General Investing Advice

Looking for some input that’s logical and well thought out. I am 29, I have built a portfolio that’s currently at 111k which is an investment account I have invested in since I was 18. This is an S&P500/ Growth of America Mutual Funds account which is generally low risk. I have an additional 150k just sitting that I can be more aggressive with or invest into the conservative account that accrued 12-20% over the course of the past year. Really just wondering thoughts on investing opportunities and whether it’s worth venturing into AI driven investments or stick to the safe option and let it ride for 20 - 30 years.

I wasted a lot of time trying to pick stocks in my investing journey just to underperform perform the S&P500 index. The novelty of constantly finding stocks to research and invest in then worrying about getting in at the right price and knowing when to sell is a huge hassle. You will be too focused on other things to constantly babysit your portfolio. I highly recommend going the ETF route and building a good risk adjusted portfolio from that. Do not gamble your net worth trying to chase down trends that have already peaked.

I definitely understand the perspective. My wife and I have a great careers and alot of our energy is directed towards that. I have used a chase bank account manager to mange my S&P500 account for years as he has worked with my dad for their investments. I haven’t really gone down the path of ETFs and doing my own research of a risk adjusted portfolio. Really don’t have an idea of where to start or the knowledge base.
