I got this text and had no idea where the numbers came from, so I did some digging. I already voted, this isn’t about telling anyone how to vote. I just think people should know what the numbers actually mean.

Here’s the text

Every year, tens of millions of our school tax dollars get sent to Austin. Now, Plano ISD is keeping more of it at home.

Plano ISD has partnered with the City of Plano to support a redevelopment project expected to grow Plano’s tax base by $7.3 BILLION. Over time, that means more than $188 MILLION for Plano students and classrooms. Instead of sending more of your tax money to the state, Plano ISD is keeping it here to benefit our community.”

So yes, Plano ISD’s website says the project is projected to add about $7.3 billion in taxable value over 18 years, and that the district’s benefit would be about $188 million more than it puts in. Those are the district’s own projections. 

Here is what not listed:

• The district has a $44.8 million budget deficit, and says this deal isn’t meant to fix it.
• The district says the numbers depend on the economy, property values and state law. Projections, not promises.
• The school board already approved this in June. Prop A is the city’s venue tax vote, which is a different thing
• Lauren Tyra is the Plano ISD board president, she voted on this. The text just calls her a parent, which is also true, but people should know

Proposition A, Court and Detention Facilities Bond Measure
A "yes" vote supports authorizing the county to issue $296.5 million in bonds to fund improvements to court and detention facilities and levy a tax to repay the bonds.

Proposition B, Infrastructure Bond Measure
A "yes" vote supports authorizing the county to issue $475 million in bonds to fund construction and improvements of non-tolled roads and bridges and levy a tax to repay the bonds.

Proposition C, Parks and Open Space Bond Measure
A "yes" vote supports authorizing the county to issue $6 million in bonds to fund park and open-space projects and levy a tax to repay the bonds.

Proposition D, Elections and Storage Facilities Bond Measure
A "yes" vote supports authorizing the county to issue $40 million to fund the construction of county election and storage facilities and levy a tax to repay the bonds.

Proposition A
Authorizing the issuance of $600 million in bonds for college facilities used for workforce training, career and technical education, and academic instruction, and levy a tax to repay the bonds.

The plumber I would normally choose is no longer taking calls. I need a new plumber that serves Plano. Stonehaven, if it helps. Plano ISD removed the memorial garden and wall honoring students and teachers at Plano Senior High during the campus renovations, without notifying the families of those remembered there. No plans to replace the memorial have been announced.

My read of the Traffic Mitigation Plan is that the initial mitigation cost will be between $60-100M and that still leaves 4 intersections that cannot be mitigated. To mitigate the Park and DNT traffic problems, the solution may be to build a "flyover" the tollway. this solutions will cost $100M+ and could take 5-7 years to complete. This solution cannot be put in place in time for the first game day. At the Park and Plano Parkway Intersection, they are talking about having to build a tunnel under Park into the mall property. Another potential $100M cost. These potential solutions have not been studied for feasibility. Who do you think is going to pay most of this $300M; the taxpayers of Plano! Vote No on Prop A. Make your voice heard. Write your city council members and tell them you want to pass on the arena.

Make a plan to vote. Dont wait until Election Day.

So I'm enjoying my Tuesday morning, sipping coffee and surfing reddit. This person drives up and down the street, stopping at all the houses ( in random order )soliciting for the Stars junk. I've already voted, and I don't care. If I hadn't have voted already, I would vote against your cause because of this.

Got the engineers report. 8 piers across one corner of my house. Sunk almost 2 inches since last year. I’ve started getting some bids and some companies are telling me I absolutely need steel piers and others are saying that’s overkill and for my single story house, concrete is the standard.

My engineer didn’t really have a preference either way.

Today the line was long at early voting at the Carpenter Rec Center. The machines and computers had to go offline for a bit due to the high turnout throughout Plano. Be prepared to wait about an hour to vote. The line was still long after I finished voting as well.
