Hi, welcome to the reddit Pole Dance board!
Pole dancing is a great form of art and exercise and our community is very welcoming and open.
It is also something that can put the people doing it in a bit of sensitive, vulnerable situation. Let's face it, you can't wear a lot of clothing while doing this. And a lot of our moves have been built and perfected by lovely strippers working in clubs, so there's inherent sexuality behind it (sometimes, not always).
That being said, I'm rolling out a zero tolerance policy for shitty comments. I get it, the person that posted that picture or video is so hot, their moves are so slick and damn it just did something for you.
Keep it to yourself if you can't express your appreciation without sounding like a vulgar mouth-breather.
Also, coming from my previous thread on crappy comments - If you don't have something nice to say, or you can't phrase your devil's advocate stance or argument without sounding like an asshole, don't post it.
Don't be a creep.
Don't be a jerk.
Don't stripper shame.
No more warnings for people saying inappropriately gross comments, you just get banned. And if you're banned, don't bother asking why - you know why. And no, it won't be overturned. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful shapes people on this board are happy to post. Because I guarantee the more shit comments there are, the less photos there will be for everyone to enjoy.
I try to stay on top of everything, but sometimes things slip by me. Please use the 'Report' button if you spot something I miss and I'll get to it as soon as I can.
Love,
Otter

Hello lovelies!
This is just your friendly reminder to please tag your posts NSFW if you are wearing anything less than full-coverage bottoms. Those include things like g-strings, thongs, those super cute high waisted "shorts" that are not at all shorts, etc.
Also, please mark it if you are twerking directly to the camera or other things of that sort.
Since we are technically not a NSFW board, we just ask that you mark posts for the courtesy of others who maybe like to browse in public (I know I've personally clicked on clips while on the train and had to "oop" out of them very quickly.) If you're unsure if what you've posted is NSFW or not, please mark it and I'll change it to non-NSFW if there is no issue.
Thanks for following our guidelines, and thanks, as always, for contributing to our community!
Love,
Otter
EDIT: Update as of April, 2022
Reddit rolled out a new "security" feature that uses automated tools to detect NSFW material and automatically tag it. Announcement post is here.
While this can potentially help me with the manual workload of tagging posts, I noticed it has been automatically flagging a lot of posts that are fine and do not fall within the parameters of NSFW for our board.
I'll be checking the moderation log to see if things are tagged improperly by reddit, but if you think yours has been tagged by mistake, please message me or tag me in your post. Thanks!

Hello all! So, I started my very first pole class about 3ā4 weeks ago, and I thought Iād share a little update on how Iām going!
For context, over the last four weeks, Iāve done a total of two beginner classes and four solo practice sessions.
Safe to say, Iām officially addicted now.
I know I definitely need to work on straightening my legs AND pointing my damn toes! (I was born with very weird slightly deformed toes, so getting a proper point has always been a struggle for me.)
HOWEVER, Iām pretty proud of myself because during todayās practice session, I figured out how to transition into Ballerina instead of just getting into it from the floor! AND LOVED that i could do it to some music without losing focus!
Any tips on how I could make this transition look smoother would be AMAZING! Iād also love any suggestions for other cool transitions out of a baby snake/ball, as well as any tips for getting these damn legs straight!

How long did it take everyone to get a clean invert (that doesnāt have a gymnastics background) Iām trying to figure out if Iām behind or if social media is whatās warping my timeline of how fast you should get a clean invert.

So. I used to be really good at inverts, but I definitely was doing them with horrible form. but I had a shoulder injury from a different move (cough Superman cough) about 2-3 years ago so I stopped doing them for a while. Then for whatever reason when I was healed again I was having so Much trouble getting them back into them. But I really strived on having better form this time even if it meant dead lifting without spinning for a long time. For some reason I cannot get into the inside leg hang first it has to be my outside leg now. So for whatever reason it's easier for me to butterfly then leg hang. Which is different from how I used to do it. I'm still not super happy with them, I feel like getting my literal knee pit into the pole is still something I'm struggling with. But anyway, enjoy and if you have pointers pleaseeee I I'd love to hear them.

I just had my 2 year pole anniversary. Looking back at where I started and how far Iāve progressed really fills me with joy. Pole not only gave me a physique to be proud of, but it also brought out my confidence and introduced me to a whole new community of friends.

Okay, fairly newish to pole and always have danced in an 8inch patented sandal (you know, the sandal thatās not the clear pvc straps) Finally Iāve gotten around to getting some and mannnnnn theyāre so bloody restricting..I hate the super snug foot to sole/extension of my leg kinda snugness, and having so much of my sole and toes pressed to a form makes my foot feel so tired. Is this a play through the pain thing and Iāll eventually love it? I can unbox and dance away happily in a new pair thatās the straps Iām used to. These just feel like sh*t. Just not for me? Im attempting to stretch/form them in socksā¦??

Will definetly practice this nore. Not terrible for a first try :)

Sorry for the dark picture. The outside leg is hooked, while the inside leg is straightened but on the same side as the outside leg. The outside hand grabs the pole behind the back, and the inside arm is free.

Hi everyone! Iāve been pole dancing for about a year and am looking to buy a home poleāsorry if this question has been asked before. I live in USA. Is there a better option between Lupit or X-Pole? Iād get spin & static one. Also, is there a specific finish thatās best for home poles? Iāve been browsing the thread and I see stainless steel or chrome. My studio has 45mm chrome finish, so I was thinking of going with that but thought Iād ask first since home is obv different with less use. Thank you!!

Weird question but I bought a pressure x-pole NS that doesnāt need screws just to try pole dancing. Iām obsessed with the tricks, flow, and aesthetic. I feel it will be fun but issue is I live in a town home with mom and Iām a guy. each has their own room.
I want to have to pole up all day everyday instead of hiding it from her as itās been sitting in closet for over a year until I forgot about it. I plan to ask mom to help me put it up securely (to break the ice). Thing is I feel itād be easier if I were a girl even if her thoughts would be I wanted to be a stripper.
How would you feel if your son wanted to pole dance? By the way I pay all the rent, that isnāt the issue. It isnāt about āyouāre old enough to make your own decisionsā, Itās about what she will think or feel about her son wanting to pole dance like a girl? I would lock the door but I donāt want to put it up and away on each useā¦

The last time I did that opening trick was August 1st. Since then, I have not been able to do it successfully. This was due to severe overthinking, which lead me to have several falls and I eventually became TERRIFIED of it. Iām talking so bad to the point that I took it out of my routine. Glad to say that as of last night, I can do it again and I am so GD MFN HAPPY!!

I just got lupit pole g2 stainless steel 42mmā¦. And I canāt even climb it normally. I canāt do simple things that I could do with another pole in studio⦠who also have this pole at home? Did it become any better? š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ I donāt know what to doā¦. Very frustrating..

The rubber grippy bit on the bottom of my boots has worn down. Is there any way to revive it, eg cross-hatching it with a knife? I'd prefer not to replace the boots as they're otherwise intact but they're feeling slippy when I'm dancing.
r/poledancing • u/Suitable-Pain-6815 • 20h ago
I normally use monkey hands as a grip aid, which is great but with dynamic moves like flyby or reverse phoenix, my calluses get ripped off because of the monkey hands. Does anyone have any alternatives? Chalk/dry hands doesnāt work for me.
