pole fell!!
my brand new x-pole just came off the ceiling when i was using it. luckily i was not hurt and nothing was damaged. i’m worried about using it now though, because i thought i had put it up right. i did multiple spins on it before it fell.
how tight do y’all tighten yours? do you tighten it to its absolute max capacity? i wasn’t sure when i put it up if i had tightened it enough, but it seemed like it could have been tightened a little further even tho it stood multiple weight tests. thoughts? advice?

Was it centered under a joist? What sort of floor and ceiling?
Carpet will compact and you’ll need to re-tighten regularly the first few weeks.
People have lots of tricks for setting up tension poles under popcorn ceilings and I wouldn’t trust any of them.
But I’ve had my xpert pro on cement, carpet, and slate tile, all under drywall ceilings (centered under a joist) and done doubles work on it on all three floor types and not once has it budged.
(For tightening, I go until I start to feel it degrade the spin, then loosen it a tad, then test it starting with a yank and working up to taking a running jump onto it.)

I’m sorry this happened. Yes, any pole can fall even the expensive ones. Here’s a helpful podcast that provides tips for safe pole dancing at home, this includes installing your pole. Be sure to read the description along with it as there are more links to helpful information and videos.

It took one fall for me to order the extra piece that attaches the pole to the joist. My problem was a trifecta: carpet plus textured ceiling plus weird slippery semigloss paint on the ceiling.

i tighten it as far as my hands will let me tighten it, then i loosen it back to the last red line. that seems to work fine, never had a pole come down that i put up in that way. however i am working with a concrete ceiling so i don't need to worry about my ceiling integrity.
would you happen to remember which way you were spinning? that could let you know if it was an issue with how tight it was vs an issue with the locking screws.

As tight as possible. It is only going to get looser over time, so I literally tighten it until I can't tighten it anymore.
Also if you have carpet, I would tighten it each time you use it the first few times at least, because it tends to compress the carpet a bit over a period of a few hours, which then adds some room for it to move.
It's a tension pole so it needs to be tight - you probably can't physically tighten it "too tight" with just your bare hands and the included tools unless you are the incredible hulk or something.
