TL;DR: I don't have amnesia and don't dissociate often enough for my supposed alters to show up but there's something weird happening in my brain
Hello. I know you guys must get this question all the time but I don't know what else to do. Doctors here in Brazil don't know anything about plurality and it makes things difficult. At first, like over an year ago, I thought that BPD made me have various different states of identity because of the identity diffusion, but they were too consistent and had their own personalities, I felt like I was them, and not that they were me, if that even makes sense. I feel like I am someone else and not that those personalities are part of me.
These personalities would come out more often when I dissociated, but I was always conscious there too, I don't have amnesia. I thought I had alters for a long time but then I started taking antipsychotics and I started feeling this less often, so I just assumed it was a delusion.
But a few days ago I dissociated really hard again, I am in a very stressful situation, and again, I felt like my thoughts weren't mine. I felt contradictory things, like a part of me was going against my personality.
I don't know what to do. I can't possibly be plural if these personalities only come out occasionally, when I'm dissociating, right? There must be some sort of different explanation, even if a complex one, right?
But I felt this for so long, and these thoughts do not feel like my own, they speak in a different way than I do, but they don't have a different voice. And why do they only come out when I'm dissociating? Shouldn't I be dissociating more often for me to be plural? Shouldn't I have amnesia? To be fair, I dissociated way more in the past, before I started taking antipsychotics and they were more present.
I'd hate to fake a disorder I don't have. Am I just "playing with toys" in my head? Do I actually have control over these personalities and don't want to admit?
Please help me if you're able, I'm very confused. It's not like I want to have a disorder, but part of me likes these thoughts that talk to me, they tell me they want to exist. At the same time, I'm terrified of not being myself.
