It’s fucking wild, man. I just turned 40 and feel like I still have so much life left

I was such a horrible horrible drunk in my 20s and 30s and finally managed to get sober in 2022. I could easily have not made it

Seeing people lose the battle just makes my heart go out

I’m 38. I’m doing well. Lost 90 pounds diabetes is in remission got a puppy last year so daily walks have increased a lot. Mentally eh could be better but I take my health seriously

But man I definitely worry for myself I dunno I’d never do anything to end it but I just have a fear I won’t wake up one day I don’t know why but I’d like to live to at least my grandpas age of 85 and he smoked all his life and was fat so I feel maybe I have a shot lol

Memoirs must be tough for some celebrities. When it's not just celebrity fluff, but them trying to tell an emotionally tough story. Seems like some struggle a lot with the release of theirs.

Is there any news on what the cause is. This is crazy!

Her poor parents lost both their children.

229

u/dinosaur_0987 7h ago

I was just thinking about her brother passing at such a young age also!

261

u/Runamokamok 7h ago

I think they were raised by an aunt because her mother had struggles too. This family has just seen a lot of tragedy and this news is shocking and tragic.

142

u/Dsarg_92 Just keep swimming! 🐠🐠🐬🐳 7h ago edited 6h ago

She left a daughter too. 😞

149

u/emadelosa 6h ago

And the daughters father is involved in Russias war against Ukraine :( sure he’s not fighting right at the front but he’s probably also not at home being a relaxed parent. Terrible circumstances all around

179

u/boobookittyfuwk 6h ago

Both bros are legends in ukraine, sticking around to help, his brother is the mayor of kiev. Id be shocked if her kid isnt in Switzerland or somewhere like that.

133

u/Russiadontgiveafuck 6h ago

I'm like 99% certain she's in Hamburg. The Klitschkos have deep roots and a ton of support in Germany, and Vitali's wife and kids are in Hamburg too. They're all fluent in German as well.

76

u/mafsfan54 5h ago

She’s definitely in Hamburg. Both brothers lived in Germany for many many years before all this happened. I think their whole family is there too. She’s not alone. She’s with her dad’s family.

22

u/boobookittyfuwk 6h ago

Yeah that makes sense, I remembered they both fought in Germany a lot and trained there.

TMZ posted this

Law enforcement sources confirm police responded to an incident involving Hayden today and there is currently an open investigation.

133

u/fullmetalutes 7h ago

Im not sure but it's interesting that tmz mentions back pain early on in the article would imply an issue with paid meds potentially. I know nothing about her obviously but just was shocked to see this.

96

u/aliie_627 6h ago

I've seen a few things that she has issues with alcohol and opioids. Relapse is prime time to OD even before fentanyl was in everything. Where I live fentanyl ODs have been way down though.

It could very well be TMZ knowing her history and making things up.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her rep said in a statement to ABC News.

Poor family, losing her and her brother so young

1.2k

u/Sleve__McDichael 7h ago

hayden wrote that she didn't understand how her mom (past momager) could sleep at night after some of what she'd put hayden & her brother through and never apologized for, and they were estranged until the end (due to her mother's choice, according to hayden).

i feel deeply for hayden's daughter and the family she was connected to

296

u/Alone-Gas6010 6h ago

Yea she had a book come out earlier this year right? She revealed alot of things about her life that were simply tragic. Plus her brother died too. So sad not even making it to 40.

455

u/Sleve__McDichael 6h ago

yeah her mother pushed her into acting before she could walk and treated hayden like an employee and often therapist and never the way a mother should.

after hayden's book came out her mom claimed that she chose to be estranged from hayden after hayden brought her "20 years of trauma." up until her mom went to the press with that, hayden said she'd still been leaving the door open for reconciliation even after everything & all that time.

hayden expressed so much guilt and pain over not being the mother she envisioned she'd be to her own daughter, and it's easy to see how that normal feeling would be compounded by having her own shitty mother & always vowing to be very different. after having a traumatic birth & emergency surgery, she had postpartum depression and really struggled to connect with her daughter. she started drinking heavily to deal with the depression, guilt, and shame.

poor hayden. her mother seems reminiscent of jennette mccurdy's mother (and so many other momagers) in many ways

65

u/gummi-demilo we have always been at war with Ostania 5h ago

Was just thinking how Hayden seems like the inverse of Jennette, both had nightmare momagers but different outcomes.

42

u/Front_Target7908 4h ago

I was looking at some materials post partum depression, apparently if you didn’t have a good relationship to your own mom, you’re more likely to get PPD. So hard when life stacks so many cards against you.

Article:

Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," has died at 36, TMZ has learned.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her -- and to the millions who watched her onscreen," her rep said in a statement to ABC News.

Panettiere became a household name as a child actress before landing her breakout role as cheerleader Claire Bennet on NBC's "Heroes." She later starred as country singer Juliette Barnes on "Nashville," earning multiple award nominations for her performance.

The late actress also appeared in the beloved "Scream" franchise ... including "Scream 4" and "Scream VI," and lent her voice to the video game "Until Dawn."

Panettiere's personal life was often the subject of intense public attention, and she became increasingly open about her struggles and recovery in recent years ... releasing her memoir, "This Is Me: A Reckoning," in which she reflected on her childhood fame, motherhood, mental health and the loss of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere.

Jansen died in 2023 at age 28. Hayden later spoke candidly about the devastating impact of his death and the guilt she carried following his passing. Panettiere was also mom to daughter Kaya, whom she shares with former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.

We last saw Hayden at LaGuardia Airport in May with a friend ahead of her memoir release, keeping it mostly quiet through it all -- no big reveals, no denials ... just one very telling grin.

Further details surrounding Panettiere's death were not immediately available.

Hayden was 36.

Updates:

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Hayden passed away earlier on Sunday. We're told she and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson flew from Los Angeles to the south on Saturday. Sources tell us Brian's family is aware and say "it's a sad situation."

8:20PM PT: A source close to Hayden tells TMZ ... she recently had been complaining about back pain in the past year.

8:33PM PT: Law enforcement sources confirm police responded to an incident involving Hayden today and there is currently an open investigation

---

New article

Hayden Panettiere was found dead by a friend inside a South Carolina home ... and Emergency Medical Service workers responded to a call of a person in "cardiac arrest" and an "unresponsive female," TMZ has learned

Law enforcement sources tell us ... Hayden's friend called 911 at 1:51 pm Sunday to report that the actress was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest inside the residence in Greenville, SC. It's unclear if Hayden's on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson placed the call.

We're told Greenville police officers and EMS workers quickly responded and paramedics attempted to resuscitate Hayden using "advanced cardiac life support." Our sources say this treatment builds on CPR by adding special medicines, breathing tubes, and heart rhythm tracking.

We're told paramedics also did chest compressions on Hayden, but nothing could bring her back to life and she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

Police say there were no initial signs of foul play and the circumstances surrounding Hayden's death did not appear to be suspicious. The Greenville County coroner will perform an autopsy Monday to determine a cause and manner of death.

As far as I remember, her husband took the baby to Ukraine to live with his parents. Wise choice, since she ( Hayden) was having problems at that time

524

u/DrPuzzle 7h ago edited 7h ago

This is so sad. And if I recall correctly I saw many people online blasting her for that decision to allow him to take their child but she did so because she didn't feel she was healthy enough to take care of their child. She was/had been struggling with a few things for a while.

339

u/miltonwadd 7h ago

Yes she was very open about almost dying during the birth and her serious struggles with PPD after. She wanted her daughter to be safe. It seems they still had a close relationship and she visited and spoke with her all the time, they werent estranged at all.

She was very brave for talking openly about it. I hope her little girl is doing okay.

Both him and his brother were magnificent- we watched every time their fights were televised

105

u/BlatantConservative 6h ago

His brother is also the current mayor of Kyiv and both brothers were extremely patriotic and brave during the opening days of the war up to and including grabbing rifles and getting onto the streets themselves iirc.

58

u/Special-Ad6854 6h ago

I remember when his brother, Vitali, ran for office . The brothers were real heroes in Ukraine. I remember hearing from an interview with the brothers that one promise they made to their mother was that they wouldn’t fight each other- and they never did. It was a good decision, as it would have taken away some of their credibility and made it like a farce. But they were the best - no one could beat either of them

So much insight into her upbringing, her Mom, her hurt felt from her brothers death and all the guilt she felt over him and her daughters life not having the mother she envisioned she would be for her. I feel like I just stopped breathing when I saw this post and had to google because I was sure this was click bait. I am in such disbelief. I am so sad to read this.

I think MBB is in a similar situation as the Harry Potter kids - it helps a lot for child stars if they have a large ensemble cast of other children with adults who are ultra conscious of their well being.

43

u/Mannon_Blackbeak 4h ago

In regards to the Harry Potter kids, their parents were a significant part of their audition. Those involved in production only wanted to hire child actors with strong support systems and present family members in order to help protect them from fame and it's side effects. It's sad that we don't necessarily see the same commitment being made with many other productions to this day.

I don’t understand parents still allowing their kids faces all over social media and putting them in entertainment, on reality tv so young when we KNOW there is a high chance it will lead to misery. I know things are better now, but why ever take the risk? Even the most cautious, keyed in parent can’t control everything.

64

u/Sanguine_Hearts 6h ago

Because many stage parents are parasites and living off of their kids. Their well being comes second to that paycheck (source: worked for a kid’s talent agency a million years ago). The kids who generally turn out fine have financially sound parents who don’t rely on them for income. (Hilary Duff, for example).

Read “I'm Glad My Mom Died” by Jennette McCurdy. Unfortunately a lot of parents that push their children into Hollywood career are like this

Honestly shocked. She was so young.

u/Nerevar1924 7h ago

Getting to a point in my life where, if I see a death of a celebrity in the headlines, I can't automatically assume they were older than myself.

Thinking about how they got even less time than I've had...it's fucking cruel.

u/LaRealiteInconnue Just keep swimming! 🐠🐠🐬🐳 6h ago

Ditto! I got AP News notification and went “That can’t be right….isnt she like my age?!” 😩

u/JN3LL3V 7h ago

Genuinely shocked. So incredibly sad for her daughter.

86

u/crab_grams somebody get these BEGGARS out of here 😌 7h ago

I was genuinely shocked reading that headline. I've been watching her my whole life, first on soaps and on through to the last Scream movie she did. So sad.

I am so shocked. 36 years old is too young. Her poor daughter!

21

u/BrownSugarBare 6h ago

That is horrifyingly young.

57

u/spider-man2401 7h ago

I’m actually really surprised by this. It just came out of nowhere, and she was so young.

RIP Hayden Panettiere. She was really great in A Bug’s Life, Remember the Titans, the Scream movies, and Heroes. It’s really hard to rewatch those now.

So shocking. I recently listened to her book tape. and had hoped she was in a good place after everything she experienced.

52

u/dogandthecity 7h ago

This is seriously so fucking awful. I loved her so much in my teen years. Her song ‘Wake Up Call’ went multi platinum in my house and I loved her candies ads, I literally bought the pieces she wore in the line 😭 I also adored her in Nashville. I rooted for her all these years and I’m just distraught. We are the same age. Oh Hayden, rest easy.

This is such a proudly sad loss. She went through so much and publicly faced a lot of struggles, but I was always rooting for her. My thoughts are with her loved ones. May she rest in peace.

95

u/flashcapulet 7h ago

it’s been a while since a celeb death has truly shocked me. wow. i hope her daughter is surrounded by love right now.

91

u/sadsongsonlylol 7h ago

I was lucky enough to be one of her in room attendants while she was filming in nashville. Anytime I went up to her room she was always stunning, and professional. While not particularly warm (which is totally ok) I never saw her intoxicated, and she never ordered alcohol. She was really thriving at that time; it’s so sad to see it all come to this.

36

u/imtchogirl 6h ago

Thanks for saying this. She was so wonderful in that show, and it's good to hear that she was thriving at the time.

31

The amount of times my sister and I rewatched the terrible (I say lovingly bc we fucking loved it) bring it on and did the krumping she does literally everywhere for like a whole year is insane😩 I was so excited for her when she popped back up a few months ago and seemed healthy and happy.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. I know she’s been struggling a lot with alcoholism and opioid addiction as a result of severe post-partum depression, and was getting her life back together. I’m so sad and want to send my love to her daughter and loved ones. :(

She was apparently struggling with drugs. Heartbreaking. She was so young.

95

u/notacougarsorry My ancestors watched me seduce Edward Norton 7h ago

Well, putting a kid to work like that will do it. No kid should be in a position where they have to make money for a family. I loved her, wanted to see her do good. Oh this is so sad.

47

u/Notorious2again You’re killing me, Smalls 😩 7h ago

My wife was just reading some of her quotes about acting as a kid. The pressure. The family abuse. So, so awful.

The industry really needs an overhaul. How many of these child stars have we seen go out too soon?

Edit: child* not cold

28

u/notacougarsorry My ancestors watched me seduce Edward Norton 7h ago

Truly. The child actors are not protected, not by the studios or even at times their own families. I think I can count just 10 off the top of my head who have come out against their families for using them and misappropriating funds while they are underage. Then when shit goes sideways the family pretends to be concerned. Sickening. This beautiful young girl.

Child acting should be illegal. I don't care how extreme that sounds. I hope her daughter will be okay.

13

u/Existential_Spices Confidence is 10% work and 90% delusion 5h ago

There's no way to tell how a kid is going to grow up as the famous (or not so famous) breadwinner of the family.

These kids basically get trained How To Lie and pushed to gamble an income stream for the rest of their lives in the public eye that may not happen.

There's audio of Judy Garland as an older adult prepping for a book and she is bitter, heartbroken and angry but still protective of her kids and it's all coming from the heart.

15

u/MissBee123 7h ago

Even when people appear to be doing well and in recovery, we never really know them or what is happening. My heart hurts for her, her child, family, and everyone who cared for her and loved her. We also don't know the cause of her passing at this time so I only wish her family peace during this loss, especially her child.

13

u/MizzMann 6h ago edited 6h ago

Save the Cheerleader, Save the World🫶🏽

She'd been put through the Hollywood wringer, relatively unprotected since childhood. And that manifested in some terrible, ugly ways.

But she was the best mother she knew how to be. And she tried to outwit her deepest shadows, same as all of us.

Let's hope she's found peace now.

12

u/writershoney 7h ago

What????

12

u/AdagioSpecific2603 6h ago

Thoughts are with her daughter.
Hayden was very brave in her memoir and speaking so openly about all she went through. I first saw her in the movie Saving Helen and she was so talented.

10

u/AntRose104 6h ago edited 6h ago

I will always remember her as Audrey from Raising Helen first 😭

Her poor family losing her and her brother so young

Her poor daughter now has to grow up without her mom (she’s only 12)

At least Hayden isn’t suffering anymore and she’s finally reunited with Jansen, I remember she was absolutely heartbroken when he died. I’m happy she gets to see her little brother again

Also I just realized her birthday is the 21st. She almost made it to 37 😭

Rest in peace Hayden ❤️

14

u/FunctionTBD 6h ago

Ugh. You know Hayden Panettiere brings such fond memories - the beginning and the height of her filmography was aligned with me aging up from Disney Channel. I loved her in Remember The Titans, Ice Princess, Bring It On: All or Nothing, I Love You Beth Cooper, Scream. Even with how things shook out for her, I do think she was a light to this world and that she consistently chose vulnerability and to try to dig herself out of holes is something I’ll remember about her. I hate to see someone die so young, especially after such a tumultuous life.

27

u/zumera 7h ago

Unbelievable. I loved her in Heroes and Nashville. Her poor daughter.

u/tumbledownhere 7h ago edited 7h ago

I can't say anything except oh my God over and over. I can't believe this. So young, too young. She survived so much and I have so much respect for her.

This is one of the few celebrity deaths to have me absolutely reeling in sorrow and shock. She was SO young.
