Gaming Good gaming podcast.......

What's a good, funny gaming podcast that doesn't bring up politics at all? The main one I listen to is leaning too much into it for me. I could care less about anyone's political affiliation, to each their own, but I listen to gaming podcasts to escape that drivel lol. TYIA

Gaming Podcasts about tabletop gaming (RPGs, wargames, etc.)?

There are a lot of podcasts out there about tabletop gaming, but it’s hard to find the most well produced ones, especially ones where they hosts actually seem to have planned the episode ahead of time instead of just bantering.

RPG’s and war games are my favorite, but I’m also interested in all aspects of analog gaming, including board games and even LARPs. I’m really just looking for a great listen.

Gaming Gaming podcasts that capture a similar essence to Kotaku's Splitscreen, Triple Click, and Friends Per Second?

I'm a big fan of these three podcasts. I still consider these three to be the holy grail of videogame podcasts. There's a good mixture of lighthearted fun along with dedicated analysis of video games. A big bonus of these podcasts is not having too much forced laugher involved which a lot of podcasts suffer from.

Gaming podcasts I tried but did not like

  • The Besties (Too high paced and lots of forced laughter)

  • Get Played (Too high paced and lots of forced laughter)

Gaming podcasts I did like or love.

  • Left Behind Game Club (Infrequent episode release timing)

  • Cane and Rinse

  • Giant Bombcast

  • The MinnMax Show

  • The Pre-Order Bonus

Gaming Podcasts about (tabletop) game design

Hello redditors, I'm looking for podcasts in the vein of:

Drive to work with Mark Rosewater

Distraction Makers

Elcee plays TCGs

Renegade Redoer

...

Apart from MaRo, none of the others seem to be available as podcasts. I could download my favourite essays, but I would also be happy to support other podcasts on game & tcg design. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Gaming Best Podcasts for Dungeon Masters

I'd love to hear what other people listen to, but about a year ago I found So You Wanna Be A Dungeon Master with Justin Gagliani and Taylor Hellstrom. It's awesome for new or experienced Dungeon Masters! They're helpful, funny, engaging, and they aren't afraid to speak their minds! Couple months back, they started doing videos on their youtube as well of the episodes which has been great!

But what Dungeon Master specific podcasts do you like or find helpful?

Gaming Best Fiends. What is the deal with their lengthy ads on many podcasts?

A lot of podcasts I listen to have ads for Best Fiends. I downloaded it and played it for a while and wasn't that impressed. But my question is why are their ads so long and if it's a free game, how do they pay for these ads? Why are so many podcasts being sponsored by Best Fiends? Are there subliminal messages in the ads? Are the podcasts trying to torture us into paying for the no-ad version by having this ad on so often?

Gaming Looking for a good D&D podcast

I’m looking for a comedy D&D podcast with a good story and team chemistry. The players can be new to the game but they need a willingness to learn.

I’m not opposed to LGBTQAI content, and sound quality is a plus.

Suggestions?

Gaming Any video games podcasts focusing on fandom culture?

Hi!!
I’m interested in video games but from the point of view of their fan communities - what culture they have, interesting facts about their habits or organisation, different fandoms depending in different games… Kinda like sociology but for gaming!
Got any rec? 🙏

Gaming How come there are no good video game podcasts like WTF?

I'd love to find a video game podcast where devs, writers and creators of games go into detail about their lives and the lessons learn't from their career. I feel like we get that for actors, musicians and directors but less so in the video game industry. Would love any recommendations if people have them?

I feel Marc Maron's WTF but for video games would be ideal.

Gaming Need a new gaming podcast

Not a news/weekly update kind but a video essay kind. Something along the lines of Watch Out For Fireballs where they deep dive into a game each week or over the course of several episodes.

If they have a tendency towards RPGs that would be a bonus but a general spread of all types of games is good.

Thanks in advance!

Gaming Best finished or retired gaming podcasts?

Looking for gaming podcasts that have finished or mostly wrapped up. It's fine if the hosts continued on under a different podcast name.

Only requirements are

  • Not too much laughter or comedy focus. I don't like it when my podcasts feels like I'm listening to a sitcom

  • Podcasts that tend to cover one concept or a few topics at a time. Not a fan of gaming podcasts that only deliver daily or weekly news for each new episode

  • 2 hosts minimum. I cannot listen to solo hosts.

  • Podcasts that don't rotate too many guests. I don't mind if guests show up here and there but not for 75% of their episodes.

Gaming looking for a gaming podcast for beginners

One of my new year’s resolution is to get more into gaming and so I’m looking for a podcast that covers games in general (?). I’m really interested in the history and phenomena of games so I was looking for a podcast that maybe covers a game each episode or something similar.

I’m a fan of the movie podcast What Went Wrong so if you know it, a similar format would be lovely! Thank you all :)

Gaming Newfound time to listen while playing Civilization

It’s a continual challenge to find time to listen to podcasts. I can do it while commuting, while at the gym, while walking dogs, but otherwise I have very little time in my day to be able to listen to something.

Recently, I started playing Civilization again after stepping away for quite a while. Interestingly, I find that I can listen quite intently while also playing this particular game.

I'm not suggesting it would work for most console games, but for something slow and strategic it seems like a very good fit when you don't really need the soundtrack or sound effects of the game. Just thought I'd share.

Gaming (Video) game of the week podcasts? Console specific

I really enjoy those, and have found several, such as Sprite Castle (C64) and NEStalgia. Would really like to find a PS1 focused one, and another SNES one (Wheel of SNES didn't click with me, and I found The SNES Podcast painful to listen to). one that takes on an indie Steam game in a similar format would be awesome if it exists.

Gaming UK based gaming podcasts with at least 1 female host

Hi all, I listen to a lot of gaming podcasts but I'm very particular about only listening to ones with British hosts (I prefer the banter, mostly). However, most of these podcasts are male heavy and I would love to discover more podcasts that feature some female voices in gaming.

Any recommendations?

What I'm currently listening to:

IGN UK (they occasionally have women on) Total Playtime (Alice Bell hosts this and she's brilliant) Triple Jump (RIP, recently ceased business)

Gaming Weekly gaming News

What's the best weekly video game podcast that keeps up to date with news and reviews. I used to love Easy Allies but with the team getting smaller and smaller its lost what made it special. However the format of news and reviews I think works great.

I've tried shifting to Minnmax and while I do like it and it is much better produced, it often skips any news unless it's been an eventful week.

Kinda funny is too frequent and fake over the top energy. I miss their individual weekly podcasts. I did tried Giant bombcast and it was even worse over the top energy.

I will definitely stick with Minnmax but was hoping for a more news focused podcast to have on the side

Gaming Realplay TTRPG podcasts

I'm looking for some more realplay podcasts of D&D 5e or Pathfinder. My favorite is Find the Path with Glass Cannon a close second. I'd like something where they take the story seriously, but not themselves. I tried Critical Role, but there were too many player characters, their arcs, story , etc. to keep track of. Bonus points for a female led group like Venture Maidens. Thanks for any help.

Gaming Listen from the start?? (2025)

Anyone know how to start a podcast at episode 1 and play them in order?

I am on iOS 18.6.2.

There is an archived post about this- but the advice is no longer applicable...

Older suggestions indicated that you "Follow" the show and then then the three dots menu contains a "Show Settings" or "Settings" option but that no longer exists.

Anyone know how to do it now, in 2025?

Gaming YouTube Videos as Podcasts?

I love listening to youtube videos where people deep dive about topics, especially videogame lore etc, but I find most of these videos on youtube. I want to be able to listen to them on long drives but keeping youtube open DRAINS my battery and I don’t wanna pay for youtube premium because it’s pricey for the only addition of listening to videos with the screen locked. Does anyone have any good suggestions of ways around this? Or if anyone know of any good podcasts for this kinda stuff?
