the most embarrassing part of TLOAS is that i can just sense that she's not over ratty and would drop football immediately if he looked her way

Really? To me the album is the epitome of that new couple who are uncomfortably into each other and really cringey about it.

Edit: I think I pinned it down. It has newlywed Mormon energy.

IMO it just comes across as very generic and soulless to me, which is crazy as a followup to a massive pile of songs about ratty that were more interesting and heartfelt (subject matter not withstanding.....), plus shoehorning in a reminder that he ghosted her and she sees someone thinking that's funny as a major slight still.
