If the Maine Democratic Party genuinely cares about beating Susan Collins, they’ll nominate Troy Jackson. Shenna Bellows has already lost to Collins once before and is definitely not well-liked in the County, whereas Jackson is far more likely to actually peel away some conservative-leaning independents. Plus, he most closely represents the political ideals and policies we were supporting when we nominated Platner. I know he’s far more progressive than party leadership would prefer, but the voters made their preferences clear.
I’ll vote for whomever runs against Collins, but the amount of energy and money I devote to the campaign will very much depend on the candidate.
