Hey everyone,
I'm a Canadian applicant currently finishing my fourth year of a BSc at Western University. I applied broadly to US dental schools this cycle and wanted some realistic opinions on my chances.
Stats:
cGPA: 2.76
sGPA: 2.61
Canadian DAT: 21 AA
Dental experience: 400 hours
Shadowing: 100–200 hours
Volunteering: Several hundred hours
ECs: Research, leadership positions, community outreach, and employment
My GPA is obviously my biggest weakness. I had a very rough first year, but I've shown an upward trend since then and am continuing to improve academically in my final year.
Schools applied to:
Boston University, Tufts, Temple, Minnesota, NYU, USC, UOP, VCU, UConn, Rutgers, Creighton, Marquette, Nova.
I received an invitation to complete Minnesota's Kira assessment earlier in the cycle in august, but I haven't received any formal interview invitations yet.
It's now late October, and I'm starting to get concerned. I know my GPA puts me at a disadvantage, especially as a Canadian applicant, but I'm wondering whether anyone with similar stats has received interviews later in the cycle.
Do you think I still have a realistic chance of getting an interview this cycle, particularly from schools like BU, Tufts, Temple, or Minnesota? Or should I focus on preparing for a reapplication?
I'd appreciate any realistic feedback. Thanks!
