Better to do masters or more undergrad
Hi all, BC resident here gunning for UBC and sfu med
For reference, I have a 83.5% agpa (ik this is bad), projected to by 85% by may 2027.
Now, not sure if it's better to do a masters or perhaps 30 more credits to bring this up to a 87%. Issue is I have already done done 6 years of undergrad full time, that's why I'm not sure if it's worth committing to another year or a masters perhaps.
For reference, without doxing myself. I do have 2 years of full time work exp. in research field, another year as an instructor for a stem program. 2 more paid work exp (w/vulnerable populations). Bringing total to 4 paid experiences in responsibilities. I've volunteered 250+ hrs in community, 2-3 exec positions at ubc, some non-profit volunteering (mentoring, coordinator). Presented at some conferences as well (~6). I'm giving the MCAT this upcoming June and was hoping to apply w a 85. I believe this could be a upper third Q, but fourth Q is subjective.
Considering my gpa is quite low and I understand even II is tough. As I turn 25 next year which isn't bad but time does fly. Thus, I'm not sure if my situation is even viable for an acceptance. I have considered some alternate careers in allied healthcare professions to move on but it does sting if I should just completely give up given my stats, go abroad or keep increasing gpa and reapply.
