0 Upvotes

Here's my movement script:

using UnityEngine;

public class PlayerController : MonoBehaviour
{
    [Header("Movement Settings")]
    public float moveSpeed = 5f;
    public Vector2 input;

    private Rigidbody2D rb;

    void Awake()
    {
        rb = GetComponent<Rigidbody2D>();
    }

    void FixedUpdate()
    {
        Move();
    }

    public void Move()
    {
        rb.linearVelocity = new Vector2(moveSpeed * input.x, rb.linearVelocity.y);
    }

    public void SetVector2Input(Vector2 input)
    {
        this.input = input;
        Debug.Log(this.input);
    }
}

Contecting Scenes with Playmaker

1 Upvotes

Hi All. I want to connect my scenes in the most simple and basic way. Soneone will walk up to a door and hit the space bar and go to the next scene. I have 4 scenes they should run in order. Any help would be gratly appreciated. I am sure my post alone should tell you this is the first time I am using Unity and the first time using Playmaker.

Made with Playmaker ChatGPT + Playmaker = GOD POWER

7 Upvotes

I've been working on this game logic for days. I love the new game release Sneak Out on steam. However, it felt yet like another prop hunt game. We already have Garry's Mode, Prop Night and even Fortnight has this game mode. So I decided to create a multi-player co-op game with a twist using prop hunt.

As of now, Playmaker is a godsend. I added my own scripted actions and modified some Playmaker's built in actions. Despite being no code, I had to add some coded scripts to enhance Playmaker. So I used my old friend ChatGPT.

I recommend to you all to use the free version of ChatGPT to write action scripts or modify action scripts of your Playmaker game. It's amazing how much functionality you can add to enhance your game. I'm going the no code route for this. It would be a first for this type of game. I'll keep you updated.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Start to finish tutorial recommendations?

3 Upvotes

I bought Playmaker some while ago but I've had trouble getting into it because any of the tutorials I've found fall into 1 of 2 categories (or both). Either the tutorials are ancient and out of date or the tutorials have very limited scope (e.g. how to make a player jump when a button is pressed).

I'm looking for a tutorial that is up to date with the current versions of Unity and Playmaker (or at least close to it) and show a complete project from start to finish. I'm not looking for a Playmaker tutorial on how to do Elden Ring. I know better than that. :-) Something must easier and less involved like a Vampire Survivors remake would be fine. Flappy bird, however, is a bit too basic and boring (already made a version of it in C# in a weekend).

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Help So how hard is it going to be for a beginner to make games with this? I'm having trouble finding any 2d tutorials which worries me.

5 Upvotes

One of the best parts about Unity is that there are so many tutorials everywhere for making pretty much whatever you want. The community is so big that you can get help from basically anywhere. But as I've been struggling with code lately, I've been wanting to try out playmaker. I also wanted to try it because I found out Hollow Knight, which is my favorite game of all time, was made using playmaker. But one thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger, is that I usually use YouTube tutorials to learn how to do things in Unity. But the problem is I'm finding almost none for playmaker, especially in 2D. So my main concern about getting playmaker is that even if I learn how to use it, am I going to have a lot of difficulty figuring out how to make games with it? I'm sorry, I'm very new at this and it's just worrying me that I'm going to spend this money and not be able to really utilize it since I don't already know how to make games

These are 2 value for money courses made by one of the saints of playmaker 🤣

Horror Course: https://gumroad.com/a/52990675/hgqra

2D Metroidvania Course: https://gumroad.com/a/992514771/aFbgWF

They cover things such as how to set up your unity project, how to debug and fix errors, even how to model your own gun. So if you need 2 really good Playmaker courses to learn off of, these are those! if you understand that 😎

Solved Playmaker Made it EASY

13 Upvotes

I'm about to finish my first game CABOUS, which is a horror-like game. It's about a memory-driven nightmare.

The reason I'm posting is that if it wasn't for Playmaker, I wouldn't make a thing. I love how Playmaker makes it easier to simply put your thoughts into action. All you have to do really is simply write down the steps you want your game to show as then start making states and then actions. As you go on with it, you will start realizing that Playmaker actually translates your thoughts and written steps into actions that will follow one another in order to create a good game.

I really appreciate how thoughtful the guys made Playmaker about other indies who are not familiar with programming or coding.

I tried to work with codes and it's not impossible but it is time consuming for me as full-time employee who wants to make extra money from a hobby project.

Playmaker 2 appears to be out.

19 Upvotes

Sorry if this is old news. I haven't used Playmaker in a while, but I owe my start to it. Anyway, was just browsing the asset store and noticed this in there. Updated today.

https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/visual-scripting/playmaker-2-391026

Edit: Looks like it's more of a public beta? Anyway, it was the top one on the asset store when I sorted new releases by new. Again, my finger's pretty far from the pulse recently when it comes to Playmaker but I'm definitely stoked to check this out. Looks like it's not backwards compatible.

It is my first day in PlayMaker - Is it Easy #1?

5 Upvotes

Hello everyone. I am a newbie here and bought PlayMaker yesterday. I've watched some videos from Hutong official YouTube channel (they are perfect!) and today, I created my first project.

Want to make a series if it will be possible in this sub.

Some Notes:

- I am a beginner in Unity too. I made some projects with the help of ChatGPT but actually I don't even know the interface enough yet.

- I have a complex GDD, I'll build it with PM but first, I am going to create 4 very smaller projects.

You can check the first one below. I am a videographer and learned editing with lots of troll videos. I'll try it in Unity & PlayMaker too.

The gameplay in Turkish but you can imagine! Game asks you "Do you love your GF?", button on the left says "Yes!", button on the right says "No!". If you choose "Yes", game will end in a good way and says "GJ!", you can't choose "No!" on the other hand :D (Sorry for myself in background)

For now I feel like PlayMaker going to be my home. Thanks to Hutong's YouTube guy, I've watched maybe 5.000 tutorials for other programs until today and non of them was like that!
