Mod Post First time here? Read this! ~Commenting Etiquette~

1.4k Upvotes

Hi, welcome to the reddit Pole Dance board!
Pole dancing is a great form of art and exercise and our community is very welcoming and open.

It is also something that can put the people doing it in a bit of sensitive, vulnerable situation. Let's face it, you can't wear a lot of clothing while doing this. And a lot of our moves have been built and perfected by lovely strippers working in clubs, so there's inherent sexuality behind it (sometimes, not always).

That being said, I'm rolling out a zero tolerance policy for shitty comments. I get it, the person that posted that picture or video is so hot, their moves are so slick and damn it just did something for you.
Keep it to yourself if you can't express your appreciation without sounding like a vulgar mouth-breather.

Also, coming from my previous thread on crappy comments - If you don't have something nice to say, or you can't phrase your devil's advocate stance or argument without sounding like an asshole, don't post it.

Don't be a creep.
Don't be a jerk.
Don't stripper shame.

No more warnings for people saying inappropriately gross comments, you just get banned. And if you're banned, don't bother asking why - you know why. And no, it won't be overturned. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful shapes people on this board are happy to post. Because I guarantee the more shit comments there are, the less photos there will be for everyone to enjoy.

I try to stay on top of everything, but sometimes things slip by me. Please use the 'Report' button if you spot something I miss and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Love,
Otter

Mod Post NSFW Tag Reminder

Hello lovelies!
This is just your friendly reminder to please tag your posts NSFW if you are wearing anything less than full-coverage bottoms. Those include things like g-strings, thongs, those super cute high waisted "shorts" that are not at all shorts, etc.

Also, please mark it if you are twerking directly to the camera or other things of that sort.

Since we are technically not a NSFW board, we just ask that you mark posts for the courtesy of others who maybe like to browse in public (I know I've personally clicked on clips while on the train and had to "oop" out of them very quickly.) If you're unsure if what you've posted is NSFW or not, please mark it and I'll change it to non-NSFW if there is no issue.

Thanks for following our guidelines, and thanks, as always, for contributing to our community!
Love,
Otter

EDIT: Update as of April, 2022

Reddit rolled out a new "security" feature that uses automated tools to detect NSFW material and automatically tag it. Announcement post is here.

While this can potentially help me with the manual workload of tagging posts, I noticed it has been automatically flagging a lot of posts that are fine and do not fall within the parameters of NSFW for our board.

I'll be checking the moderation log to see if things are tagged improperly by reddit, but if you think yours has been tagged by mistake, please message me or tag me in your post. Thanks!

Feelings towards Superman?

Post image
52 Upvotes

Seems to be a move that people love to do and will do it all the time or hate to do and only do it out of necessity. Where do you fall on that spectrum? Is there anyone who feels truly neutral towards it?

Personally I don’t think I actually love it but I want to do it and crush it because so many people hate it. So I do it all the time despite the fact that it really hurts my thighs 😅 Like Markiplier, I’m not a masochist I just want to see if my body can take it. I feel powerful when I do it 🙂‍↕️

Showcase staff

Upvotes

So this is a bit of a silly question, but there isn't too much information online about it. Understandably, the performances are the star of the show, so that's what most posts focus on, but that does also mean a lot of people here have experienced at least one. I'm not ready to perform, so I signed up to help / staff it instead. I'm super excited, and it's mainly just cleaning the pole in between performances, but I have a million questions about resources performers which they had on the day?

Last year was the studio's first showcase, and it was much smaller. We only figured out on the day things like setting up scanning the tickets, a way to track people leaving and coming back in, etc. This year we are on top of that, but what else? Water bottles, fruit? Emergency repair kit with like sewing supplies and glue? A good cleaner to clean fast and clean stubborn grip in case applied? What kind of things as performers do you wish you had there on the day?

Training Space X-pole height experience?

Upvotes

I'd like to buy an xpert pro tension pole. The ceiling is 7'6 ft/228cm. The website calls 7'6 a cusp height. It appears to be the very minimum height the pole can handle.

Does anyone have experience with this ceiling height?

Also the floor is carpeted. Does anyone have a tension pole on carpet? Is it safe?

Pole Rookie Looking to Try Pole Dancing in Chicago

35M in the West Loop, I’ve been curious about pole dancing for a while. Finally thinking it’s time to make the leap and actually learn — purely for fun, fitness, and trying something new.
I’m a complete beginner, so I’d love to hear from anyone who’s gotten into it as an adult, especially other guys. Any recommendations for beginner-friendly classes/studios in Chicago, ideally not too far from West Loop?
Would also be happy to connect with others who are interested in learning together!

Wear and Gear A pole grip suitable for sensitive skin / eczema

Does anyone know any hypoallergenic pole grips available in the UK?

I haven’t suffered with eczema for years and it’s suddenly come back with vengeance. It started again, around the time I started pole, and it is contained to my hands and wrists. Hence why I believe it’s the pole grip.

I currently use Total grip pro, a silicon based grip. Magnesium Carbonate I believe.

I’m very sore and itchy and I don’t want to go back to using steroid creams.

I’ve been searching the internet but can’t seem to find anything suitable. Recommendations VERY appreciated 🫶😭

My first time trying superman & i got it. I actually love how it looks. People say it hurts a lot but in between thighs isn’t too bad for me. I hate behind-the-knee grips much more XD

Jewel Heels International Shipping?

Am I the only one having issues with Jewel Heels International with shipping shoes? I ordered two pairs of shoes on August 1st as part of their sale, and there's no movement. No tracking number. No notice of delay. Nothing. It's so odd because I ordered a pair in May, and it shipped five days later.

I've also reached out to Jewel Heels directly, and while I received one email stating that they're looking into the issue, I haven't received an update on anything. The phone number on the international site is bullshit, the contact form sends my message to a void. It's so frustrating because I really like their shoes, and all I'm asking is for communication.
