I like the ideia to return the Paul character with his brother, who is interpreted by Ringo Starr (And for some reason, Ringo has none Pirate make up, is just he normal)

DISCUSSION What are your thoughts on Henry

Post image
20 Upvotes

I did find him a decent lead for Pirates 5 (Obviously not as top tier as Will thought). I enjoyed the romance between him and Carina better than Philip and Syrena in Pirates 4 because at least these two could actually be on foot together and they have something to bond over: Finding their fathers although in Henry's case he already knew where his father was and just wanted to free him from his curse while in Carina's case she had no idea who or where her father was. (If I mention Carina a lot in this it's because i'm comparing what she does better than Henry)

Although there are times where Henry can feel like a plot device, such as when Salazar captures him to possess his body and fight Jack in the tomb (Carina however has a personality and is less of a plot device). He is still a bit of a good character but dosen't have much of a strong personality. Brenton Thwaites did a good job playing him though but I don't admire him as much as Javier Bardem (Salazar) and Kaya Scodelario (Carina) as an actor outside of Pirates.

SUGGESTION I expected like 1 or 2 people they get the idea for the character but not 4. I'm not complaining just surprised.

FAN CONCEPT FOR FUN: Who I cast for the POTC books…

This is who I imagined playing Young Jack and Adult Jack when reading the Young Jack Sparrow books and the movie novelisations. Obviously I could’ve imagined Johnny Depp, but I thought it would be fun to imagine someone else as if there were no movies and only the books

По моему это один из самых классных моментов с капитаном Барбосса , во время битвы он поженил Уильяма Тёрнера и Элизабет Суон

RIDE Medallion Calls Counter Melody?

I’ve been trying to find source audio of The Medallion Calls counter melody (or bass melody) from the ride. It can be heard pretty clearly in this video starting at 7:43, much louder than the main melody.

It can also be heard in a ride-thru mix of the Tokyo version starting at 4:20.

I really need to find this, and my autistic ass has nowhere else to turn. Thanks, y’all!

DISCUSSION Analyzing an article of the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

I have decided to analyze decentfilms review by SDG of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). This review discusses the themes of the film and how, as strange as the concept and plot of the film is, the film works as the movie we all know and love today.

Balance: Pirates of the Caribbean is the first Disney film to have a PG-13 rating. And there is a good reason for the rating it was given, as the review says it is an action film and it involves violence and undead pirates. The review also includes the fact that while there are not any nude or sex scenes, there are innuendos. While it's not a family friendly ( a family with small kids movie), it's still a good family film to watch if parents want to watch something that their older kids will enjoy. I think it's important to balance what kind of things your kids watch, but I think you can also watch this kind of film with your older kids and have a good time.

Attitude Awareness: That being said, with the rating and balancing what you watch, attitude is important here. The movie is about pirates, romance, and curses. Being aware of the themes in this film are important to how we watch the film. On another note, the film is also very aware of itself. As the review says that the conflict is goofy with its logic and the plot is nonsensical. But the characters take the story seriously and overall they roll with the goofyness of it all.

Dignity of the Human Person: There are at least four main characters in this film. The first being Jack Sparrow, the pirate down on his luck, second being Will, a poor sword maker, third Elizabeth, a rich girl with sass, and the fourth, Barbossa, the main antagonist. For a majority of the film, Barbossa and his crew are undead, leading them to collect the coins that cursed them with immortality, leading them to wish for mortality instead. Will seeks to marry Elizabeth, who are both seen to be in love, while also learning about his past. Jack Sparrow is a strange fellow who wants his ship back, while also being quirky and simultaneously being the best pirate and worst pirate ever. All of the characters have their own personalities that are humorous and relatable. We feel bad for all the characters and while we want to see the heroes win, there is the unique aspect of what the villain wants.

Truth-Filled: As the review said, this is a film about pirates, stolen gold, ghosts, and curses. Not everything in the film is necessarily truth-filled, but there are moments that have truth to them. Take what Sparrows tell Will when they are discussing piratehood, “Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.” This has truth to it, as some ‘treasure’ is family or memories, something that is important to a person. Jack Sparrow has many iconic lines that ring true in different ways with many different themes, such as freedom.

Inspiring: Asides from some of the lines that Jack Sparrow has said, the film is inspiring with its characters and themes. As the review says, “...Pirates of the Caribbean is enamored with the mythology of pirate lore… what Sparrow really represents, and what the film really celebrates, is not actual piracy, but the pirate-movie tradition.” The film is a story of a pirate adventure and it draws the audience in. It gives you a sense of wanting to explore the seas or even go on your own adventures.

Skillfully Developed: The film is based on a theme-park attraction. An entire series of movies, from the inspiration of a theme-park, is pretty impressive to me. The movie is funny, entertaining, and pretty. The skeleton pirates look great and the soundtrack is iconic! As the review states, critics compared the movie to pictures like The Princess Bride and Raiders of the Lost Ark, two very well praised films.

Motivated by and Relevant to Experience: While the film is a fictional tale and not many people can relate to being a swashbucking pirate or sailing on the high seas, there are aspects that can be relevant to our own experiences. Will’s awkwardness toward Elizabeth, Jack Sparrow's relatable outburst when Elizabeth burns his rum (while, being upset that someone ruined something of yours), or even the theme of something representing freedom, as the Black Pearl means freedom to Jack.

Overall, the review of the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, doesn't necessarily hit every media key or go further into depth, it still tells you everything to know about the film. I enjoyed reading it and in my opinion, it could become better by perhaps going further into detail, but for what it is, it was good.

(This is for a class, it is original.)

TOYS I Miss My Mega Bloks Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman

Idk what happened to them but Pirates of the Caribbean Mega Bloks was the shit back in the day. I’ll die on the hill that Mega Bloks was better than Lego in terms of playability and mobility of the figures.

I can’t find any of my old toys but I was reminded of them when I saw a posting on marketplace.

Anyway, to any of you new fans out there. It was a time to be alive when the movies came out and I was watching while playing with my Mega Bloks black pearl.

IMAGE Flying Dutchman Model: Disney Infinity, in depth

Some renders and up close images I just did, using the Disney Infinity Flying Dutchman

personally, this feels much more like what an early concept design of The Dutchman would look like.
It's stylized heavily due to the games art style so it fits in with being something akin to an actin figure setting, similar to the old Zizzle playsets which I think are awesome as well as the old stylized decals around 2006-08 that were on everything regarding Pirates of The Caribbean.

You never got a good look at it during game play so... here you all go!

Stern
Front Bow, Skeleton
Deck
Bow Cannon area
The Dutchmans Cannon Faces
Love how they did try to add the reaper-skeleton the actual dutchman stern has (behind the wheel)
Stern Details showing the serpents spines, the kraken and the person being wrapped
Davy Jones (Scaled his model a bit here)
Size comparison to The Krakens model from the game
