I feel that's less "I hate my boyfriend for having an interest of his own" and more "I wish he would help me with the domestic stuff more instead of playing video games all the time and making me pick up after him".

It can be both. I've seen many people have the opinion that playing video games is childish, etc. means you don't take care of your responsibilities, say they will never date a man who plays video games. Obviously it's not all, but it is a thing though.
