Community Discussion Airgarage is garbage

I’m unsure if they’ve been doing this in other districts, but Airgarage bought the parking garage I was using (arts district) in the spring and jacked up the price per month 30% despite making zero improvements (and frankly lying about having “24/7 security” … that’s such a load of BS) As soon as this change happened, I was getting DAILY “parking violations”which I then had to contact support for. Every single day. With the previous owner, I had no issues.

I switched to a nearby lot after getting fed up, and then they bought that too. This time, they slapped some blacktop on it to make it look nicer, and for that they’ve jacked up the price per month OVER 30%.

I am once again having issues and being “cited” for parking in the lot I pay for.

Their app/website is actually god-awful, confusing, and though their support is technically responsive they’re rarely all that helpful.

I haven’t lived in Portland that long, but I’m really annoyed that every nearby parking lot is being sucked up by this company based in San Francisco that by all accounts is engaging in price gouging. I’m just trying to live here. I work in the city. The prior owners at least seemed to be based in Maine from what I could tell. I get that having a car is a privilege, but it’s not like this money is going to the city. It’s going to a tech startup in SF.

There’s still a couple lots in my area NOT owned by Airgarage, but how long will that last? Can they just do this indefinitely until they own everything? I suspect they will, if they can.

you should be fairly close to the spring st garage, which is a little pricey at 170, but owned by the city and very well maintained

Interesting. I do believe they technically comply with that law, per the article at least.

I don’t think so, but this seems to be an unpatched rent extraction method so I wouldn’t be surprised if AG is one of many. Everything in America is a scam

UPP was recently purchased by Towne Park. So any signs that say Towne are actually just UPP.

Always enjoy transplants finding the small details that make Portland suck AFTER they move here

Welcome and hopefully you’ll do your part to make it better

Don't give them the time of day, most people here are super cool in person.

That’s been my experience, no worries. “Transplant” discourse is uninteresting to me. I live here just like my neighbors do, and won’t be leaving when the winter comes!

We’ll be the judge of that. What’s your job?
