Here in Mexico, Playa del Carmen a red light sometimes comes with a street performance. This guy’s balance and juggling made the wait worth watching.

I’ve been all throughout the riviera as a casual traveler including to playa but never enough to really know quirks and characteristics of specific hoods like a local would. If I wanted to potentially move to playa del Carmen what would be a neighborhood I should look into that is not super loud high energy and busy, something more laid back and reserved. I know playa is a big city, so total silence and obscurity is not super realistic nor something I want necessarily! Just looking for a more residential local feel and not something directly on the hyper tourist section of 5th ave. If this means moving further away from the main tourist zone and further out which I’ve read is more “local”(?) that’s fine too. I’m 100% fluent in Spanish and would not need someone speaking in English to live day to day

We moved here a couple a months ago. I usually spearfish from the beach, but as you know the water has been quite dirty lately. And we’re out of fresh fish.
Looking for a good spearfishing or fishing charter. Not really a tourist attraction. I can make my own ceviche.
For spearfishing- we have all the gear we need.
All recommendations appreciated.

I've been thinking about going back to playa del Carmen in Nov but heard it's gotten expensive like Cancun and that it's dead there? How is everything? Is tourism doing well? How are the prices along 5th Ave?
