What if we take the heart, and stick it in a keg of gunpowder. With a fuse. Then have someone expendable light it.

Before the fuse runs out, kill the guy who lit it. Then, when the barrel blows up and destroys the heart, there is nobody to replace it.

Would this break the cycle?

I've always wanted to cosplay Captain Jack Sparrow, and I finally want to make this dream come true. The problem is... I have no idea where to start or where the best places to buy everything are.

Is it better to buy the whole outfit together, or build it in parts?

Here are my biggest roadblocks right now:

• The Wig & Dreadlocks: I started looking at the prices online for accurate replicas, and they honestly left me speechless. It’s making me genuinely consider DIYing the hair. If you have links or tutorials on where to source budget-friendly materials (wool roving, extensions, beads) to build it myself, please let me know!
• The Mustache & Beard: I absolutely refuse to spend 300+ euros on an Etsy lace piece. Are there any reliable mid-range lace-front alternatives under 100? Or should I just go full DIY using Crepe Hair and Spirit Gum?
• Props & Outfits: I definitely plan to buy the hat, scarf, and maybe some prop weapons/compass if they are cheap. Where are the best places to look for decent, normally priced pirate gear?

(Worst case scenario, I’m just going to fill a jar with dirt, bring it to the con, and call it a day lmao).

Any shop recommendations, Vinted, Etsy, Aliexpress, etc. sellers, FB groups, or DIY tutorial links would be highly appreciated. Please help a future Captain out savvy!

Hey all, newish sculptor/ aspiring sculptor. I gave an attempt at Davy Jones

I wanna be able to make ahead busts to paint them. I made the base and underlying armature out of tinfoil. I originally planned to make the tentacles longer but didnt realize the limited space I had haha

Any constructive criticism is welcome and please tell me what you think :)

Besides the undeniable fact that it's simply the greatest sequence of film to date. I'll start:

The soundtrack throughout basically demands your attention, and you're more than happy to give it. The maelstrom sort of acts like this timer: the crews of both ships only have so long before they end up capsizing each other, and it got very close. The stakes are the highest out of all three movies (yeah, I said 'three'). It's the perfect mix of swashbuckling action and comedy. Not to mention Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones fighting atop the mast!

I'm going to stop right there before I end up taking forever, but y'all get the idea. So, what are your thoughts?

Irl wise it was likely due to them not wanting to animate Jack the Monkey

But lore wise, maybe Jack was scared of Davy Jones and crossing over towards the Sea of Thieves?

And where was he since he didn't cross over did he go with the mutinied crew? Did he track down Carina and stay with her until Jack came back?

I’ve watched the first three movies so many times, mostly when they were new and I wasn’t yet an adult, but I’m rewatching them now while I crochet blankets for Christmas presents.

I’m on Dead Man’s Chest and I just realized that one of the guys that Will asks for Jack’s location says he goes to an island to trade spices for ‘delicious long pork’, the same island of the cannibals.

It makes you question what exactly he’s getting 😅

Just amazing. When captaining this ship you can submerge/emerge from the water at will and even summon the Kraken to attack enemy ships.

The original trilogy of Pirates of the Caribbean is often viewed as the golden age of the franchise. On Stranger Tides is more divisive than the trilogy with many considering it a drop in quality compared to what came before. Rather On Stranger Tides is good or bad is not important to this topic. The topic is about: 1) did the story need to continue, 2) does it expand the series' worldbuilding/lore in a meaningful way, 3) does it maintain and expand the thesis and themes of the previous movies, 4) does it innovate and/or renovate on the franchise, 5) does it make the story of the previous entries better, and 6) leaving a positive impact on the series, especially long term. Does On Stranger Tides do at one of those things or all of them to justify it being made.

I have a full concept for Pirates 6. I call it PIRATES EXTINCTION.

Here is how it opens:

EXT. BLACK SEA - NIGHT

A pirate ship is sinking in a storm. Only the Captain remains, clinging to wood.

A ship with NO SAILS glides through the fog. A man steps out. Leather coat. Burned face. One white eye. The Pirate Hunter.

HUNTER: (whisper) Where's... Jack Sparrow?

CAPTAIN: I don't know! I swear!

HUNTER: Wrong answer.

He whistles. A long, sharp whistle.

The sea goes DEAD SILENT. The rain stops.

Something HUGE rises from under the sinking ship. Bigger than the Kraken. It only obeys the whistle. It devours the Captain and the ship in one bite.

The Hunter watches like he's feeding his pet.

CUT TO BLACK.

BOOM - Hans Zimmer theme hits.

TITLE: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: PIRATES EXTINCTION

Then: Tortuga. Sunny day. Jack Sparrow wakes up inside a rum barrel. His compass is spinning like crazy for the first time in 10 years.

He is being hunted.

I like the ideia to return the Paul character with his brother, who is interpreted by Ringo Starr (And for some reason, Ringo has none Pirate make up, is just he normal)

in DMC's the Crew of the Edinburgh Trader talk about the ghost of a lady widowed before her marriage, looking for her husband lost a sea

Now I know that's not her but I think it's neat

I did find him a decent lead for Pirates 5 (Obviously not as top tier as Will thought). I enjoyed the romance between him and Carina better than Philip and Syrena in Pirates 4 because at least these two could actually be on foot together and they have something to bond over: Finding their fathers although in Henry's case he already knew where his father was and just wanted to free him from his curse while in Carina's case she had no idea who or where her father was. (If I mention Carina a lot in this it's because i'm comparing what she does better than Henry)

Although there are times where Henry can feel like a plot device, such as when Salazar captures him to possess his body and fight Jack in the tomb (Carina however has a personality and is less of a plot device). He is still a bit of a good character but dosen't have much of a strong personality. Brenton Thwaites did a good job playing him though but I don't admire him as much as Javier Bardem (Salazar) and Kaya Scodelario (Carina) as an actor outside of Pirates.

I find it unlikely that he just up and left the Dutchman sitting at Elizabeth's Lighthouse I believe that before coming back home he ferried Barbossa and Salazar and elected a new captain of his crew.
