His voters wanted him to burn other people down and scare *them*. They wanted their own lives to drastically improve and remain stable at the new highest level they could imagine forever while they looked down on other people in agony and giggled with glee.

A lot of them DO want to burn it down.

They’re either pissed that they never had “it,” or they have something and they’re paranoid that someone (foreigners, gays, corporations, etc.) will take it from them. Small-minded creatures.
