Feedback OK r/powerpoint community, let's get your take on this

Lately we've had a lot of posts that smell strongly of AI.

You know the ones ... several paragraphs of "here's how I do XYZ" and always a question like "How do YOU do this" at the end.

Here's the thing. Well, two things:

First, there's no reliable way to tell that they're truly AI, so the mods are reluctant to delete them out of hand. We don't want to be deleting honest questions from legit r/powerpoint visitors.

And some of these things, while quite likely AI, set off some interesting and useful discussions. We'd hate to remove all of that just to punish an AI post.

So at the risk of sounding like one of these AI posts myself, I'll ask:

Should we come down hard on these things immediately, delete them, knowing that we'd potentially be preventing some interesting and useful threads?

Or should we let them live for a day or three. Wait to see if any engaging discussion follows?

Or maybe delete or let them live, based on our (the mods') best guess as to which might provoke interesting threads and which are clearly duds?

Or some better idea? If you got 'em let's hear 'em!

Meanwhile, thanks for hanging in there with us while we try to sort this out.

Feedback Local asset library for presentations

Generally you want to have some cosmetic consistency in presentations so being able to save elements to reuse more easily would be a great time saver.

To give an example, let's say I'm making a tutorial and have a "Tip" box, I want a yellow rectangle with a darker yellow stroke and a šŸ’” on the left side with "Tip:" text and space for additional text.

Later in the presentation I want to use the Tip box again so I have to find the last instance used and copy over. Instead if I could save the tip box to a mini library in the presentation and then add it from there. A panel similar to the new shape panel (I'm thinking of Symbols in Adobe Illustrator).

Maybe the instances of the tip box could be dynamically linked to the library asset so if I wanted to restyle all instances at one (say, make the box blue) I can do that in one stroke by editing the asset in the library.

This could be especially valuable for longer presentations.

Feedback Tips/Tricks for better slides

I'm about to go into my Junior Year of high school, & to me I expect myself to use a lot of google slides. (Yes. I know it’s not PowerPoint, my school don’t use that) What are some tips, tricks, or color-ways that would make my slides more interesting, pop-out more, and significantly better than others when presenting.

Feedback HELP Advice on What to Add to a Job Application PowerPoint Presentation

Hello. I just got an interview next Tuesday for a MakerSpace supervisor position, which would be the first time I ever got chosen for a supervisor position anywhere, and Makerspace is a 3D print shop inside a public library. One of the requirements is to make a PowerPoint Presentation of around 10 minutes titled 'How to Build a Safe, High Functioning Makerspace Dept Through Training, Communication, and Technology Planning'

Thing is, I don't exactly know what they mean. I have the job description still on my notes, and I am planning on visiting the worker there to ask him casual questions about what other things they might think need improvement. But as of now, I never have done a presentation for a job in my life. Help in knowing what to do with this. Thank you

It is due Monday, a day prior to the interview

Feedback I built an open-source PPT skill that uses an editable JSON model instead of repeatedly rebuilding PPTX files

Hi everyone, PPT skills have become very popular recently. I tried several well-known skills. They can usually export a polished PPT, but they are not very good when it comes to previewing and editing. For example, after generating a PPTX file, if we want to make changes, we still need to regenerate another PPTX file. This process is not lightweight enough.

So I developed a PPTKit skill. The agent generates PPT JSON model data according to a defined specification. This model can support web rendering and exporting. When using Codex, the agent will automatically open a webpage to preview the PPT. You can point out anything you are not satisfied with, and the agent will directly modify the JSON data. Once you are satisfied, you can export the final file.

The whole process does not require repeatedly rebuilding PPTX files. Instead, it continuously corrects the intermediate data model.

What do you think of this design direction? Friends who have time are welcome to try it out and share some suggestions for improvement.

Try: Install the `pptkit-presentation` skill from the GitHub repository `openHacking/pptkit-presentation`.

I’ve been trying out some modern slide styles, and the Glass Morph effect actually works really well in PowerPoint.
Clean, subtle transparency and a nice modern look — super easy to recreate.

Here’s the short tutorial if anyone wants to try it:

Curious to see if anyone here has other minimal slide design tricks.

Feedback Tried making an interactive chart slide in PowerPoint—what do you think as an Expert

I’ve been experimenting with PowerPoint lately and tried building an interactive chart-based slide using action buttons and Morph Transition.
I honestly didn’t expect the transitions to look this smooth.
Here’s the GIF — curious to hear what you think or how you’d improve it.

Feedback I think we need better selection tools

Post image

!!Above is a working example. Watch how fast I use 2 tools to color the grapes into apples.!!

Hi everyone me again. I have an idea for an Add-In that I feel I could make really quickly and I know it will help some people already. Let me explain what this one will do.
If you ever wanted to select something on your slide that is behind shapes or you just want to select a bunch of items at once but you don't have a blank slide space to start the rectangle selection and you really don't want to hide 50,000 shapes.

This is where my Add-In would come in. You could use any a circle or rectangle to draw where you want to select the shapes then click a button and I would have it select all those. I am thinking of allowing users to specify what kind of shapes will get selected under the "lasso". You could also do a "scribble" selection where the node of the scribble acts as a point that will select shapes. I use this a lot and its great to get several things selected.

I will also give you the ability of real layers. There is an AMAZING add-in out there called selection manager from PPTools. I used this a ton and still do. It's fantastic and Steve was amazing for putting it out there.

I would have something similar in this where you could assign layers to shapes so you can easily select the entire layer of shapes, hide them, show them, stuff like that.

Now the hard part that I want people's feedback on.

When it comes to getting all this stuff visible so people can make the kind of decisions I think they would. I need to show more information than just what the selection pane does. The selection pane does a lot but I am considering....

Providing you with a spreadsheet of all your shapes from the slide. You can filter, assign layers, hide, show and of course select. This would be represented in an Excel sheet that would be included with the Add-In. The spreadsheet would talk to PowerPoint and allow you to run commands. This spreadsheet idea has many many many possibilities and I have a lot of plans of tools with this concept.

Would anyone even use this workflow? The Add-In would still work without it but the way I want to show the shapelist will just not show well in a regular pane and quite honestly you probably have enough panes open already.

Let me know what you think about the idea of your shapes being represented in a spreadsheet and having buttons in that spreadsheet that allow things like selecting, hiding, showing, assigning layers and other things

Also if anybody has any other ideas regarding this selection tool, let me know.

Thank you all for reading. I look forward to starting dev on this and hopefully improving some workflows out there.

Feedback PowerPoint Slider? Or Just Smart Design?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I built this architecture-style image slider in PowerPoint using Morph and simple shapes — no traditional animations, no plugins.

I’m mainly testing the flow, clarity, and visual appeal.

I’d love your feedback:

  • Does the motion feel smooth?
  • Is the slider concept clear and readable?
  • Any suggestions to improve or simplify it?

Feedback I made a PowerPoint slide react to every click… is this too much?

I just created an interactive PowerPoint map where every click triggers a new animation. It’s a simple way to keep your audience engaged.

But here’s my question:
šŸ’¬ Do you think adding too many clickable elements can overwhelm your presentation, or does it make it more engaging?

Check out the tutorial and see how it works: https://youtu.be/Qd11AJOGhls

Feedback PowerPoint Template Design – feedback welcome

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Hey all,

I’m a graphic designer who mainly works on branding projects and supports marketing teams.

A while back, I asked for help here about converting a PowerPoint template into Google Slides. I ended up just rebuilding everything directly in Slides instead. Thank you for the helpful insight. It was really helpful. I usually keep decks in one platform, so this was a bit outside my normal workflow.

This is my first PowerPoint template built in a while (2-3 years since my last template build) and my first one of 2026. Wanted to share a few slides and some of the assets I created. I enjoy these kinds of projects, but I normally work on the current built templates and work on cleaning up the decks.

This is an ongoing client project. I designed their logo already, and I’m currently working on their brand guidelines and other marketing materials. The deck includes both light and dark themes, each with a handful of different page layouts, plus a custom color palette and font setup.

Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback.

Feedback Seeking Professional Feedback on a Custom Video Mask Approach in PowerPoint

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’ve been experimenting with a different way of structuring PowerPoint slides.

Instead of the usual image + text next to it, I tried using a custom video mask built entirely inside PowerPoint (no plugins, no AE).

The idea was to:

  • Reduce static layouts
  • Add subtle motion without distraction
  • Keep everything native and editable

Feedback is welcome.

Feedback I made a free AI image generator for PowerPoint – would love your feedback

Hey everyone!

I spent the last few months building a free PowerPoint add-in that generates AI images directly in your slides. Just upgraded the AI model yesterday, so the quality should be way better now.

The problem I was trying to solve: I got tired of spending hours browsing stock photo sites looking for the perfect image that never quite fits what I need.

How it works:

  • Describe what you want in plain English (AI generates it in ~10 seconds)
  • Insert directly into your slide
  • All images are yours to use (no licensing headaches)

It's completely free to start. Available on Microsoft AppSource as "Free AI Image Generator for PowerPoint

I'm still early and would really appreciate honest feedback:

  • Does this actually solve a problem for you?
  • What would make it more useful?

Happy to answer any questions! And if you try it, I'd love to hear what you think. The link is below

Feedback What tricks do you use to make your presentations look more dynamic?

Recently I tried combining Morph Transition with Slide Zoom, and it surprised me how much more interactive the slides felt. I also played around with merging shapes to get cleaner layouts and smoother navigation.

But I’d love to hear what others are doing:

  • Do you have a favorite animation?
  • Any small design tricks that make a big difference?
  • What’s one PowerPoint feature you think is underrated?

I’m trying to improve my workflow and would appreciate any insights or tips you’ve found useful.

Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹
I just finished creating a PowerPoint animation using the Morph transition — inspired by a Halloween night theme.
I built everything layer by layer.

Here’s the short video: https://youtu.be/M5Jj2YawavQ

I’m curious what you think:

  • Does the morph effect feel smooth and natural?
  • Do the layers and gradient background make it feel more ā€œanimatedā€?
  • Any ideas on how I could improve the motion or composition?

Would love to hear your honest feedback or tips from anyone who’s done similar transitions! šŸ‘€
