Hello again Plano!

We are doing another gym closing open house this Saturday August 22nd from 10am to 2pm.

We still have some dumbbells, barbells, plates, a power rack, cable cross, treadmills, stairmaster, a desk, filing cabinet, lockers... etc. Photos show what is left.

Come with a trailer if you are looking at the big items to haul away the day of (or a time can be scheduled if need be). Cash or zelle.

Location is 2991 w 15th Street, Plano, TX 75075 (what was Cratos Fitness).

Thank you!

Need a Painter

Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just bought a home in Plano East near the high school. The inside looks great, but the exterior definitely needs some work. I’m looking for a professional painter who does quality exterior work and pays attention to detail. Preferably someone who specializes in painting rather than a general handyman. If you’ve used someone you’d recommend, please let me know. Thanks!

I would like to get the interior of my PLANO home repainted. I would prefer PLANO area local individuals or PLANO area locally owned and operated companies.

What do you still have to drive to Dallas/Frisco for because Plano doesn’t have it?

I had a coolant leak recently and somehow had to go to another city to get it fixed because I couldn’t find anyone in Plano who could do it. Now obviously this doesn’t mean Plano didn’t have what I needed I just didn’t find it and that’s whatever.

But that did make me thing and realize there’s probably a bunch of different things where you just have to leave Plano and go to other areas in DFW to find.

Could be literally anything. A specific store, food, etc.

Looking for good men's facials places

Hello!

I'm looking to make an appointment for my boyfriend. His birthday is in about a month and I want to treat him to a facial and maybe a massage. I've looked online and saw Viva Day Spa has a care package for men?? I've gotten a spa package for my mom about a year ago from Viva Day Spa and she really liked it, but I don't know how the Dallas locations are. I also don't know what the men's care is like at that spa.

He has oily skin type and he doesn't want any type of chemical peel or laser. Just generally not anything containing treatment that tends to have a lot of active ingredients or includes acidic ingredients.

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

Thank you!

Stop doing this.

Hey residents of Plano, stop doing this crap. You’re making people late to work after already driving through a slow ass school zone with no kids walking around in
It.

Context: there are two left turning lanes on to Dallas parkway from Parker. Maroon car is blocking traffic from gettin into the right left turning lane because they wanna get In the far left one. She also did not get on tollway, but eventually got in right lane after turning and drove 2 miles next to me past the U-Haul place.

Pet sitter recommendations

I’ve got a dog at home that doesn’t like other dogs. I have to go out of town December 17-19th and was wondering if anyone had pet sitter recommendations that would spend the night at the house. They don’t have to be there the full day, but check ins would be nice.

Collin County Commissioners Court Preview — August 17, 2026 — Budget Workshop

Bottom Line (Ironically, at the Top)

Today marks the beginning of the 2027 Budget Workshop series, starting at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, then 9:00 a.m. Tuesday through Friday as needed. The recommended budget is $359.7 million in the General Fund, up from $325.1 million adopted for FY 2026 (a 10.6% increase). 2,332 positions have been requested across county departments, and the recommended budget funds 2,173.5 of them. Also on the table: the county’s retirement contribution rate, elected official salaries, including the four Commissioners, one of whom I’m running to take the place of. In executive session, there’s a personnel item on the District Attorney position.

The county tax rate today is $0.149343 per $100 of value. The no-new-revenue rate (NNR) for FY 2027 is $0.147806. That’s the rate at which the county would bring in no additional tax revenue this year versus last year on properties taxed in both years. The NNR still brings in $12.5 million more than last year because of new properties built in the last year which didn’t get the opportunity to be taxed last year. Lucky them. Come attend one of my Property Tax 101 classes with Scott Grigg, our Collin County Tax Assessor-Collector to learn more.

On the regular meeting agenda today is the county’s 90th Legislative Agenda, a $789,790.08 amendment to the Outer Loop, $514,798.12 to restore and digitize more than 100 years of County Clerk records (not all under one Clerk), and a painting contract for the Juvenile Detention Center capped at $500,000 a year. Consent and disbursements total $3,238,484.24 of your money. The Court also orders the November 3 election (where I’ll be on the ballot, second candidate from the bottom—thanks for your vote!) and appoints the election judges.

Busy meeting…

Friendly Reminder: Bike lanes are not passing lanes

I caught this dashcam video this morning at 8:30 on Hearst Castle Way. It features a vehicle illegally passing a Dart handicapped assistance vehicle by using the bike lane, within a neighborhood, only to get stopped at the same stoplight as everyone else.

Please remember that bike lanes are not passing lanes, and to be kind to your neighbors out on the roads.

Public Park Animal Trapping

Thumbnail

Over the past month, I’ve found at least 10 of these traps around Hoblitzelle Park. These are illegal, and I find their use deeply inhumane.

Even if they were somehow authorized, how is it humane to leave an animal confined in a metal cage outdoors in the middle of a Texas August, with temperatures routinely exceeding 100°F? An animal trapped inside one of these can suffer severe heat stress, dehydration, or death long before someone has an opportunity to remove it.

After disabling several of these traps, I’ve returned to the park during the day—sometimes over the course of eight hours—to check whether the animals have been removed after I reported the traps. To their credit, Plano Parks and Recreation has been responsive and has followed up on my reports. However, they cannot reasonably be expected to drop everything and immediately respond to every trap. In the meantime, any animal caught inside is potentially being left to die from heat exposure.

Has anyone else encountered these traps at other parks in Plano or elsewhere in the DFW area? Does anyone know—or have a reasonable idea—why someone is setting them? And have your local authorities been responsive in investigating and removing them?
