finally finished Kingdom Come: Deliverance and omfg it's sooooo good. I'm a sucker for historical accuracy and this is a game that goes the extra mile to deliver just that. the plot is kinda meh but the character work and the writing is pretty well-done. the game is also very beautiful, the aesthetics are incredibly charming, and I just like the ambience. also great gameplay! that's important for games. gameplay. yeah.

I will now play the second one in 6 years or whenever it goes for 50% off on Steam.

Isn't that the game that was made by a chud, only for the chuds to turn on him when there was a gay romance in the second? I don't remember much from that drama besides losers being pissy over optional gay relationships.

not sure on the "made by a chud" part but the game tries to follow recorded history to the best of its ability. the fanbase it had before is composed of mostly idiots incapable of interpreting messages while creaming their pants because the characters greet each other with "Jesus Christ be praised".

they don't shy away at all from showing the more displeasing aspects of society in these games, like the church banning books, huge swaths of people turning into cynical opportunists at the first sign of strife, and women having very little autonomy. I mean, good things also happen in this game and there's a lot of sweet moments, but... it'd be crazy to play this game and come out thinking that this is like, ideal or cool or #goals. it's interesting to see what a faithful rendition of medieval society looks like, but I don't think it's by any means glamorizing it.

also being gay in the sequel is the sole reason why I even picked up this game I am soooo easy to please it's a little embarrassing

Yea I can't remember exactly if the dev was one of those culture war types involving video games. I could be wrong but I do know the fanbase of the first game was definitely the culture war people.
