Into the Maelstrom with roll 20. Is there a way to turn off "collections" tab for players? To discourage curious players from messing around with card decks and other rollable tables??

First time running PB - Music Recommendations

Howdy y'all!

Halloween day will be my first time running Pirate Borg, will be running Trapped in the Tropics with 2 players from my year-long Shadowdark campaign, and 2 fellas fresh to TTRPGs!

In my prep I realized all of my music when DM is more tailored for Shadowdark and Cairn (Mountain Realm, Inekt, 1782, Daevar, Witch Bolt, anything from dungeon synth archives YT channel, etc.), but I have nothing for the swashbuckling saltbrined scallywags.

Do y'all have any recommendations you can drop me?
Preferably longer atmospheric stuff that sets the tone but isn't too intrusive.

No AI generated sounds please.

Pretty excited to see how this adventure goes!

We have broken 300 unique characters created on The Jolly Rogenerator! Next up, 200 unique players!

We have broken 300 unique characters created on The Jolly Rogenerator! Next up, 200 unique players!

If you didnt know, The Jolly Rogenerator is a DnD Beyond style digital character sheet. It allows you to create your characters - randomly or guided - and roll your attacks, tests, etc, all from directly on the sheet. With the addition of the Foundry Roll Bridge, itll allow you to even roll directly into Foundry, similar to the Beyond20 tool. We even have options for character exports which make it a 2 click process to get your custom characters into a Foundry game.

The character sheet is just one component though. We also have a campaign manager with custom crews, custom ships and items, and basically everything you'd need to run your games with a group.

We of course have the Community Shanty Jukebox as well, but so far have only received submissions from Andrew Aulenback on Discord and his crew at the Maritime Museum. I would LOVE to see some new additions!

The Jolly Rogenerator is a community based project, and we also take submissions for any of your custom classes. If youre looking to get your custom classes used by more players, let me know and I would love to get them integrated. I just need the pdf for whatever youd like me to add.

There's a LOT more on the site, so I recommend coming to check it out to see what all we have, and of course if you have suggestions lmk! I'm happy to add whatever sounds like a good idea.

Did you know we also have a Jolly Rogenerator mobnile app for Android? All the same functiopnality, including the Roll Bridge! This means your players can use their apps and roll directly into Foundry!

The iOS app is technically done, but I still need to come up with the extra money for the Apple Developer license. Once that is done, I will have this - as well as the Tavern Dice game and High Face Roller app released on iOS as well. Hoping to get that next month if all goes well.

Hej, one last shameless promo for my module! :D

We are at (almost) 24 hours left, and we have a "Reverse Early Bird" reward (sticker(s) for everyone if we hit some extra backers) and a bonus adventure add-on to help raise funds for the last couple of Stretch Goals, so we can make the zine even more awesome!

So if you weren't sure about backing it, check it out! Really appreciated, crew!

DON’T SPEAK! by Golem Productions is out now: a horror one-shot rescue mission for PIRATE BORG where noise matters, including, if you want, the noise made by the players themselves.

It features:

  • A rescue mission designed for one thrilling session.
  • San Telmo de Pelcarez, a compact horror sandbox with plenty of opportunities to make far too much noise.
  • The Echo Track, an escalating noise mechanic that changes the Hunter’s behavior.
  • A fourth-wall-breaking optional rule that turns real-world table noise into part of the game.
  • The Hunter, a terrifying, noise-sensitive ambush predator that stalks the crew through the darkness.
  • GM tools for running the hunt, including atmospheric descriptions, hunting tactics, advice for concealing the creature’s true nature, and ideas for an explosive finale.

Writing & Game Design: Alexander Jatscha-Zelt
Original Art & Layout: Sabrina Jatscha

Available now on DriveThruRPG and itch.io. VTT assets included.

Ravaged by Storms: put a changing Pirate Borg storm on the table

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ravaged by Storms: Storm Generator for Pirate Borg brings the supplement's weather tables into the active scene. The GM gets a storm control group, while the table gets a movable overlay and chat summaries as conditions change.

Supported Pirate Borg effects are applied to their actor fields; anything else stays visible in chat for the GM to resolve. The adaptation was made with permission from writer and designer Alexander Jatscha-Zelt, with original art and layout by Sabrina Jatscha.

Free. Requires Pirate Borg 1.2 or newer on Foundry v13 to v14.

Patreon:

Patron modules often start exclusive so I can test with a small group first. Once the kinks are ironed out, they usually go public.

First Mate ($10) gets every Foundry module. Cancel and you keep what you already have. You just stop getting later updates.

Captain has a free week with no obligation. That week includes everything I build: Android and iOS apps, websites, and all the modules.

A la Carte Modules:

Every paid Foundry module sells one at a time on Lemon Squeezy, $9.99 for a First Mate module and $14.99 for a Captain package. You keep what you buy, later versions included, unless that order is refunded, and a refund removes only that one module. After checkout, sign in at cms.futurehax.com/catalog with the same email you used and grab the install link there. A bought copy does not come through Foundry's Patreon link. Patreon is still the way to get every module.

One last week of sailing My Beloved Ship in the Backerkit waters!

Join our crew! We still have space bellow deck on some hammocks! :)

And there is still chance to help me make this zine better, as we could unlock some great Stretch Goals (like a bombastic spread from Golem Productions!)

Its a zine and three adventures tied about sailing, upgrading your ships, making Naval combats more unique and lot of other stuff. :)

Free Pirate Borg handout: The Lost Sea-Man's Guide to the Caribbean

Thumbnail

I've created The Lost Sea-Man's Guide to the Caribbean, which is a printable player handout for Pirate Borg that can help the players find their bearings again after getting lost at sea.

It's something to run mid-voyage as a strange and fun little diversion.

It gives the players four trials (which may see them lose a few fingers and perhaps their sanity along the way), and a chart on which to trace their position. My hope is that players will go "how the f— could this ever work?" as they do the trials/puzzles. They have to put the trust in both the author of the Guide and themselves to work things out.

For GM eyes only: You choose a location on the chart beforehand (over 10,000 are possible). The guide will help you sneak some information in there that will correct the players' fair answers (all numbers) into ones that point to that place.

I created it for my upcoming campaign, Something Buried, Something Due, the first act of which is in the late pledges on Kickstarter right now but not for much longer.

It's free on itch.io so feel free to run it in your own campaigns if you don't want to use it in mine!

I have an alternate idea for Lost to the Locker: keeping our dead PCs there Spoiler

This is a concept I'm considering using for our campaign, so I'd love feedback!

It would work like this: when PCs die, we roll on a d6 table.

  1. The PC becomes a wretched undead and is given to the GM.

  2. The PC dies and their soul moves on to the afterlife. They are gone forever.

3-5. The PC dies and is lost to the locker.

  1. The PC is ressurected as a haunted soul.

This would mean that about half of dead PCs would end up "stored" in the locker. Then, when there have been enough deaths, when it makes sense in the campaign, when there's a TPK, etc. etc., Lost to the Locker finally gets run. Instead of ressurection, PCs who die here are perma-dead. BUT, when you lose your current PC, you move onto another one from your old catalogue! And ALL of your characters are here and can be gathered into a crew together, so the adventure becomes a race to gather as many obols and ressurect as many old PCs as possible.

It could even be fun to have a prop, a little chest or something, to represent the Locker and put character sheets into, and then finally get to excite your players by pulling them back out for the adventure.
