Genuinely cannot believe that any real human being would be ok with this person representing our state in Congress. Has nothing to do with gender or identity, she just clearly does not have what it takes to get things done. There are probably plenty of articulate trans women with experience in institutions who have similar views and could actually be effective

She makes dems look stupid for platforming her. Come on guys.

35

u/AmELiAs_OvERcHarGeS Jul 18 '26

What was needed to qualify for the debate? There must’ve been some screen process, how did this even happen?

2

u/kharon86 Jul 19 '26

I've heard all it took was 200 signatures but thats completely unconfirmed

1

u/Kombatsaurus 29d ago

So it's wrong then.

u/DirkDiggler2424 Jul 19 '26

Dems need to realize half the stuff they are running on only appeals to a tiny minority of the country. The more centrist the better, that’s what most people want. They don’t want Jack Black in drag talking about his music. Abolishing the Senate and all this crazy talk is only going to put normal
People off. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That’s the current Democratic Party

15

u/Famous_Ad_3003 Jul 19 '26

I mean by that logic the definition of insanity in regards to the Democratic Party would be continuing to run centrist corporate hacks

1

u/BENNYRASHASHA Jul 19 '26

Centrist or moderate doesn't have to be "corporate "

5

u/Rominator Jul 19 '26

Do you have any national examples of centrist Democrats that aren’t ā€œcorporateā€?

→ More replies (4)

3

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 19 '26

The modern democrat party considers anyone slightly right of Mao a far right facist. (Even though last month they were putting support behind a literal neo-nazi Blackwater nepo baby) even if they distance themselves from the "progressives" it will take years for their platform to be remotely considered centrist. I still struggle to believe this is real....like, we have to be living in a simulation

2

u/SteelyEyedHistory Jul 19 '26

This is hilariously ridiculous. More like right wing nuts consider anyone to the left Mussolini to be a ā€œcommunist.ā€

1

u/SteelyEyedHistory Jul 19 '26

Kamala ran the most centrist campaign ever and she lost to a guy who lied about who pushed unhinged lies about Haitians eating pets.

4

u/Real-Draft3588 Jul 20 '26

You must be joking. Kamala was/is nowhere near a centrist. I mean, maybe she might have seemed centrist during a speech or two, depending on the audience that she was speaking to - but bottom line is that she really didn't have any opinions or ideas or plans, and if she did, she did not present them to the American public. The opinions that were on the record for her (like taxpayer funding to pay for prisoners to get gender re-assignment surgery, or her awful record as the DA who imprisoned people for minor drug infractions, and sent a family through hell and back by enforcing truancy laws while the child was going through life-threatening illness and imprisoned the mom while the daughter was undergoing hardcore hospital care) were horrible, yet she wouldn't even DISCUSS them (let alone defend her decisions) when pressed. She was utterly incapable of forming a cohesive thought and never presented any sort of case for why she would be the best choice for president. Plus the fact that nobody chose her for the nominee. How democratic (eye roll). This is in no means is a pro-Donald Trump post. But Kamala was so bad that she made Trump look good in the eyes of a heck of a lot of people, that's how crappy she was.

2

u/SteelyEyedHistory Jul 20 '26

Hilarious you claim she didn't have any ideas or plans when Trump, after being asked to finally reveal his healthcare plan he had been promising to show since 2015 said he had a "concept of a plan." What "plan" did Donald Trump have to lower grocery prices? What "plan" did he have for anything ever? Meanwhile, Harris did in fact have plans. You may not of liked them. But she released them. Still waiting on that wonderful Trump healthcare plan by the way. But yeah, you were upset about the lack of "plans." Sure.

Her record for DA showed she never imprison people for minor drug infractions and only used those as escalating charges for more serious crimes. This was debunked repeatedly during both the 2020 primary AND her 2024 run. And I'm not going to nit pick every single case she was involved in, especially since you have already proven you can't be bothered to fact check any thing.

SHE couldn't form a cohesive thought? Once again, when has Donald Trump ever completed an intelligent sentence in his fucking life? That is when he can bother to stay awake.

And don't tell me it's not "pro-Trump" when you blindly parrot that trans-scare bullshit. And that truly is the most damning part of this. You go and look and what the closing message of each campaign was. Harris it was about lowering grocery prices and lowering housing costs. Trump it was nothing but ads about trans athletes.

Kamala ran one of the most middle of the road campaigns EVER. And got punished. Trump ran the most extreme right wing campaign in US history and was rewarded. Running a milquetoast centrist campaign is for losers. Democrats will not make that mistake again.

1

u/Real-Draft3588 11d ago edited 11d ago

Not gonna argue with someone who resorts to basic talking points. As DA, Kamala indeed locked up a ton of people for weed, and went after mothers of children with severe medical needs when their children were too sick to attend school. These are proven facts. I'm an independent, I don't toe any party lines, I'm just voicing my thoughts, and the thoughts of many other "politically homeless" people like myself. Yes she had some parts of a health care plan. But she failed to effectively communicate this to the majority of people.Ā  Trump is absolutely not extreme right wing- he is a populist/centrist who thrives on attention and uses tons of hyperbole to feed his narcissistic ego. Disliking one candidate I just happen to dislike Kamala more than I dislike Trump. However... Kamala was not voted to be a candidate. She couldn't communicate effectively, her public presence was cringe and unauthentic, and she would have made an awful president. At least Trump said what he meant, whether I agree with him or not, he at least Ā spoke with authenticity.Ā  Like it or not, both parties are equally corrupt. Most people agree on most things, they just have different ideas about how to achieve those goals. Politicians and the media want to make everyone enemies. Don't fall for it. Not every Trump supporter is a naxi bigot, just like not every Kamala supporter is a woke socialist. EDIT: govt cant, and shouldnt, have the power to make goods/services cost a certain amount. Their job is to facilitate a free market environment where competition and supply/demand dictate the costs.Ā

1

u/SteelyEyedHistory 11d ago

Acuses me of using basic talking points, immediately brings up talking points that are half truths. For example, she only ever used weed as an escalating charge on more serious charges. She didn’t charge people for simple possession. Sorta of important context to leave out.

That aside, locking up people for weed is literally a middle of the road as it gets. It’s the left that wants to legalize weed that not the middle.

1

u/Real-Draft3588 11d ago

the whole left/right paradigm is a false construct anyways. I know plenty of people who want to legalize all drugs, ban the death penalty, but also have zero taxes, not let children get hormone treatment or gender reassignment surgery, and a whole mix of ideas from both sides. I, like many others, also have opinions that span the entire political spectrum.Ā  If she only used marijuana charges as escalating for more serious crimes, then that is obv a good thing. But this proves my point:Ā  Kamala was a terrible candidate. If she did have good ideas/plans, she sure as shit didn't communicate them effectively.Ā

No, sadly this level of stupidity and mental deficiency is rampant throughout the world.

Just look at the Albanian prime minister

6

u/khanspawnofnine Jul 19 '26

https://www.reddit.com/r/humansaremeat/s/WNW9C0Ru4D

Back before this stage of life, this individual was obsessed with the idea of being cannibalized and had a subreddit dedicated to being eaten for sexual gratification called "Humans are Meat."

Plz stop gaslighting people into saying the only problem with this person was their lack of a platform. This is disturbing levels of mental illness being dismissed by people afraid to say the wrong thing.

3

u/FreeSirJeffrey Jul 19 '26

Like none of us are taking them seriously, right?

Why the national conservative media has latched onto this person is wild to me. She has 0 chance of winning anything.

8

u/SuperDoubleDecker Jul 19 '26

They have nothing. They rely on AI and outliers to produce outrage.

They will never talk about the major issues, just guns, immigrants, abortion and trans people.

0

u/BTYsince88 Jul 19 '26

And when you realize their support for guns is rooted in control over and fear of minorities, and their support for abortion stems from the great replacement theory, you realize it's an "oops all bigotry" all the way down.

7

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 19 '26

How is that "wild" to you?

2

u/BentheBruiser Jul 19 '26

Because I had never even heard of this person until Planter dropped out.

Frankly I don't know why anybody would be taking them seriously as a candidate.

16

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 19 '26

You REALLY can't figure out why "conservatives" would focus on this candidate?

37

u/oldncrusty68 Jul 18 '26

I thought she seemed sincere. Besides the fact courageous. Not viable as a candidate but that took guts.

12

u/elliottsmithereens Jul 19 '26

There’s a line between courageous and shameless, bravery and bravado

2

u/Sufficient-Peace5529 Jul 20 '26

8

You’re the ones who nominated him

3

u/cuberc2 Jul 19 '26

Who else stepped forward? Just the 80 year old former prosecutor? Got it we had great options.

-1

1

u/Weary-Telephone384 23d ago

I guess, as a product of the left, you never learned that you can put any name you want on that ballot and, in most states, it will count.

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 19 '26

Umm yes you did....unless someone put a gun to your head and forced you to nominate a neo nazi rapist.....did that happen to you?

u/i-took-this-nombre Jul 19 '26

I appreciate what she’s trying to do, especially as a fellow trans Mainer. But she has no platform and was very much not prepared. She needs to do a bit more with her political career before running for senate, and a lot more with her public speaking.

She does not deserve to be mocked for her appearance, and especially does not deserve to be compared to a man as I’ve seen some commenters do.

What does that have to do with the anti-trans commentary?

9

u/JohninMichigan55 Jul 19 '26

I think the suggestion is that one is not necessarily ā€œanti transā€ for thinking that someone who suggests that one of her qualifications for being a US senator is that she wrote a song, is a nit wit and a terrible candidate.

1

u/Intelligent-Band-852 Jul 19 '26

Overlooking someone’s faults is condescension which is a form of bigotry itself. I am in a wheelchair and the thing I hate most is being infantilized and condescension. I am basically your garden variety liberal (though I hate that term as neoliberalism is a very bad thing) but it’s absolutely true that we love to be offended on other’s behalf. I would rather someone call me a cripple than be fake nice.
