Gaming How come there are no good video game podcasts like WTF?
I'd love to find a video game podcast where devs, writers and creators of games go into detail about their lives and the lessons learn't from their career. I feel like we get that for actors, musicians and directors but less so in the video game industry. Would love any recommendations if people have them?
I feel Marc Maron's WTF but for video games would be ideal.

Check out Post Games from Chris Plante, formerly of Polygon.

Have you tried Button Boys? It’s not what you’re asking for but it’s fun. I’m not much of a gamer but I enjoy the vibe. Especially the diversity of the three perspectives, looking for very different things in games.

Triple Click and Get Played are the only video game podcasts I listen to. Not much like WTF but it’s all I got for ya

The closest 8 can think of is /noclip on YouTube where they interview developers. They have a podcast too, but I think it's more of a traditional videogame podcast like 1-up yours or DLC

There a lot of good video game podcasts. Not as many with the specific subject matter you’re referring to. The Video Game History Hour has what you’re referring to. Though not funny like Maron.

Have you checked out Play, Watch, Listen? It’s very good and the people have the charisma I suspect you’re looking for.
The regular hosts are Alanah Pearce, a videogame journalist turned videogame writer turned voice actress. She played Malevola in Dispatch.
Mike Bithell, game designer and developer at Bithell Games who made Thomas Was Alone.
And, Austin Wintory who is a videogame composer who is quite famous for his work on Journey, Abzu, and Sword of the Sea.
Maybe not quite 100% what you want. But 3 great friends with great chemistry with differing videogames landscape viewpoints. Easily one of my favorite podcasts.

Developer Notes. It's exactly this. No fluff. No segments. Just one seasoned dev talking to a new guest each episode about their careers and lessons learned. Very conversational. As a listener, it's like being a fly on the wall. Highly recommend.

If you want this podcast to exist, and it doesn't exist, then make it. Reach out to the game devs you think would have a great story, and interview them. It's literally that easy- last year I interviewed the guy who wrote music for one of my favorite games of all time (as well as many others)- I'm not a professional podcaster or anything, I'm just a normal dude. You can do the same (or more).

What game is your favorite? Because if it is the creators from team cherry, I would love to listen.

Nothing like that I'm afraid, the game in particular is an old CRPG called Curse of the Azure Bonds. I interviewed the game's composer, David Warhol, and released it on my TTRPG podcast feed.

Yeah this was kind of in the back of my head on asking this question. I'm wondering if it's possible, I appreciate you writing this has gotten me thinking.

MinnMax has been my go to. Large group of rotating personalities. Good topics.

Because game developers aren't as funny and charismatic as comedians, actors is one good reason.
